Do not, like a stone in the ocean, sink ever downward in delusion; rather, by knowledge, rise ever higher, like the moon in the ocean of milk.
Do not fill your mind with the counting of trees, grasses, creepers, and bushes, which arise and are destroyed like foam upon water.
The light of consciousness, which is the sun of awareness, spreads everywhere; by that, the world-house, with sun, moon, and stars, is revealed.
Relying without delay on that light, your own self, remain, and see, O king, the body and so forth as filled with space.
Just as a crystal, by its own nature, emits rays while standing still, so the sun of consciousness radiates worlds with its light of awareness.
Whatever pure shining of consciousness arises from the self as mind, this world-experience is that, filled with the vastness of awareness.
When Brahman, the supreme, is expanded in itself as Brahman, then there, notions such as existence and non-existence do not arise.
Where Brahman abides as all-powerful, transcending even the mind, and established by the power of being—there indeed is the liberated while living.
Where the infinite power of Brahman, through the power of consciousness, unfolds, there one attains the state of human, divine, or serpent beings, and the like, in a distinct manner.
Where, through deluded and confused consciousness, one abides in dissolution, there one attains the state of animals, spirits, and other such beings.
Where, through extremely deluded consciousness, one remains as in deep sleep, there one attains the state of trees, bushes, grasses, and the like.
Know that the body of a stone or a part of a mountain belongs to one whose mind, after countless lifetimes, has become utterly stupefied.
Just as a flower is pervaded by fragrance, or sugar by sweetness, so too is the entire world, along with mountains and sky, pervaded by the essence of consciousness.
Just as some water is agitated, some is calm, some does not move, and some is in motion, so too is consciousness.
When the form of consciousness is thus seen as all-pervading and indivisible awareness, then one has crossed the ocean of worldly existence and attained the state of the Supreme Lord.
Whatever Brahma, Indra, Vishnu, or Varuna set out to do, one should contemplate, 'I, the embodiment of consciousness, do all this.'
Whatever is spoken of, in whatever way, in whatever visions—O dear one, all of that is true; for all is indeed all-pervading.
Whatever place, foreign land, time, or calculation you know—know that all of it is Brahman alone; act as you wish.
Whatever form is conceived, the Lord of consciousness assumes that very form, manifesting every desired wish like a wish-fulfilling gem.
Whatever is imagined, that very thing is created, adorned, properly joined, and experienced by that radiant one.
Who can be compared to the one whose mind has attained pure consciousness, who has crossed over death, and who abides in supreme bliss?
Death alone is the boundary of all sorrows in the three worlds; who can describe the supreme bliss of one who has conquered it?
Having fully known all perspectives and all attainments, one abides above them for a long time, established in one's own Self.
Even endless, mighty, and diamond-piercing faults cannot disturb the knower of That, just as nothing can disturb pure space.
All faults such as old age, death, birth, and so on, ultimately end in self-knowledge, just as all rivers reach the ocean.
Nature remains restless, striving to end suffering, until it perceives the Self; upon seeing that, it becomes calm.
Just as arrows vanish upon striking a flower, so too, when the Self is realized, mind, intellect, senses, and the rest dissolve.
O King, in the beginning the world is empty, and in the end it is empty; therefore, know that even in the middle it is truly empty in essence.
Do not imagine the world as empty inside or outside, nor as inert or conscious, nor as the form of the Self or as something else.
Upon attaining this true nature, nature itself becomes still; once a thing departs from its own essence and is disturbed, where can it remain?
