एवम् आत्मानम् आलोक्य जराशोकभयापहम् । सम्भृष्टबीजवज् जन्तुर् न भूयः परिरोहति
Thus, seeing the Self, which removes old age, sorrow, and fear, the living being, like a seed that has been roasted, does not sprout again.
सकलजन्तुषु जन्तुपदप्रदं विदितम् आद्यम् उपास्य यतव्रत । त्वम् अजम् आत्ममयं परमं पदं भवसि किं परिमज्जसि दृष्टिषु
Known as the primal, worshipped and observed by the disciplined, the giver of the state of being to all creatures—You are the unborn, Self-formed, supreme state; why do you wander among sights?
ततं चिद्रूपम् एवैकं सर्वसत्तान्तरस्थितम् । स्वानुभूतिमयं शुद्धं देवं रुद्रेश्वरा विदुः
That which is pure consciousness alone, pervading all, dwelling within every being, consisting of one's own experience—this is known by the lords Rudra and Īśvara as the divine.
बीजं समस्तबीजानां सारं संसारसंसृतेः । कर्मणां परमं कर्म चिद्धातुं विद्धि निर्मलम्
Know the pure consciousness as the seed of all seeds, the essence of the cycle of existence, the supreme of all actions, and the stainless foundation of awareness.
कारणं कारणौघानाम् अकारणम् अनाबिलम् । भावनं भावनांशानाम् अभाव्यम् अभवात्मकं
It is the cause of all causes, itself causeless and without impurity; the imagination of all imaginations, itself unimaginable and of the nature of non-being.
चेतनं चेतनौघानां चेतनात्मनि चेतितम् । अचेत्यचेतनं चेत्यं परमं भूरिभासनम्
It is the consciousness of all streams of consciousness, the awareness within the self-aware; it is both the knowable and the unknowable, the supreme, shining in manifold ways.
आलोकालोकम् अमलम् अनालोक्यम् अलोकजम् । अबीजं जीवबीजौघं चिद्घनं विमलं विदुः
They know it as the pure, unmanifest, unseeable, source of darkness and light, the seedless origin of the multitude of living seeds, a mass of consciousness, flawless.
असत्यं सन्मयं शान्तं सत्यासत्यविवर्जितम् । महासत्तादिसन्तानं चिन्मात्रं विद्धि नेतरत्
Know that as unreal yet full of reality, peaceful, free from both truth and untruth, the stream of great existence and the rest, pure consciousness—nothing else.
स्वयं भवति रागात्मा रञ्जको रञ्जनं रजः । स्वयम् आकाशम् अप्य् आशु कुड्यं भवति मण्डितम्
Of itself it becomes the essence of passion, the colorer, the coloring, and the color; it swiftly becomes even space, or a decorated wall, by its own power.
अस्मिंश् चित्तेजसि स्फारे जगन्मरुमरीचयः । स्फुरिताः प्रस्फुरिष्यन्ति प्रस्फुरन्ति च कोटिशः
In this vast radiance of consciousness, the mirage-like worlds arise, will arise, and do arise by the millions.
स्वसत्तामात्रसम्पन्नम् इदम् अस्मिन् स्वतेजसि । न किञ्चिद् अपि सम्पन्नम् अन्यद् औष्ण्याद् इवानले
In this, which is filled only with its own being and radiance, nothing else is accomplished—just as nothing but heat is accomplished in fire.
गर्भीकृतमहामेरुं परमाणुम् अमुं विदुः
They know that this minute atom contains within itself the great Meru mountain.
गर्भीकृतमहाकल्पो निमेषो ऽयम् उदाहृतः । आक्रान्तकल्पेनानेन न सन्त्यक्ता निमेषता
This instant is said to contain within itself a great age; yet, even when pervaded by an age, it does not lose its instant-ness.
वालाग्रकाद् अप्य् अणुना व्याप्तानेनाखिला मही । सप्ताब्धिवलयाप्य् उर्वी नास्यान्तम् अधिगच्छति
This pervades the whole earth, even with an atom smaller than the tip of a hair; yet, even the earth encircled by the seven oceans does not reach its limit.
अकुर्वन्न् एव संसाररचनां कर्तृतां गतः । कुर्वन्न् एव महाकर्म न करोत्य् एव किञ्चन
Without acting, he attains the state of doer of the world's creation; while acting in great deeds, he truly does nothing at all.
