Kṛṣṇa Lifts Govardhana
When Indra's storm raged, a cowherd boy raised a mountain.
When Indra unleashes furious storms upon Vṛndāvana, the villagers run in fear, seeking shelter from the wrathful rain. Young Kṛṣṇa, calm and smiling, lifts Govardhana Mountain with one hand, forming a vast umbrella for all—humans, animals, and plants alike. The villagers gather beneath, marveling at the miraculous shelter. Indra’s pride melts away as he witnesses Kṛṣṇa’s divine power and compassion. The storm ceases, and Vṛndāvana is safe. In this moment, Kṛṣṇa teaches that true protection comes not from pride or force, but from surrender and faith in the loving grace of the Divine.
