समाधिस्थानकं गत्वा तस्थतुर् निश्चलाङ्गके । रत्नस्तम्भाद् इवोत्कीर्णे चित्रभित्ताव् इवार्पिते
They went to the place of meditation and stood motionless, like figures carved from a jewel-encrusted pillar, or as if painted upon a decorated wall.
सर्वास् तत्यजतुश् चिन्तास् सङ्कोचं समुपागते । दिवसान्त इवाब्जिन्यौ प्रसृतामोदलेखिके
All of them abandoned their worries and restraint as tranquility arose, like lotus buds at the end of the day, opening and releasing their fragrance.
बभूवतुर् भृशं शान्ते शुद्धे स्पन्दविवर्जिते । गिरौ शरदि निर्वात इव वृष्ट्याभ्रमालिके
They became utterly tranquil and pure, free from all movement, like a mountain in autumn, untouched by wind and adorned only by clouds after rain.
निर्विकल्पसमाधानाज् जहतुर् व्योम्नि संविदम् । यथा कल्पलते कान्ते पूर्णम् ऋत्वन्तरे रसम्
Through absorption in the non-dual samadhi, they relinquished awareness in the sky, just as the wish-fulfilling vine in spring gives up its full sap.
अहं जगद् इति भ्रान्तेर् दृश्यस्यादाव् अनुद्भवः । यदा ताभ्याम् अवगतस् स्वात्यन्ताभावनात्मकः
When the mistaken notion of 'I am the world' does not arise at the outset of perception, and both have realized their own nature as absolute non-being,
तदा दृश्यपिशाचो ऽयम् अलम् अस्तङ्गतस् तयोः । असत्त्वाद् एव चास्माकं शशशृङ्गम् इवानघ
Then this phantom of perception is completely gone for them; for us, it is as unreal as the horn of a hare, O faultless one.
आदाव् एव हि यन् नास्ति वर्तमाने ऽपि तत् तथा । भातं चाभातम् एवातो मृगतृष्णाम्बुवज् जगत्
That which does not exist at the beginning is likewise absent in the present; what appears is truly unmanifest, thus the world is like water in a mirage.
स्वभावः केवलश् शान्तस् स्त्रीद्वयं तद् बभूव ह । चन्द्रार्कादिपदार्थौघदूरमुक्तम् इवाम्बरम्
Their nature became solely peaceful; the two women were as if released far beyond the multitude of objects like moon, sun, and planets—like the sky.
तेनैव ज्ञानदेहेन ततार ज्ञप्तिदेवता । मानुषी त्व् इतरेणाशु ज्ञानाज्ञानानुरूपिणा
With the body of knowledge itself, the goddess of understanding crossed over; the human one, by her own body, swiftly according to knowledge and ignorance.
गेहान्तर् एव प्रादेशमात्रम् आरुह्य वै दिवः । बभूवतुश् चिदाकाशरूपिण्यौ व्योमगाकृती
Within the house, ascending a space the size of a hand, they became forms of consciousness-space, shaped as those who move in the sky.
अथ ते ललने लीलालाने ललितलोचने । स्वभावाच् चेत्यसंवित्तेर् नभो दूरम् इवागते
Then, O playful one, delight of play, with charming eyes, by the nature of mental awareness, you seemed to have reached the sky as if it were far away.
तत्रस्थे एकचिद्वृत्त्या पुप्लुवाते नभस्तलम् । कोटियोजनविस्तीर्णं दूराद् दूरतरान्तरम्
Standing there, with a single-pointed thought, you leapt into the expanse of the sky, an immeasurable distance, stretching for millions of yojanas, farther and farther.
दृश्यानुसन्धाननिजस्वभावाद् आकाशदेहे अपि ते मिथो ऽत्र । परस्पराकारविलोकनेन बभूवतुस् स्नेहपरे वयस्ये
By the inherent nature of perceiving objects, even in their sky-formed bodies, they mutually, through seeing each other's forms, became close companions, devoted to affection.
दूराद् दूरं समाप्लुत्य शनैर् उच्चपदं गते । हस्ते हस्तं समासज्य यान्त्यौ ददृशतुर् नभः
Having leapt from a distant place to a farther distance, as one slowly ascended to a higher position, hand joined with hand, the two moved onward and beheld the sky.
एकार्णवम् इवोच्छूनं गम्भीरं निर्मलान्तरम् । कोमलं कोमलमरुदसङ्गसुखभोगदम्
It appeared like a single vast ocean, deep, with a pure interior, gentle, and offering the enjoyment of the soft touch of a delicate breeze.
