अनन्तम् इदम् आकाशं भूतौघश् चाचलादिकः । सुरासुरयुतं विश्वम् एतन्मयम् अकृत्रिमम्
This infinite space, and the mass of elements such as mountains, the world filled with gods and demons—all of this is composed of that, uncontrived.
पुस्तकर्ममयी सेना सर्वा मृण्मात्रकं यथा । द्रष्टृदृश्यदृशां सत्ता चिन्मात्रैकमयी तथा
Just as an army made of clay figures is nothing but clay, so too the existence of seer, seen, and seeing is solely of the nature of pure consciousness.
इदम् ऐक्यम् इदं द्वित्वम् अहं नाहम् इतीति च । क इह भ्रमसम्मोहः कथं कस्य कुतः क्व वा
This unity, this duality, the notions 'I am' or 'I am not'—who here is deluded or confused, how, by whom, from where, and in what way?
तद् अनन्तम् अनायासम् उपशान्तास्मि खं स्थिता । निर्वामि परिनिर्वाणा सत्यम् आसे गतज्वरम्
I am established in that infinite, effortless, tranquil space; I am extinguished in supreme extinction, truly resting, free from affliction.
अचेतनं चेतनं वा यो यो नामाभिचेतति । सत्तामात्रात्म तद्रूपं स्वं महाचिति संस्थितम्
Whether one conceives of something as insentient or sentient, whatever name is applied, its true nature is existence alone, abiding in the great consciousness as itself.
तेनेह नाहम् नान्यश् च न भावाभावसम्भवः । शान्तं सर्वं निरालम्बं केवलं संस्थितं परम्
By that, here, neither I nor another exists, nor is there arising of being or non-being; all is peaceful, without support, established as the supreme alone.
इत्थं विचारणपरा परमावबोधाद् बुद्ध्वा यथास्थितम् इदं परमात्मतत्त्वम् । संशान्तरागभयमोहमनोविलासा शान्ता बभूव शरदम्बरलेखिकेव
Thus, absorbed in inquiry and supreme realization, having understood the supreme Self as it is, she became peaceful, with passion, fear, delusion, and mental agitation stilled, like a line drawn on autumn sky.
दिनानुदिनम् एषाथ स्वात्मारामतया तया । नित्यम् अन्तर्मुखतया बभूव प्रकृतिस्थितिः
Day by day, through delight in her own Self, and constant inwardness, she remained established in her natural state.
नीरागा नीरुजासङ्गा निर्द्वन्द्वा निस्समीहिता । न जहाति न चादत्ते प्रकृताचारचारिणी
Free from passion, free from pain and attachment, beyond duality, without striving—she neither abandons nor grasps, but moves according to her own nature.
परितीर्णा भवाम्भोधिं शान्तसन्देहजालिका । परमात्ममहालाभपरिपूर्णतरान्तरा
Having crossed the ocean of becoming, her web of doubts stilled, her inner being was completely filled with the supreme gain of the highest Self.
विश्रान्ता सुचिरश्रान्ता घनलब्धपदात्मनि । सर्वोपमातीततया जगामाव्यपदेश्यताम्
Having found rest after long fatigue, established in the state of dense realization, she transcended all comparison and reached inexpressibility.
इति सा महिषी तस्य चूडाला वरवर्णिनी । स्वल्पेनैव हि कालेन ययौ विदितवेद्यताम्
Thus, that queen Cūḍālā, radiant in beauty, in a very short time attained the state where all that is to be known is known.
यथायम् आगतः कश्चिज् जागतस् स्पन्दविभ्रमः । यथा च लीयते सर्वं तत् तज् ज्ञातवती बभौ
She understood how some vibration of waking arises, and how all this dissolves—she shone, having known that.
अदृष्टसकलभ्रान्तौ पदे विश्रान्तिम् एत्य सा । रराज शरदच्छाभ्रमालेव गतसम्भ्रमा
Having attained rest in the state where all delusions are unseen, she shone, free of agitation, like a clear autumn cloud.
अनाकुलसमालोके आशश्वासात्मनात्मनि । जरद्गुर् इव शैलाग्रं सतृणं प्राप्य संस्थिता
With undisturbed vision, her own self assured in itself, she stood firm like an old mountain on a grassy peak.
