वातस्कन्धनिखातान्तवहत्त्रिपथगाजलम् । आश्चर्यालोकनव्यग्रसञ्चरत्त्रिदशार्भकम्
With nets of rivers embedded in the shoulders of the wind, and the movement of divine children eagerly wandering to witness wonders, it was a place of marvels.
सन्देहसञ्चरद्वज्रचक्रशूलासिशक्तिमत् । क्वचिन् निर्भित्तिसदनगायत्तुम्बुरुनारदम्
At times, doubts moved among those bearing thunderbolts, discs, spears, swords, and weapons; sometimes, the houses resounded with the music of Tumburu and Narada.
मेघमार्गमहामेघमहारम्भाकुलं क्वचित् । चित्रन्यस्तसमाकारमूककल्पान्तवारिदम्
In some places, there were vast gatherings of great clouds along the paths of the clouds, crowded with immense masses, resembling the waters at the end of an age, with varied forms set as if painted, and silent like mutes.
उत्पक्षकज्जलाद्रीन्द्रसुन्दराम्भोधरं क्वचित् । क्वचित् कनकनिष्ष्यन्दकान्ततापादवारिदम्
Elsewhere, there were beautiful rainclouds, dark as the wings of mountain-dwelling birds; in some places, clouds shone with the golden glow of dripping sunlight.
क्वचिच् चन्द्राभतापाढ्यवृष्टमूकाम्बुदांशुकम् । क्वचिन् निष्पवनाम्भोधिसंशान्तं शून्यताजलम्
In some places, clouds were adorned with the cool radiance of the moon, raining down gentle light; elsewhere, the ocean of clouds was still, without wind, appearing as a net of emptiness.
क्वचिद् वातनदीप्रौढविमानतृणपल्लवम् । क्वचिच् चलदलिव्रातपृष्ठत्वक्कान्तिनिर्मलम्
In some places, the wind swept over the grass-blades on the terraces, making them lush; elsewhere, the shining surfaces of the clouds were pure, bright with the luster of moving clusters of leaves.
क्वचिन् मेरुदरीकल्पवातधूलिविधूसरम् । क्वचिद् विमानगीर्वाणप्रभाभिश् चित्रिताङ्गनम्
In some places, it was dust-laden from the wind, resembling the valleys of Mount Meru; elsewhere, the sky was adorned with the radiance of celestial palaces and the beauty of heavenly maidens.
क्वचिन् निरम्बरोन्मत्तमातृमण्डलमालितम् । क्वचिन् नित्यरवक्षीवक्षुब्धयोगीश्वरीगणम्
In some places, the sky was empty, encircled by the wild dance of the Mothers; elsewhere, it was filled with the ever-roaring, agitated hosts of great yogis.
क्वचिच् छान्तसमाधिस्थविश्रान्तमुनिमण्डलम् । समं दूरास्तसंरम्भं साधुचित्तमनोहरम्
In some places, there were assemblies of sages resting in tranquil meditation, peaceful and serene, equally distant from agitation, delightful to the minds of the virtuous.
गायत्किन्नरगन्धर्वसुरस्त्रीमण्डलं क्वचित् । क्वचित् स्तब्धपुराकीर्णं वहत्सुरवरं क्वचित्
In some places, there were groups of celestial women—kinnaras, gandharvas, and gods—singing; elsewhere, there were noble gods moving about, surrounded by steadfast cities.
क्वचिद् रुद्धपुरापूरं क्वचिद् बद्धमहापुरम् । क्वचिन् मायाकृतपुरं क्वचिद् आगामिपत्तनम्
In some places, there are cities with blocked entrances, in others, great cities are enclosed; elsewhere, there are cities conjured by illusion, and in some places, there are towns yet to arise.
क्वचिद् भ्रमच्चन्द्रसरः क्वचित् स्तब्धपयस्सरः । क्वचित् सरत्सिद्धगणं क्वचिद् इन्दुकृतोदयम्
Somewhere, there are lakes where the moon wanders, elsewhere, lakes whose waters are still; in some places, there are gatherings of accomplished beings, and in others, the moon has just risen.
क्वचित् सूर्योदयमयं क्वचिद् रात्रितमोमयम् । क्वचित् सन्ध्यांशुकपिशं क्वचिन् नीहारधूसरम्
In some places, there is the brilliance of sunrise, in others, the darkness of night; in some, the sky is tinged with the hues of twilight, and elsewhere, it is grey with mist.
क्वचिद् विमानधवलं क्वचिद् वर्षत्पयोधरम् । क्वचित् स्थलम् इवाकाशम् एव विश्रान्तलोकपम्
Somewhere, the sky is white with celestial palaces, elsewhere, clouds pour down rain; in some places, the sky appears like solid ground, serving as a resting place for the worlds.
ऊर्ध्वाधोगमनव्यग्रसुरासुरगणं क्वचित् । पूर्वापरोत्तरायाम्यदिक्सञ्चाराकुलं क्वचित्
In some regions, hosts of gods and demons move swiftly upward and downward; in others, they are busy traveling in all directions—east, west, north, and south.
