नित्यम् एव शरीरस्थम् इदं ध्यायेत् परं शिवम् । सर्वप्रत्ययकर्तारं स्वयम् आत्मानम् आत्मना
One should always meditate within the body on that supreme auspiciousness, the self itself by the self, the doer of all perceptions.
शयानम् उत्थितं चैव व्रजन्तम् अथ वा स्थितम् । स्पृशन्तम् अभितस् स्पर्शांस् त्यजन्तम् अथ वाभितः
Whether lying down, rising, moving, or standing still, whether touching objects on all sides or letting them go, one should remain aware.
भुञ्जानं सन्त्यजन्तं च भोगान् आभोगपीवरान् । बाह्यार्थगणकर्तारं सर्वकार्यस्वरूपदम्
Whether enjoying or renouncing pleasures, whether engaged with external objects or embodying all actions, one should recognize the self as the agent of all.
देहलिङ्गेश्वरान्तस्स्थं त्यक्तलिङ्गान्तरादिकः । यथाप्राप्तार्थसंवित्त्या बोधलिङ्गं प्रपूजयेत्
Dwelling within the inner lord of the body, having abandoned all other inner marks, one should worship the sign of knowledge with awareness of whatever is attained.
प्रवाहापतितार्थस् तु सम्बोधस्नानशुद्धिमान् । नित्यावबोधार्हणया बोधलिङ्गं प्रपूजयेत्
One whose mind has been carried away by the current of objects, but who is purified by the bath of awakening, should always worship the symbol of consciousness with the offering of constant awareness.
आदित्यभावनाभोगभाविताम्बरभास्करम् । शशाङ्कभावनाभोगभावितेन्दुं सदोदितम्
He should contemplate the sun, which shines in the sky formed by the practice of meditating on the sun, and the ever-risen moon, which is formed by the practice of meditating on the moon.
प्रतिभातपदार्थौघनित्यावगतसंविदम् । द्वारैर् वहन्तं शारीरैर् मुखे प्राणस्वरूपिणम्
He should meditate on the consciousness that always knows the multitude of objects appearing in the mind, which, through the doors of the senses, carries the vital force manifesting as breath in the mouth.
रसीकृतरसं प्राणस्वान्तोदात्ततुरङ्गमम् । प्राणापानरथारूढं गूढम् अन्तर्गुहाशयम्
He should meditate on the vital force, which enjoys the essence of taste, which is the noble horse moving within the heart, mounted on the chariot of inhalation and exhalation, and hidden in the inner cave.
ज्ञातारं ज्ञेयदृष्टीनां कर्तारं सर्वकर्मणाम् । भोक्तारं सर्वभोज्यानां स्मर्तारं सर्वसंविदाम्
He should meditate on the knower of all objects of knowledge, the doer of all actions, the enjoyer of all enjoyments, and the rememberer of all awareness.
सम्यक्संविदिताङ्गौघं भवभावनभावितम् । आभासभासनं भूरि सर्वगं चिन्तयेच् छिवम्
He should contemplate Shiva, whose limbs are well understood as the multitude of awareness, who is formed by the contemplation of existence, who is the illuminator of appearances, abundant and all-pervading.
निष्कलं सकलं चैव देहस्थं व्योमचारिणम् । अरञ्जितं रञ्जितं च नित्यम् अङ्गाङ्गसंविदा
He should meditate on Shiva as both without parts and with parts, abiding in the body, moving in space, uncolored and colored, always present in every aspect of awareness.
मनोमननशक्तिस्थं प्राणापानान्तरोदितम् । हृत्कण्ठतालुमध्यस्थं भ्रूनासापुटपीठगम्
He should meditate on that which abides in the power of thought and reflection, which is revealed between inhalation and exhalation, which is situated in the center of the heart, throat, and palate, and which reaches the seat between the eyebrows and the nostrils.
षट्त्रिंशत्पदकोटिस्थम् उन्मनान्तदशातिगम् । कुर्वन्तम् अन्तश् शब्दादींश् चोदयन्तं मनःखगम्
Abiding at the summit of the thirty-six categories, surpassing the ten stages of mindlessness, causing the inner senses such as sound to arise, and impelling the bird of the mind.
विकल्पिन्य् अविकल्पे च त्रिविधे वाक्पथे स्थितम् । तिले तैलम् इवाङ्गेषु सर्वेष्व् एवान्तर् आश्रितम्
Present in the threefold path of speech—conceptual, non-conceptual, and mixed—pervading all the limbs like oil in sesame seeds, dwelling within all.
कलाकलङ्करहितं कलितं कलनागणैः । एकदेशे स्वहृत्पद्मे सर्वदेहे च संस्थितम्
Free from the taint of time and artifice, yet associated with countless modifications, established in a single place—the lotus of one's own heart—and also present throughout the entire body.
