The king exclaimed, 'Ah, indeed, we are blessed! The sage’s son has come again!' and offered a flower to the pot.
By good fortune, O venerable one, we remain established in your pure mind; for who, possessing great strength, would not stand firm in your gracious presence?
The sole reason for my coming is to be purified by you; tell me, which second purpose, O remover of sin, could there be?
From the moment I came to you, O subduer of foes, from that very moment my mind has remained here, united with you.
I find no delight in the pleasures of heaven, nor in the gardens of the gods, nor on the peaks of Meru or Mandara, nor in the caves of Kailāsa, O sinless one.
I desire only your company, charming in noble conduct, like a tree longing for spring, which resembles the flow of nectar.
Therefore, I remain here near you at this very moment; whatever you desire among these delightful things is placed at your disposal.
I believe that in this world, I have no relative, confidant, well-wisher, friend, companion, trustworthy person, or disciple like you.
Indeed, the virtuous trees on the mountain of our lineage have borne fruit, since even you—though unattached—desire our company.
This forest, these trees, and I, your devoted servant, are all here; if heaven does not please you, then, Master, remain here.
By the method of yoga that you have taught, I have found rest; O noble one, I think, where could there be rest in heaven?
Relying on that very pure and luminous state of your own being, dwell here as you wish—whether in heaven or upon the earth.
Have you found rest in that supreme state of great bliss? Have you abandoned this suffering that is made of division?
O King, has your attachment to those thoughts that appear delightful at first truly been uprooted, like a creeper on the riverbank?
Is your mind established in a state beyond acceptance and rejection, peaceful and equanimous, undisturbed by whatever arises?
By your grace, O Lord, I have seen the path that transcends the seen; the boundary of samsara has been reached, and certainty about what is to be attained has been gained.
After a long time, we have finally found rest and are free from affliction; all that was to be attained has been attained, and we have been satisfied for a long time, unharmed.
There is nothing that needs to be instructed to us, nor is anything useful; everywhere we are completely satisfied, established, and free from distress.
Known and unknown, unattained and attained, abandoned and embraced—yourness, otherness, myness—for me, as in the sky, nothing remains.
I am free from samsara, delightful in the absence of delusion, fear, and longing, ever awakened, with equal disposition and all-round serenity; I am the essence of all, released from all aggregation, clear as the sky's expanse, established in peace.
Thus, with these wondrous spiritual conversations, the two—knower and known—sat together for three moments in the forest.
Then, rising up, they bathed in some lake among the forest lotuses, and wandered in the forest, which was like paradise.
Through such conduct and those conversations, the two wanderers of the forest spent eight days along those woodland paths.
Then Kumbha said, 'Let us go to another forest, to the mountain.' The king, agreeing with 'Om,' and considering thus, both set out to roam.
They traversed forests of many forms, jungles, riverbanks, lakes, thickets of shrubs, and dense mountain peaks.
They also crossed rivers, regions, villages, ancient cities, dreadful deserts, mountains, groves, sacred fords, and shrines.
Both, equal in affection and appearance, stood together, equal in disposition and enthusiasm; they bathed and remained thus.
They honored the ancestors and gods, and ate together, O Raghava; they lay down together on the same bed and became of one mind.
In groves of tamala trees and in thickets of mandara, the two, united in affection and friendship, shone as a couple.
The mind, with its discriminations of 'this is to be accepted, this is not,' did not disturb them, O Rama, just as a storm does not shake a mountain.
