When that supreme knowledge arises, all afflictions and the bondage of actions come to an end. In this state, knowledge shines without limit—its light unobstructed, for all impurities and coverings have been removed. What remains to be known is but little, for the fullness of understanding has dawned. At this point, the sequence of transformations of the gunas—the fundamental qualities of nature—has fulfilled its purpose. Their movements and changes, which once drove experience, now come to completion. This sequence can be discerned as the succession of moments, marking the gradual end of all transformations. Ultimately, liberation is attained. The gunas, having served their purpose, return to their source, and for the purusha—the witnessing consciousness—there is nothing further to be gained from them. Now, consciousness abides in its own true nature, established in freedom and peace.
