Overview
Mantralayam is a pilgrim village and mandal in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, on the banks of the Tungabhadra river. It derives its importance from the Jeevasamadhi of the Madhva saint Sri Raghavendra Swamy (Raghavendra Tirtha, c. 1595–1671), a Vaishnava scholar of Dvaita Vedānta who, according to tradition, entered his Brindavana here in 1671. The Sri Raghavendra Swamy Matha, one of the three premier Dvaita monasteries, draws lakhs of devotees each year.