द्रव्यम् अप्य् एव निर्द्रव्यो निर्द्रव्यो ऽपि हि द्रव्यवत् । अकायो ऽपि महाकायो महाकायो ऽप्य् अकायवान्
He is substance, yet without substance; without substance, yet as if substantial; bodiless, yet of great body; of great body, yet bodiless.
अद्याप्य् एष सदा प्रातः प्रातर् अप्य् अद्यतां गतः । न चायम् अद्य न प्रातस् त्व् अद्य प्रातश् च वा सदा
Even now, he is always today and morning, yet he has gone beyond today and morning; and he is not this day, nor morning, nor always today and morning.
हुण्डुभिल्लिघले मत्तशुलुपिण्ठिलिसालघे । वेल्लिघिल्लिसलावोललासगुग्गुलुसुस्सुनी
Huṇḍubhillighale mattaśulupiṇṭhilisālaghe, vellighillisalāvolalāsaguggulusussunī.
इत्याद्य् अनर्थकं वाक्यं तथा सत्यं स एव च । न तद् अस्ति न यत् स स्यान् न तद् अस्ति न यत् त्व् असौ
Such meaningless speech, and yet it is true, and he is just so; there is nothing that is not him, and there is nothing that is not he.
यस्मै सर्वं यतस् सर्वं यस् सर्वं सर्वतश् च यः । यश् च सर्वमयो नित्यं तस्मै सर्वात्मने नमः
To whom all belongs, from whom all arises, who is all, and who is everywhere; who is ever all-pervading—salutations to that Self of all.
पत्त्रान्तरालगहनेन विलासवत्या हेलाविलोलघनगर्जितया मलेन । मल्लेन मल्लपदमालितमालवानां लक्ष्मीलताविवलिता वलितेव पुष्टिः
Like the playfulness of a vine hidden among leaves, swaying with the careless roaring of the wind, adorned by the dust of wrestlers in the wrestling ground, the fullness of prosperity appears as if entwined with the creeper of fortune.
इत्यादिकापि शब्दानाम् अर्थश्रीस् सत्यरूपिणी । तस्मिन् सर्वेश्वरे सर्वसत्तामणिसमुद्गके
Thus, even the meanings of words, the wealth of meaning in the form of truth, are contained in that Lord of all, the jewel-casket of all existence.
का नाम विमला भासस् तस्मिन् परमचिन्मणौ । न कचन्ति विचिन्वन्ति विचित्राणि जगन्ति याः
What are those pure rays of light in that supreme gem of consciousness, which do not move about or seek out the various worlds?
एषा बीजकणान्तस्स्था चित्सत्ता स्ववपुर्मयम् । बुद्ध्वा मृत्कालवार्यादि करोत्य् अङ्कुरचोदनम्
This existence of consciousness, abiding within the seed-atom, having become its own form, perceives earth, time, water, and so on, and initiates the sprouting impulse.
फेनावर्तविवर्तान्तर्वर्तिनी रसरूपिणी । कचितेन्द्रियसम्बन्धे करोति स्पन्दम् अम्भसाम्
Residing within the inner whorls of foam and eddies, taking the form of essence, it produces vibration among waters when connected with the sense organs.
एषा कुसुमगुच्छेषु गन्धरूपेण संस्थिता । कचन्ती घ्राणरन्ध्रेषु करोति परिफुल्लनम्
Abiding in clusters of flowers as fragrance, it moves into the channels of the nose and causes the experience of full blossoming.
शिलाङ्गस्था शिलाङ्गत्वं नयन्ती सत्यतापदम् । सर्गाधारदशां धत्ते गिरीन्द्रस्थितिलीलया
Dwelling in the body of a stone, bringing about the state of stonehood, it assumes the condition of the foundation of creation, playfully sustaining the mountain-lord.
पवनस्पन्दकोशात्मरूपिणी च त्वगिन्द्रियम् । संसाधयत्य् आत्मसुतं पितेवात्मपराजयात्
Taking the form of the essence within the sheath of air's vibration, it perfects the sense of touch, as a father brings up his own son, out of his own being.
अशेषसारसम्पिण्डम् अप्य् आत्मानं खसिद्धये । भावयित्वा नकिञ्चित्त्वम् इव खत्वं करोत्य् अलम्
Having conceived itself, the mass of all essence, for the realization of space, it makes itself, like space, entirely void of anything.
स्वसत्ताप्रतिबिम्बाभम् आकाशमकुरोदरे । धत्ते कल्पनिमेषाङ्कं कालाख्यम् अमलं वपुः
Resembling the reflection of its own being in the womb of space, it assumes the pure form called time, marked by the blink of imagination.
