Overview
Deoghar is a city in the Santhal Parganas division of Jharkhand, primarily known for the Baidyanath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Shiva, and also revered as a Shaktipeeth. Every Shravan (July–August), during the Shravani Mela, Kanwariya pilgrims carry Ganga water on foot from Sultanganj to offer at the temple. The city is often called the cultural capital of Jharkhand.