चिन्मात्रम् अमलाभासं कलाकलनकल्पनम् । प्रत्यक्षदृश्यं सर्वत्र स्वानुभूतिमयात्मकम्
Pure consciousness, appearing without stain, the foundation of all calculation and imagination, directly perceptible everywhere, its nature consisting of one's own experience.
प्रत्यक्चेतनम् आत्मीयम् आत्मत्वेन पुरस्स्थितम् । पदार्थताम् उपेत्याशु क्षणाद् द्वित्वम् इवागतम्
The inner awareness, my own self, stands before me as the very Self; having quickly assumed the status of an object, it seems to become dual in an instant.
सहस्तपादावयवस् सकेशनखदन्तकः । स्वदेहो ऽहं चिदाभासो देवो ऽयम् इति भावयेत्
With hands, feet, limbs, hair, nails, and teeth, let one contemplate: 'This body, this reflection of consciousness, is myself; this god is myself.'
विचित्राश् शक्तयो बह्व्यो नानाचारा मनोदृशाम् । उपासते मां मानस्यः पत्न्यो वरम् इवोत्तमम्
Many and varied powers, of diverse conduct and forms perceived by the mind, worship me—the lord of the mind—like wives honoring a supreme husband.
मनो मे द्वारपालो ऽयम् निवेदितजगत्त्रयः । चिन्तेयं मे प्रतीहारी पुरस्स्था शुद्धरूपिणी
Let me consider: 'This mind is my gatekeeper, who has offered up the three worlds; this reflection is my doorkeeper, standing before me in pure form.'
शक्तिर् ममाङ्गगा बुद्धिः क्रिया चैवापराङ्गगा । ज्ञानानि च विचित्राणि भूषणान्य् अङ्गगानि मे
My power abides in my limbs, intelligence is present within me, and action is another aspect of my being; various kinds of knowledge are my ornaments, adorning my body.
कर्मेन्द्रियाणि द्वाराणि बुद्धीन्द्रियगणो ऽङ्गनाः । अयं सो ऽहम् अनन्तात्मा व्यवच्छेदोज्झितश् चिति
The organs of action are my gateways, the group of sense organs are my attendants; this is who I am—the infinite Self, consciousness free from all limitation.
तिष्ठामि भरितैकात्मा पूर्णस् सर्वावपूरकः । इति देवीम् उपाश्रित्य स्वच्छाम् आत्मचमत्कृतिम्
I remain, filled with the one Self, complete and all-pervading; thus, taking refuge in the clear wonder of the Self.
देववत् परिपूर्णो ऽन्तर् अदीनात्मा च तिष्ठति । नास्तम् एति न चोदेति न तुष्यति न तप्यते
Like a deity, one remains inwardly full and undiminished; neither setting nor rising, neither pleased nor pained.
न तृप्तिं न क्षुधं याति नाभिवाञ्छति नोज्झति । समस् समसमाचारस् समाभासस् समाकृतिः
He experiences neither satisfaction nor hunger, neither desire nor aversion; he is equal, conducts himself evenly, appears the same, and has a uniform form.
सोम्यताम् अलम् आयातस् समन्तात् सुन्दराशयः । आदेहम् एक एवासाव् अव्युच्छिन्नमहामतिः
He has attained perfect gentleness, is beautiful in every way, and harbors only auspicious intentions; in this body, he alone exists, his great intelligence uninterrupted.
देवार्चनं करोत्य् एवं दीर्घदीर्घम् अहर्निशम् । चित्तत्त्वावलितो देहो देवो ऽस्य परिकीर्तितः
Thus, he continually performs the worship of the deity, day and night, for a long, long time; the body, supported by the principle of consciousness, is called his deity.
यथाप्राप्तेन सर्वेण तम् अर्चयति वस्तुना । समयामलया बुद्ध्या चिन्मात्रं देहतत्परम्
With whatever is available, he worships that reality; with a mind purified by discipline, he honors pure consciousness as the supreme principle in the body.
यथाप्राप्तक्रमोत्थेन सर्वार्थेन समर्चयेत् । मनाग् अपि न कर्तव्यो यत्नो ऽत्रापूर्ववस्तुनि
One should honor everything that arises in its natural sequence as it comes; not even the slightest effort should be made regarding what is unprecedented here.
प्रातर् धर्मेहया नित्यं ततो ऽर्थक्रिययानघ । कामसंवेदनेनाथ पूजयेच् चेतनं विभुम्
Every morning, with the desire for righteousness, then through actions related to worldly pursuits, and finally with the awareness of desire, one should worship the conscious, all-pervading Lord.
