Overview
Chidambaram is a town in Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu, built around the Thillai Nataraja Temple, a roughly 40-acre complex at the heart of the city. The temple is dedicated to Shiva as Nataraja, the lord of the cosmic dance, and is counted among the five Pancha Bhuta shrines, representing space (akasha). It is administered by the hereditary Dikshitar priests.
