All the experiences of the world, touched by a trace of pleasure, are abandoned by a woman in order to attain another, except for her own husband.
O chief of sages, with enduring youth, these sufferings have been endured for many years; see how misfortune has unfolded.
Then, gradually, that same passion in me turned to dispassion, just as a lotus becomes sapless when struck by frost.
With all attachments dispelled by the tendency toward dispassion, by your instruction, O sage, I now desire the liberation of the self.
For those whose desired goals remain unattained, whose minds are restless, and who are driven by deaths, death is preferable to life.
He, my master, now seeks liberation day and night; like a king striving to conquer his own mind, he awakens his mind.
O Brahman, for the peace from ignorance of my master and myself, speak words that are just and proper, and remind us of the Self.
When he, my master, abides in the Self without regard for me, then detachment and disinterest have brought me to the state of the world.
Thus, I am free from the influence of worldly desires, and, compelled, I fixed my intense desired concentration on traversing the sky.
Having attained movement in the sky through that concentration, I practiced the concentration further, which yielded the fruit of association with the accomplished.
Then, observing my own world-space, both past and future, I remained established in concentration, and it brought me accomplishment.
Then, seeing the heart of his world as external, I perceived the massive summit of the mountain that divides the world and the unmanifest.
Even after all this time, O sage, neither my husband nor I ever had any desire to see the Supreme.
My husband, absorbed solely in the pure contemplation of the meaning of the Vedas, is free from all desires and does not know whether he has come or gone.
Therefore, although my husband is learned, he has not attained the Supreme; but today, with effort, I desire that highest state.
Therefore, O Brahman, you ought to fulfill this wish; for the desires of the great are never in vain.
O bestower of honor, wandering always among the hosts of siddhas in the sky, I see here no fire of knowledge strong enough to dispel the darkness except for you.
O Brahman, compassionate one, even without a reason, the virtuous fulfill the wishes of those who seek them; therefore, having taken refuge in you, I am not to be rejected.
Then, having spoken thus, she was questioned by me; she created a seat by imagination and, seated swiftly upon that imagined seat, remained suspended in the sky.
How, O young one, is it possible for beings like you to remain inside a rock? How is movement possible there, and for what purpose is that place?
Sage, just as this world appears vast and splendid to you, so too does our world exist there, endowed with creation and dissolution.
Just as there are seasons here, so too the states of the three worlds exist there; mighty rivers flow, and immortals dwell in the sky.
Serpents move in the netherworld, mountains stand within the self, waters play in various forms, and winds blow in the sky.
Oceans shine with waves; beings gradually reach their end; creatures are constantly born and die without ceasing.
Winds blow, waters flow, gods appear and disappear in the sky; fires remain, planets rise, and kings protect the earth.
The endless dealings among gods, demons, and humans continue, restless as rivers flowing to the sea, until the end of the age.
The day-lotuses of the earth's lake, for countless ages, are like restless clouds—blossoming, closing, and opening again and again.
The moon, spreading its radiance in all directions with its own cool light, weaves the beauty of night for Rohini, dispelling even the darkness within the heart.
Delighting in her own state, moved by the mechanism of wind, the lamp called the sun shines in the celestial mansion of the sky.
Unrestrained, conceived by the will of Brahman, the wheel of stars constantly revolves in the sky, driven by the currents of wind and water.
