Serving his parents first, he kept even God waiting.
Puṇḍalīka was so devoted to caring for his aged parents that he gave them all his attention day and night.
One day the Lord Viṭhobā himself came to bless this faithful son.

But at that very moment Puṇḍalīka was tending to his mother and father. Rather than turn away from his duty, he tossed a single brick toward the Lord and said, “Please wait here a while; my parents need me first.” The Lord, delighted by such loving service, stood patiently upon that brick.
There, the tradition says, he stands waiting still, at the great temple of Paṇḍharpūr.

To serve those we love with devotion is itself the highest worship.
