He who stands firm in the world and in the water of the mirage of ego-sense, as pure consciousness—he cannot be instructed, for he is that.
The wise teach the living, discerning person here, not the childish, restless, unreal, or those merely called noble; just as a man gives his daughter, pure as gold, to one seen in a dream.
Then that individual soul, O venerable one, perceives the agitation of the body; for, at the beginning of creation, abiding in space, it attains a certain state.
In the supreme, transcendent space, as previously described, the soul perceives the body as manifest, just as a man in a false dream sees himself.
Because consciousness is all-pervading and compact, even a dreamer swiftly creates his dream body; in the same way, the soul perceives the body.
Then, saying 'I am the eternal, unmanifest person,' he thus identifies himself; by this, he becomes the first person, as previously mentioned.
In this way, in some creation, the first entity is called Sadāśiva; in another, he is said to be Viṣṇu, and the progenitor (Brahmā) has not yet arisen.
In some, he is the progenitor; in others, he is someone else; and he is the person of will, established as form through intention.
Strengthened by the first resolve, he assumes that mental form; whatever he imagines swiftly, that he fully experiences.
All that is truly unreal, like a phantom in emptiness; but through deluded vision, it appears as real, and thus arises the sense of 'I' and the movement of the world.
The primordial person, the creator and others, thus becomes himself; he arises in the sky for a moment and then dissolves.
Within a single blink, countless cycles of creation and great ages are experienced, merely through the distortion of appearances.
In each atom, in each space, in each instant, the existence and nonexistence of creations, cycles, and great ages occur.
Some are seen together, sharing similarity through hundreds of tendencies; some do not see each other, and some perceive but not the others.
Some are not seen by others, even when perceived by an unreal self; creations arise everywhere through creation, but they do not exist in the auspicious.
They exist in the supreme sky, having the form of space itself; and they themselves, as both real and unreal, dissolve like a mountain in a dream.
No region is occupied by creations, nor is there time or agency; nor are these of the nature of reality, nor is there a cycle or even a moment.
Nothing is born here, nor does anything perish; consciousness marvels at itself in its own wondrous form.
Just as in the rising and falling of a city in a dream, the world does not undergo movement through space or time, not even in the mind.
As with a mountain made of thought, though it seems to pervade endless space, time, and so on, it is not truly pervaded; so too is this unreal world.
Just as that primordial person, the creator of the world, comes into being, in the same way, here, an insect comes into being in an instant.
In this same way, among stationary beings, the four kinds of births—from Rudra and others down to trees—come into being each moment.
There are those who are supreme and not supreme, and some are exceedingly minute; this is their sequence, whether the creation exists or does not exist.
From contemplating the reality of this world-illusion in this manner, through the practice of dissolving distinctions, there arises the peaceful state, which is auspicious.
If the supreme consciousness is disturbed even for a fraction of a hundredth part of a blink, then this state arises as its manifestation.
If that consciousness, which is of the nature of knowledge, remains established in itself like a stone within a rock, it is then spoken of as the beginningless, self-luminous essence, called by the word 'Brahman.'
When this creation reached maturity, the supreme consciousness, newly awakened, entered into union with the finest particles of direction, space, time, and atoms.
Through the process of absorption into the subtle elements, living beings appeared, manifesting as animals, plants, insects, gods, demons, and the like.
Upon that eternal, firm foundation, like a garland resting on a thread, the universe, woven with existence and non-existence, abides within the cosmic body and the cosmic creator.
It is neither far nor near, neither above nor below, neither yours nor mine; neither past, nor present, nor morning; neither being nor non-being, nor in the midst.
