Long ago there was a man named Valmiki who had lost his way and was not always kind. One day he met some wise, gentle people who spoke to him with love. Their kind words touched his heart. “I want to be good,” he decided. So Valmiki sat down very still and quiet, and softly said the name “Rāma, Rāma, Rāma” again and again. He sat so peacefully, thinking only of goodness, that a long, long time went by. When he finally stood up, his heart felt clean and bright and happy, like a fresh morning. Valmiki became a wonderful poet, and he wrote the very first big story of Lord Rāma! He showed that anyone can start again and become kind.
It is never too late to choose to be kind.
Ask your child: What is something you would like to try again, better this time?
