Hear now the story of the stone, the nectar of sacred teaching, which I myself saw before, whether as a marvel or as something natural.
Once, knowing what is to be known, my mind was full; wishing to abandon this world, the dense confusion of worldly dealings, I desired to let it go.
Having attained steadfastness in meditation, gradually seeking rest for a long time, abandoning all wavering and deception, desiring only solitude, I moved toward tranquility.
I reflected thus, in some immortal abode, standing and observing the various fragile courses of the world.
Indeed, this worldly existence is insipid, merely appearing beautiful at first glance; I do not think it ever brings true happiness to anyone, anywhere, by any means.
These objects seen and unseen, which grant desirable and undesirable results to the perceiver, generate inner agitation from intense distress and anxiety.
What is this that is seen, or what is it that is observed, or who indeed am I? All is peaceful, unborn, like space, pure consciousness alone, without any distinctions.
Therefore, having gone from here to that supreme place, inaccessible to all accomplished beings, gods, demons, and the like, one should conceal the self within the Self.
Invisible to all beings, established in non-dual absorption, I remain in that tranquil, clear state, free from all sensation.
Therefore, what place could there be that has reached utter emptiness, where these fivefold external perceptions are not experienced?
Forests of sound, water, mountains, and elements disturb even the meditator, though themselves undisturbed; therefore, for me, mountains and forests are enemies.
The various regions among the great mountains are filled with people and are entirely perilous, infested with the serpents of sense-objects.
The oceanic abodes, with their cavernous depths, are filled with multitudes of aquatic creatures, just as cities are crowded with people engaged in various bustling activities.
The shores of the mountains and the waters, the ancient cities of the guardians of the worlds, the peaks teeming with beings, and the chasms of the netherworld—
Resound with the singing of the wind, dance with the clusters of vines, and the deep caves in the mountains laugh with flowers.
The lotuses in the lakes, trembling at the touch of silent sages and ascetic fish, are dull and lifeless, their waters disturbed by swirling eddies.
The lonely earth, unsettled and untamed, rustles with the sound of wind, its grass and dust banners stirred by the agitation of the breeze.
Therefore, in some distant corner where the sky is not empty, I remain here, firmly established in blameless yogic discipline.
In some solitary corner here, I have, by imagination, created a hut with a diamond-hard foundation, and within it I abide, seatless.
Thus reflecting, I have entered the stainless sky, and as long as I observe it, I see its entire, all-pervading expanse.
In some places, there were wandering hosts of accomplished beings; elsewhere, clouds thundered loudly; in some places, mountains of Vidyādharas appeared; elsewhere, the abodes of Yakṣas were hurled about.
In some places, splendid cities wandered; elsewhere, battles had begun; in some places, clouds flowed swiftly; elsewhere, yoginīs danced wildly.
In some places, the cities of demons were submerged; elsewhere, there were cities of Gandharvas; in some places, groups of planets wandered; elsewhere, stars were clustered together.
In some places, the sky resounded with flocks of birds; elsewhere, the great wind was agitated; in some places, there were signs of calamity; elsewhere, everything was auspiciously adorned.
In some places, there were unprecedented floods, elsewhere concealed by serpents; in some places, overrun by the chariot of the sun; elsewhere, tossed about by the sun's chariot.
In some places, scorched by the heat of the sun; elsewhere, imbued with the coolness of the moon; in some places, unbearable for ordinary people; elsewhere, impassable due to the heat of fire.
In some places, haunted by howling ghosts; elsewhere, filled with Garuḍas flying upward; in some places, with clouds of dissolution; elsewhere, with winds of dissolution.
Then, leaving behind all these hosts of beings, I went farther and farther away, and reached a solitary, utterly vast emptiness.
A place utterly still, where even in dreams no living being has ever reached, free from all auspicious or inauspicious events, inaccessible to even perfected beings.
There, I imagined a hut with a clearly visible hollow, its walls seamless and dense, beautiful like a closed lotus bud.