अपि योजनलक्षाणि क्वचिद् दुष्प्रापधूपकम् । अविनाशतमःपूर्णदृष्टवद् व्योमवत् क्वचित्
In some places, even hundreds of leagues are difficult to traverse, shrouded in smoke; elsewhere, it appears like the sky, filled with indestructible, dense darkness.
अविनाशिबृहत्तेजः क्वचिद् अर्कानलोपमम् । हिमानीजठराशीतं क्वचिच् चन्द्रादिसद्मसु
In some places, there is an imperishable, vast radiance, like the sun or fire; in others, there is cold, as in the depths of the Himalayas, within the abodes of the moon and other luminaries.
क्वचिद् बृहत्पुरोन्नृत्यत्कल्पवृक्षलतावनम् । क्वचिद् दैत्यहतोत्तुङ्गप्रपतद्देवपत्तनम्
Somewhere, there are great forests of wish-fulfilling trees dancing atop lofty cities; elsewhere, there are celestial cities falling from the sky, toppled by the defeat of demons.
वैमानिकनिपातेन वह्निलेखाङ्कितं क्वचित् । क्वचित् केतुशतोत्पातमिथस्सङ्घट्टघट्टितम्
In some places, by the descent of celestial vehicles, there are streaks of fire marked; elsewhere, the sky is agitated by the collision of hundreds of comets.
क्वचिच् छुभग्रहगणप्रगृहीताद्यमङ्गलम् । क्वचिद् रात्रितमोव्याप्तं क्वचिद् दिवसभासुरम्
In some places, the sky is seized by groups of auspicious planets, while elsewhere it is enveloped in darkness, and in other places it shines with the radiance of day.
क्वचिद् दुर्गर्जदम्भोदं क्वचिन् मूकचलाम्बुदम् । वातावकीर्णशुक्लाभ्रखण्डपुष्पोत्करं क्वचित्
Somewhere, thunderous clouds roar fiercely; elsewhere, silent clouds drift; in some places, the wind scatters fragments of white clouds like clusters of flowers.
क्वचिद् अत्यन्तनिश्शून्यम् अवदातम् अनन्तरम् । आनन्दिमृदुशान्ताच्छं ज्ञस्येव हृदयं ततम्
In some places, it is utterly empty and spotless, immediately serene; gentle, peaceful, and clear, like the heart of one who knows.
शुकवाहनभेकौघैः क्वचिद् गलकृतारवम् । शून्यताराभिवलितं क्षेत्रम् आकाशवासिनाम्
In some places, flocks of parrots and frogs create a throaty clamor; the field of the sky-dwellers is adorned with stars in emptiness.
मयूरहेमचूडादिपक्षिभिः क्वचिद् आवृतम् । विद्याधरीणां देवीनां वाहनैर् विहितास्पदैः
Elsewhere, it is filled with birds like peacocks with golden crests and other birds, serving as vehicles and resting places for the goddesses among the Vidyādharas.
क्वचिद् अभ्रान्तरोन्नृत्यद्गुहमायूरमण्डलम् । क्वचिद् अग्निशुकैश् श्यामं शाद्वलानाम् इव स्थलम्
In some places, peacock circles dance within the clouds; elsewhere, the ground appears dark with fire-parrots, as if it were a meadow.
क्वचित् प्रेतेशमहिषमहिम्ना वाहनाम्बुदम् । क्वचिद् अश्वैस् तृणग्रासशङ्काग्रस्तासिताम्बुदम्
In some places, the clouds are vehicles for the lord of the departed, the buffalo, in his majesty; elsewhere, the black clouds are consumed by horses, suspecting them to be grass.
क्वचिद् देवपुरव्याप्तं क्वचिद् दैत्यपुरान्वितम् । अन्योऽन्याप्राप्यनगरं नगरन्ध्रकरालिनम्
In some places, it was filled with cities of the gods; in others, with cities of demons; some cities were inaccessible to each other, and some were riddled with narrow lanes.
क्वचित् कुलाचलाकारनृत्यद्भैरवभासुरम् । क्वचिद् गन्धर्वनगरसुरस्त्रीवृन्दबन्धनम्
In some places, it shone with the terrifying dance of Bhairava, resembling a mountain of families; elsewhere, it was crowded with groups of celestial women in the cities of the Gandharvas.
क्वचिद् कम्पद्गिरिध्वस्तवृक्षलक्षोक्षिताम्बुधिम् । क्वचिन् मायाकृताकाशनलिनीजलशीतलम्
In some places, the ocean was dried up by thousands of trees toppled from trembling mountains; elsewhere, it was cooled by the water of sky-lotuses conjured by illusion.
क्वचित् सपक्षशैलेन्द्रसमनृत्यद्विनायकम् । क्वचिद् घर्घरवाताढ्यपक्षप्रोड्डीनपर्वतम्
In some places, the lord of mountains danced with wings, accompanied by Vinayaka; elsewhere, mountains were hurled up by the force of roaring winds.
