Wherever there is the sun, there is light; in the same way, wherever there is supreme detachment from sense-objects, there is the awakened mind.
Action, agent, and instrument are absent; the seer, seeing, and the seen are invisible; the world is ungraspable, unbounded, a marvel arisen on the unbroken reality.
In the peaceful, nothing arises nor is there anything at rest; that is the supreme, undisturbed, true, imperishable Brahman, free from all affliction.
Who can count the painted scrolls of the world in space—these are but displays of consciousness, mere imagined scenes colored by wonder.
Adorned with changing moods and emotions, dancing with ever-new gestures, these etheric forms shimmer toward each atom, their essence being the sky itself.
They are garlanded with all the seasons, their arms the directions entwined like vines, their roots in the netherworld, their heads crowned by the realm of Brahma.
With eyes that move like the moon and sun, their bodies bristling with stars, these are the fingers of the seven worlds, all around shining with pure, sky-like radiance.
भूतभावचलज्जीवाḫ प्रवहत्प्राणमारुताः
Encircled by continents and oceans, girdled by the Lokāloka mountain, filled with living beings that move and change, they are animated by the ever-flowing breath of life.
पुराणवेदवचनाẖ क्रियाफलविलोचनाः
Adorned with the ornaments of forests and groves, their speech is the words of the ancient scriptures and Vedas, their vision fixed on the fruits of action.
This dance of the daughters of the three worlds, which is seen before us, is the liquidity of Brahman, and its movement is the play of the wind of Brahman.
His remaining established in his own nature is the cause that is itself of the nature of cause; his not abiding in deep sleep during sleep is, like a dream, unreal.
O being, remaining unsleeping in the state of deep sleep, contemplating your own nature, even while awake, without distraction, take refuge in this dream-like state.
That state in which, while awake, there is the condition of deep sleep, a seat devoid of the taste of knowledge—those who know that nature know liberation, which is its transformation.
Action without doer, deed, or instrument; seeing without seer, seen, or sight; thought without form or light—such is Brahman, abiding as the world.
The beloved shines in the beloved, the full is established in the full; it appears where duality and unity are absent, free from both duality and unity.
Being exists in being, tranquil, established in itself as the essence of creation and the self, resembling the expanse of space or the interior of a stone.
Though dense like the womb of a precious gem, it is like the sky; though agitated like a reflection, it is unagitated, both unreal and real.
Like a city existing in the mind, ever newly created, it stands; its form is expanded as Brahman, with the mind rendered undivided.
Just as the city of imagination is not different from the thoughts that form it, so this apparent world is not different from the ultimate reality.
Like a golden throne, which is seen as having many future forms, the peaceful and unchanging abode is perceived, yet remains established.
Rich with ceaseless creation and dissolution, of one form, free from affliction, without birth or destruction, ageless, appearing as many, and radiant.
Brahman alone, established in the mass of peace, shines forth with the rise of creation, without setting or rising; like space, with empty majesty, it forcibly loses its own nature only for the unawakened, not for the awakened.
Just as a mirror is not different from the mind, so that which is peaceful is not different; being unmanifest and pure, how could creation and the rest arise from it?
When the light of the mind is gone, forms, lights, and intentions appear to vanish like illusions, as do the waves of consciousness in the ocean of awareness.
Just as the movement of wind does not depend on any cause, and as the spreading of light, so too is this world in the Supreme.
Like liquidity in syrup, like emptiness in space, this vibration of wind is something entirely made of the Self in the Supreme.
In the great consciousness, in the vast space, this world that appears is nothing but consciousness itself, shining with purity like a flawless jewel.
Just as liquidity is in water, just as emptiness is in space, just as movement is in air, so too is the world in the great consciousness.
As air knows movement, so consciousness knows the world; here, there is not the slightest possibility of distinctions such as duality or unity.
Through discrimination and non-discrimination, the world appears bright yet fragile; but in awakened understanding, it is truly unreal, unilluminated, and unbreakable.