स्वविवेकघनाभ्यासवशाद् आत्मोदयेन सा । शुशुभे शोभना पुष्पलतेवाभिनवोद्गता
By the force of deep practice in discernment and the arising of the Self, she shone beautifully, like a newly blossomed flowering vine.
अथ ताम् अनवद्याङ्गीं कदाचित् स शिखिध्वजः । अपूर्वशोभाम् आलोक्य स्मयमान उवाच ह
Then, once, Śikhidhvaja, beholding her flawless form and unprecedented beauty, spoke with a smile.
भूयो यौवनयुक्तेव मण्डितेव पुनः पुनः । अधिकं राजसे तन्वि जगद्राज्यवती यथा
Again and again you shine, slender one, as if endowed with youth, as if adorned, as if you possessed the sovereignty of the world.
प्रपीतामृतसारेव लब्धालभ्यपदेव च । आनन्दापूरपूर्णेव राजसे ऽतितरां प्रिये
You appear, beloved, as one who has drunk the essence of immortality, attained the unattainable state, and is filled with the fullness of bliss.
उपशान्तं च कान्तं च दधाना सुन्दरं वपुः । अभिभूयेन्दुम् आयासि श्रियं काम् अपि कामिनि
Bearing a tranquil and lovely body, O beautiful one, you surpass even the moon in radiance and possess a splendor beyond compare.
अभोगकृपणं शान्तम् ऊर्जितं समतां गतम् । गम्भीरं च प्रसन्नं च चेतः पश्यामि ते प्रिये
I see your mind, dear one, free from enjoyment, peaceful, strong, established in equanimity, profound and serene.
तृणीकृतत्रिभुवनं पीताखिलजगत्त्रयम् । अनन्तोद्भासुरं सौम्यं मनः पश्यामि ते प्रिये
I see your mind, dear one, that regards the three worlds as straw, that has absorbed all the worlds, infinite, radiant, and gentle.
न केनचिन् महाभागे विभवानन्दवस्तुना । चेतस् तव तुलाम् एति मेरुक्षीराब्धिसुन्दरम्
O greatly fortunate one, your mind, beautiful as Meru, the ocean, and the moon, is not equaled by any wealth or joy whatsoever.
तैर् एव बालकदलीमृणालाङ्कुरकोमलैः । अङ्गैस् स्थितिम् अनुज्झद्भिर् वृद्धिं यातेव लक्ष्यसे
With limbs as soft as young plantain, lotus stalks, and sprouts, and retaining their grace, you appear as if you are growing ever more radiant.
तथा तेनैव तेनैव सन्निवेशेन संस्थिता । अन्यताम् उपयातासि लतेवर्तुविपर्यये
In the same way, with that very same arrangement, you have remained—yet you have assumed another form, like a creeper at the change of season.
किं त्वया पीतम् अमृतं प्राप्तं साम्राज्यम् एव वा । अमृत्यवे वा सम्प्राप्तः प्रयोगो योगयुक्तिभिः
Have you drunk the nectar of immortality, or attained sovereignty itself? Or have you, by yogic methods, achieved some means to conquer death?
राज्याच् चिन्तामणेर् वापि त्रैलोक्याद् वा त्वयाधिकम् । अप्राप्यं किम् अनुप्राप्तं नीलोत्पलविलोचने
O blue-lotus-eyed one, what unattainable thing have you obtained—something greater than a kingdom, or the wish-fulfilling gem, or even the three worlds?
नकिञ्चित् किञ्चिदाकारम् इदं त्यक्त्वाहम् आगता । नकिञ्चित्किञ्चिदाकारं तेनास्मि श्रीमती स्थिता
Having abandoned this nothingness that appears as something, I have come; and by that, I, the fortunate one, remain established in that which is nothing yet appears as something.
यत् किञ्चिद् यन् नकिञ्चिच् च तज् जानामि यथास्थितम् । यथोदयं यथानाशं तेनास्मि श्रीमती स्थिता
I know whatever is something and whatever is nothing, just as they are—how they arise and how they cease; by that, I, the fortunate one, remain established.
भोगैर् अभुक्तैस् तुष्यामि भुक्तैर् इव सुदूरगैः । न हृष्यामि न कुप्यामि तेनास्मि श्रीमती स्थिता
I am content with enjoyments not experienced, just as with those enjoyed from afar; I neither rejoice nor become angry—by that, I, the fortunate one, remain established.
