Overview
Puri is a coastal city on the Bay of Bengal in Odisha, anciently known as Purushottama Kshetra. It is home to the Jagannath Temple, the eastern seat of the Char Dham pilgrimage, where Jagannath is worshipped with Balabhadra and Subhadra. The city's Ratha Yatra, when the deities are drawn through the streets on giant chariots, draws more than a million people.