आह्लादकम् अलं सौम्यं शून्यताम्भोनिमज्जनात् । अत्यन्तशुद्धगम्भीरं प्रसन्नम् इव सज्जनम्
Immersed in the waters of emptiness, it was exceedingly delightful, serene, entirely pure and profound, clear as a noble person.
शृङ्गस्थनिर्मलाम्भोदपीनोदरसुधालये । विशश्रमतुर् आशासु पूर्णचन्द्रोदरामले
In regions where pure water rested atop peaks, in the abodes of full moon-like clarity, they found rest in hopes fulfilled.
सिद्धगन्धर्वमन्दारमालामोदमनोहरे । चन्द्रमण्डलनिष्क्रान्ते रेमाते मधुरानिले
In the gentle breeze, delightful with the fragrance of garlands of siddhas and gandharvas, emerging from the moon's orb, they enjoyed themselves.
सस्नतुर् भूरि घर्मान्ते तडिद्रक्ताब्जसङ्कुले । सरसीव जलापूरमन्थरे मेघजालके
They bathed at the end of intense heat, in a lake filled with red lotuses and slow-moving water, as if beneath a veil of clouds.
भूतलोद्यन्महाशैलमृनालाङ्कुरकोटिषु । दिक्षु बभ्रमतुर् भूरि भ्रमर्यौ सरसीष्व् इव
Across the earth’s gardens, mountain peaks, and countless lotus stalks, the two wandered in every direction, like bees among ponds.
धारागृहधिया धीरगङ्गानिर्झरधारिणि । ववतुर् वातविक्षुब्धमेघमण्डलमण्डपे
With minds dwelling on streams, they enjoyed the shelter of waterfalls and the domes of clouds stirred by the wind.
ततो मधुरकामिन्यौ विश्राम्यन्त्यौ स्वशक्तितः । शून्ये ददृशतुर् व्योम महासंरम्भमन्थरम्
Then, those sweet lovers, resting from their own energy, saw the vast, tranquil sky, empty and immense.
अदृष्टपूर्वम् अन्योऽन्यम् अन्यसङ्कटकोटरम् । आपूर्यमाणम् आशून्यं जगत्कोटिशतैर् अपि
They beheld, never seen before, each other’s deep recesses, filled yet unemptied, even by hundreds of worlds.
उपर्य् उपर्य् उपर्य् उच्चैर् अन्यैर् अन्यैर् वृतं पृथक् । विचित्रावरणाकारैर् भूताभ्रांशुविमानकैः
Above, above, above, layer upon layer, covered separately by various forms—strange veils of elements, clouds, and celestial palaces.
परितः पूरितव्योम्नां मेर्वादिकुलभूभृताम् । पद्मरागतटोद्द्योतैः कल्पज्वालोदरोपमम्
All around, the sky was filled by the peaks of Meru and other mountains, shining with the glow of lotus gems, resembling the interior of a cosmic flame.
मुक्ताशिखरभापूरैर् हिमवत्सानुसुन्दरम् । काञ्चनाद्रिस्थलार्चिर्भिः काञ्चनस्थलभासुरम्
With the radiance of pearl-crested summits, the slopes of the Himalayas were beautiful; golden mountain plateaus gleamed, illuminating the golden land.
महामरकताभाभिश् शाद्वलस्थलनीलिम । द्रष्टुर् दृष्टिक्षयासत्यजातध्वान्तोत्थकालिम
With the brilliance of great emeralds, the verdant hue of grassy plains; the darkness arising from the fading vision of the observer, born of the absence of truth.
पारिजातलतालोलविमानगणकेतनम् । बोधमञ्जरिताकारम् इव वैडूर्यभूतलम्
Adorned with clusters of pārijāta creepers and celestial palaces, its surface of beryl appears as if blossoming with the flowers of awakening.
मनोवेगमहासिद्धजितवातगमागमम् । विमानगृहदेवस्त्रीगीतवाद्यरवाकुलम्
Traversed by the swift movement of the mind and the powers of great siddhas, filled with the sounds of music and songs sung by divine women in aerial mansions.
त्रैलोक्यचरभूतौघसञ्चारविरलान्तरम् । अन्योऽन्यादृष्टसञ्चारसुरासुरकुलाकुलम्
Its expanse is rarely crossed by the hosts of beings roaming the three worlds, teeming with clans of gods and demons, each moving unseen by the others.
