By the mantra of the scripture of the Self, the cholera-like poison of craving is diminished within, just as autumn sunlight dissolves the mist.
When ignorance is destroyed, know, O Rama, that the mind along with its attachments is healed; when the clouds are dissolved in the sky, dullness ceases without obstruction.
When the mind has become mindless, the delusion of latent tendencies fades away, just as a necklace of pearls falls apart when its string is cut, O sinless one.
Those who do not contemplate the meaning of scripture are not able to disperse the dense clouds; they gather their minds only for the experience of worm and insect existence.
The restless movement of your lotus-shaped, lovely eyes, caused by ignorance, has now become calm, just as the wind-driven rippling of a lake subsides.
You have attained stability in that state free from both being and non-being, in the supreme, expansive state, like the wind in the sky.
I think, O descendant of Raghu, that through my words you have attained awakening, like one roused from deep sleep by the beating of drums.
Even the words of an ordinary family teacher take root, I believe; how could they not take root in you, O Rama, who are of such noble understanding?
Where the mind has contemplated the words to be received, those words enter within, just as water enters a field that has been thoroughly heated.
Here, O great one, we are always the family preceptors, the teachers of the descendants of Raghu; therefore, O noble one, you should quickly carry out what has been spoken, holding these clear words in your heart as a precious ornament.
Ah, truly, it is wondrous and remarkable: through contemplation on the meaning of your words, O Lord, this vast network of the world has become peaceful for me, even though it stands before me.
I have entered the supreme inner state, attaining delight in myself; like the earth cooled by rain after being scorched by prolonged heat.
I am calmed, possessing a cool nature, and I remain in pure happiness; I have attained serenity, like a lake free from disturbance.
O sage, the entire expanse of the directions is now perfectly clear; I perceive things as they truly are, as if freed from mist.
I have become free from doubt, with the thirst for illusions pacified; released from the dust and haze, I am cooled like a desert after rain.
I have attained that inner bliss within myself, free from limitation; O Lord, where even the taste of elixirs is regarded as mere straw.
Today I am established in my own nature, I am at ease, I am joyful; I delight in the world, I am Rama—salutations to myself, salutations to you.
All those doubts and calculations have vanished for me, like the wanderings of ghosts at night disappear with the coming of the radiant dawn.
In my heart, pure, vast, and cool as a lotus pond, my mind has found contentment, like a flock of cranes settling on a tranquil lake.
The doubt, 'From where and how does impurity arise in the Self?' has surely been uprooted for me, just as darkness is dispelled before the sun.
The Self alone is everything, everywhere, always, manifest in all forms; how can there be false notions of 'this is different, that is other'?
Who was I before—so bound by the chains of craving? Now, recognizing only the inner Self, I smile, blossoming within.
Yes, now I have truly remembered: I am that unborn one; by bathing in the flood of your nectar-like words, I am established in this state.
Ah, I have ascended to the vast, pure ground—right here, where the sun stands for us as if in the netherworld.
I bow to the eternal, ever-worthy of reverence, who has attained existence and is freed from the ocean of becoming; I triumph in the Self, by the Self, within the Self.
By the power of experience, O Lord, having entered clearly into the lotus-heart, through your excellent words, I have reached a state free from sorrow and have long attained my own true condition.
Once again, O mighty-armed one, listen to my supreme words, which I shall speak to you, desiring your welfare and with affection.
Even after attaining understanding, listen for the growth of wisdom; so that even those who are only slightly awakened may become free from suffering.
For one who is ignorant of the Self and identifies the body as the Self, afflictions arise and hostile passions overpower him, as enemies do.
But for one who knows the Self and abides in truth within himself, pleasures, like friendly senses, do not harm him, who is blameless.
