Hundreds of oceans, suns, skies, Merus, and so on, are effortlessly encompassed; within the wondrous sky of consciousness, dream-illusions appear, yet they are utterly insubstantial.
Because experience itself is mistaken for reality, and because causes are absent, the earth and the rest, being without any true cause, absolutely exist and do not exist.
Like the water in a mirage, or the double moon seen in the sky, these things may seem real, but they are not; even what is experienced as real is not truly so.
All these countless things shine forth only in the sky of consciousness and imagination, stirred by the winds of latent impressions and agitated by the movements of the self.
Gods, demons, insects, the sky, the fig tree of space—these fruits, full of flavor, are tossed about by the winds.
For one whose innate nature is pure, who is the source of all undertakings, and whose essence is pure consciousness, cities of imagination arise in the sky.
The firm notions of 'I', 'you', 'he', and 'this' are well established in the mind, just as toys in the mud are illuminated by sunlight.
These are sustained by the ever-satisfying, flavorful force of destiny, like forests heavy with fierce fruits, nourished by the sap of spring.
Great acts, non-acts, and even those that are not done, as well as voids, are all forms that arise spontaneously, created only in the space of consciousness.
They are truly composed of ultimate reality, though spoken of as other; things not attained are attained, things always absent are present.
The groups of beings of fourteen, ten, one, and so on—again, these same ones are within, others are outside, and yet others elsewhere.
Those made of hell, heaven, netherworld, kinship, and friendship, though seeming to be of great substance, are actually empty in the highest truth.
Like droplets in a sea of milk, rich in essence everywhere, they are waves—fragile within and without, and full of cycles.
They are merely appearances, the radiances of the self-sun; they seem to be born from themselves, like vibrations in the sky.
They are like trees for leaves—the intellect, ego, and mind—even though unreal, they exist, like a dream located elsewhere for people.
In the small baskets of ancient and Vedic doctrines and imaginations, they bear deep sleep, as if for corpses.
In the great forest of ultimate reality, there were wondrous mansions fashioned by celestial musicians in the sky, shining with the brilliance of the sun and lamps, exceedingly dense and deep.
They arose in the endless expanse of the sky and dissolved again, without any cause; at that time, with eyes clouded like those of a blind man, I saw the worlds as mere balls of hair.
Then, wandering all around and reflecting in this way, for a long time I entered a state where consciousness was unconfined, expanded like space.
Afterwards, I heard a sound, resembling the music of a lute; gradually it became clear in its words, and from that, nobility arose.
Following the direction of the sound, I saw a woman, her garments illuminated by the radiance of flowing gold at her side.
She wore garlands and garments that swayed, her eyes restless beneath disordered locks, her hair loose and moving—she appeared like another goddess of fortune newly arrived.
Her limbs shone with the golden hue of polished gold, her body youthful and full; she was beautiful in every part, like a forest goddess, exuding delight.
Her face was full like the moon, she smiled with clusters of flowers, her expression vibrant with the energy of youth, her eyes adorned with long lashes.
She, whose dwelling is the vault of space, whose beauty rivals the moon's rays, adorned with strings of pearls, my beloved, followed after me.
With a sweet voice, this noble and graceful lady, charming and smiling gently at my side, recited these solemn words, though with a touch of severity.
To you alone, O sage, I bow—who are the sheltering tree on the bank for those bewildered in the river of worldly existence, whose minds are empty, false, and deluded.
Hearing this, and seeing her lovely speech and voice, I thought, 'Who is this woman?' and, disregarding her, I went away.
Then, beholding the illusion that is the multitude of worlds, I was amazed, and, disregarding it as well, I resolved to roam in the sky.
Then, abandoning that thought she had caused, which remained in space, I, whose nature is space itself, set about contemplating the cosmic illusion.
