Those dream-beings of theirs are real, as experienced; both for oneself and for others, because consciousness is all-pervading.
Just as those dream-beings are real within themselves and within others, so too, your own dream-beings are truly real in the same way.
The citizens of your own dream-city whom you have seen are likewise established there even now, since Brahman is the essence of all.
Even upon awakening, the states of dream remain as they were; by that persistence, they are experienced, either as supreme Brahman or otherwise.
Everything, the Self of all, is everywhere and always present; just as space is nothing, nowhere, and is never destroyed.
In the boundless supreme space, in the boundless arising of perception, in the boundless gathering of mind, the multitude of worlds is boundless.
For each sheath of space, for each sphere of worldly existence, for each house in another world, for each continent and mountain,
For each expanse of a region, for each village and city, for each living being, for each home, for each land and age,
As many as have died, and as many living beings as are without liberation, all of them remain there; so many are the separate, endless cycles of worldly existence.
Among them, there are people within people, and again people within people; world within world, and again people within world.
Thus, this illusion of perception, without beginning or end, is but delusion; in the case of the knower of Brahman, only Brahman exists—there is no duality here at all.
In the wall, in the sky, in the stone, in the water, on the land—within all, there is only consciousness; therefore, the entire universe is that. Wherever the world appears, how can there be enumeration? For those who know That, it is supreme; for the ignorant mind, it is seen as manifold.
Then, a maiden with eyes like blooming blue lotuses and jasmine, graceful in her beauty, playfully spoke to me.
"Who are you, whose eyes resemble lotus petals? For what purpose have you approached me? Whose are you? What do you seek? From where have you come? What is your dwelling?"
O sage, listen as I properly recount to you the conclusion concerning the Self; you may freely ask, for I am moved by compassion for one who is afflicted and seeks understanding.
In some corner or recess of the supreme expanse of space, this dwelling of the world of yours is situated, just a small part.
Here, the three lower realms—netherworld, earth, and heaven—are established within, created by the single maiden of imagination who has attained the role of creator.
There, encircled as if by rings of islands and oceans, the earth, arising from the netherworld, is like the forearm of the world's fortune.
At the outermost edge of the islands and oceans, in every direction, lies a golden land, ten thousand yojanas wide.
Self-luminous, granting the fruits of thought, pure as the sky, made of wish-fulfilling gems, transparent, and surpassing even the purest celestial realms by its own radiance.
It is the playground for apsaras, immortals, and siddhas, delightful for their sport; beautiful with every enjoyment fulfilled by mere intention.
At the edge of that land stands the renowned mountain called Lokāloka, encircling the earth's domain like a boundary wall.
At times, it is pervaded by darkness, like the mind of one whose intellect is deluded; at times, it is ever luminous, like the mind of those endowed with purity.
Sometimes, it brings delight, as in the company of the virtuous; sometimes, it causes distress, as in association with fools.
At times, its nature is openly revealed, like the mind of the wise; at times, it is utterly obscure, like the mind of ignorant or untrained people.
Sometimes, it is untouched by the rays of the sun; sometimes, it is flooded with sunlight. At times, it is filled with the world; at other times, its horizons are empty.
At times, it is occupied by the city of the gods; at times, by the city of demons. Sometimes, it is a deep abyss; sometimes, a lofty mountain cave.
Sometimes, it is a circling vulture in the clouds; sometimes, it is a delightful mountain slope. At times, it is the summit of a peak, within the city of Brahma.
Sometimes, it is a desolate forest, swept by the wind of the world's end; sometimes, it is a flower garden, where groups of celestial beings sing.
Sometimes, it is a terrifying cavern deep in the underworld; sometimes, it is enchanting like the beauty of Nandana or the hermitage of sages.
