Rāma and his big monkey friends were building a long bridge across the sea. The strong monkeys carried huge, heavy rocks — splash, splash! — into the water. A tiny squirrel watched and wanted to help too. But she was so small! So she had a clever idea. She rolled in the sand until her fur was covered, then shook it out into the little gaps between the rocks, over and over. The big monkeys chuckled. “What can a little squirrel do?” But Rāma saw her and gently lifted her into his hand. “Every bit of help given with love is precious,” he said, and softly stroked her back. And that is why squirrels have little stripes today — Rāma’s loving touch!
No act of kindness is ever too small to matter.
