After Rāma won and everyone was happy, kind Sītā gave Hanuman a beautiful necklace of shiny pearls. But Hanuman looked at each pearl very closely, then put it down with a little frown. “Why don’t you like the pretty pearls?” the people asked. “I am looking for Rāma inside them,” said Hanuman. “Anything without my dear Rāma is not special to me!” Some people laughed. “Then is Rāma inside you?” they teased. Hanuman smiled. He gently placed his hand on his chest — and everyone saw that Rāma and Sītā were right there, safe and warm in Hanuman’s loving heart! Everyone grew quiet and amazed. Hanuman loved Rāma so much that Rāma lived inside him.
