For a long time, my body-house was obstructed by you, deceitful one, lacking the company of the good.
When you, deceitful mind, have become inert and corpse-like, this body-house remains fit for the service of all virtuous people.
You were never truly its own before, nor are you now; inert and deceitful. If you will not cease now, O vetala, do you not feel shame?
Depart, O vetala of the mind, along with the goblins of craving and the spirits of anger and the rest, from my body-house.
By fortune, through the mantra of discrimination, the reckless vetala of the mind has left the temple of the body, like a wicked beast from a cave.
Ah, how astonishing and immense! By this inert, fleeting, deceitful mind, all people have been led into helplessness.
What is your prowess, what is your strength, what is your refuge? If you leap upon me, you likewise trouble the people.
You are only a deceitful self, not subdued by me, O wretched mind; you are realized as dead today, ignorant one.
For so long I have known you as abiding in life; I have suffered greatly, through countless disruptions, in the nights of transmigration.
Truly, today I have realized that the mind does not exist here as something dead; therefore, abandoning hope in it, I remain established solely in the Self.
By good fortune, today I have come to know for myself that the mind is dead; my entire life has not been spent in the company of that deceiver.
Having swiftly expelled the deceitful mind from the abode of the body, I now stand inwardly at peace, free from the disturbances of the mind-phantom.
For a long time, under the influence of the mind-phantom, I was agitated and produced various distortions; now, having done so, I laugh at them myself.
By good fortune, the mind-phantom, marked by the sword of inquiry, has at last fallen from the heart’s house, along with its tumultuous rise and fall.
With the mind-phantom pacified and having attained the pure path, by good fortune I now dwell happily and solely in the city of the body.
The mind is dead, worries are dead, the demon of ego is dead; by the mantra of inquiry, I remain calm, healthy, and alone.
What is the mind to me? What desires do I have? Who could be my ego-maker? By good fortune, this entire false assembly has been utterly destroyed for me.
Salutations again and again to myself alone, who is accomplished, eternal, of pure essence, known as undivided consciousness.
There is no longing for me, no actions, no worldly existence, no sense of doership, no sense of enjoyership, no body—salutations to myself alone.
I am not the self, nor space, nor even this 'I' myself; there is no limitation for me—salutations to myself alone.
Salutations to myself alone, who is formless, indescribable, luminous, of stainless essence, established in the one self by my own nature.
Salutations to myself alone, who is changeless, eternal, without parts, without individuality, all-pervading, and the source of all actions.
I have attained within myself that existence which is equal, all-pervading, subtle, and illuminates the entire world—salutations to myself alone.
I am not this, with limbs of mountain, earth, river, and quarters; nor am I even myself; the world, filled with all objects—salutations to myself alone.
I bow to that imperishable, sovereign form—myself—which is free from thought, delightful in tranquility, manifest as the universe and yet not the universe, infinite, unborn, ageless, and beyond all qualities.
Thus, having examined with the intellect, it is again considered in this way: O mighty-armed one, the Self is to be known by those who know the truth, by the great souls.
This world is indeed the Self—this is true, purified by the mind; but from where does the mind arise? How wondrous, that which is not a thing at all!
Because of ignorance, because of absence of mind, and because of illusion, the mind never truly exists; it is nothing but a delusion, like a flower in the sky.
The mind of one who is accomplished is unmoving, like the stillness around a tree, or like a child who has not yet boarded a boat; for the unawakened, not for the awakened, the mind is composed of unreality.
In the peace of ignorance, delusion, and confusion, we do not perceive the mind, just as at the end of the illusion of a spinning wheel, there is only the vibration of a mountain.
