Countless celestial elephants, with the moon and sun as their moving fans, are settled within my heart, like gnats inside a fig tree.
Even when I held the netherworld with my foot and supported the earth in my belly, and the sky upon my head, O Rama, I did not abandon my subtle minuteness.
In all directions, everywhere, at all times, as the doer of all, I remain established as the all, yet as the non-all, in the form of emptiness.
I have experienced being something, being nothing, having form, being formless, awareness, dullness, and consciousness in abundance.
Just as the ocean, though vast, is small to the fish charmed by Mount Mainaka, so too have I directly experienced thousands of creations, even within an atom.
Worlds, both hidden and manifest, have been borne in my body, like ancient cities reflected in a mirror by the non-dull self.
Thus, the states of water, air, fire, earth, and space have been assumed by consciousness, and indeed, in dreams, how wondrously does illusion unfold.
Even in that state, within the cavity of space, I have seen countless worlds, each as minute as an atom.
Just as the expanse of space is present within each atom, so too, in a dream, the multitude of creations appears within a city filled with countless dreams.
I became the very sky itself, the earth, and the ring of continents; yet, even as the all-pervading Self, I did not encompass anything anywhere.
By the earth, which produces all creepers, trees, grasses, and sprouts, through the drawing up of moisture, it is as if my intention alone has caused their flourishing.
Within me, who am the pure, spotless, consciousness-space, countless worlds exist, and yet some do not exist at all.
Consciousness, by its own nature, delights in its own wondrousness; these inner marvels are the visions of creation.
Whatever is experienced, done, or seen anywhere, is not found here except through the wonder of ultimate reality.
Each one is the Self of all forms, the doer of all, free from affliction; awakened, of pure consciousness, for all is of the nature of Brahman.
All, everywhere, the Self of all, all-pervading, the refuge of all—this is the domain of the awakened; I do not know the unawakened.
That which shines as selfhood in the pure space-like essence of consciousness, and which appears as the succession of creation, is in truth that very peace; it is like inner heat, for division is only an appearance—there is no real separation. The real exists, infinite and undivided.
Then, turning my awareness back from such perceptions with effort, I arrived at that region, the subtle space-like abode.
There, I did not see my own body present anywhere; I saw only a perfected being, someone else, standing before me.
He was seated, established in deep absorption, having attained the desired state—like the moon risen, like a fire whose fuel is consumed.
He sat in the firm lotus posture, tranquil, intent solely on absorption, his genitals resting between his ankles, beyond all sense-objects.
His shoulders and neck were graceful, his body shining with gentle beauty, his posture steady and elegant, resting with ease in his abdomen.
Illuminated by the radiance from his hands stretched beside his navel and from the light of the lotus of his heart, he seemed to shine outwardly.
His eyes, with lids gently closed, were like folded wings; all desires had faded, and he was clear within—like a lotus closing at dusk, as if asleep at the end of the day.
Maintaining an undisturbed, tranquil inner chamber of the mind, with a steady disposition, like the sky free from agitations.
While that sage, not perceiving his own body, appeared before me, I, with a clear mind, thought this at that moment:
Some great accomplished one has arrived in this sky-clad expanse; for a long time, like me, he seeks solitary rest in the vast sky.
He is contemplating here, 'May I find a secluded place suitable for meditation'; this hut has been seen by him, endowed with firm resolve.
Because of his unwavering thought about my arrival, he decided, 'I will abandon this body, now lifeless, and leave this place.'
He resolved, 'Let this remain here; I will go to my own realm.' As I was about to depart, due to the cessation of intention—
