This awareness-body, which is 'I', is never established anywhere; let the body fall or move as it wishes, by its own will.
After a long time, I have become 'I'; after a long time, I have attained my own Self; after a long time, I go to peace, as the world does at the end of an age.
After a long time, journeying through saṃsāra on its long path, I, long weary, have found rest, like the wind at the end of an age.
Salutations again and again to you, who transcend all, who are all, to you, to me; and also salutations indeed to those who speak of you or of me.
Victorious is that witness of the Supreme Self, untouched by faults or their perception, whose enjoyment of all endless pleasures is not experienced, and who has made no preparations.
O Self, just as fragrance is in a flower, fire in a piece of wood, or oil in sesame seeds, so you are present in every body.
You kill, you protect, you give, you thunder, you leap—yet, though your nature is without ego, this wondrous magic of yours appears.
Victory to you, Lord, blazing with radiant light, who opens up the entire world; and victory to you, who, having withdrawn all initiative, closes the world again.
Within even an atom of you lies this entire sphere of worldly existence; and the banyan tree exists, has existed, and will exist within the seed of the banyan.
Just as a cloud in the sky appears in forms of horses, elephants, and chariots, so, O Lord, you are perceived through the manifold illusions of countless objects.
You are the Lord of existence for the dissolution of the many forms of becoming; exist as the Self free from all states, excluded from both being and non-being.
Abandon pride, arrogance, anger, impurity, and cruelty; great souls do not sink into the mire of ordinary qualities.
Recall again and again those long-past, wretched states; ask yourself, 'Who was I? What was that?'—and laugh with the smile of one who is truly free.
Those undertakings have passed away, those days are gone and burned up, in which you were consumed by the net of worries and the fire of anxiety.
Today, you are the king in the city of the body, with vast desires; you are not seized by sorrows nor by pleasures, just as the sky is untouched by the rays of the sun or moon.
Today, having subdued the unruly horses of the senses and conquered the elephant of the mind, breaking the enemies of enjoyment all around, you hold sovereignty.
You are the traveler of the boundless sky, with ceaseless risings and settings; always shining, you are the sun both within and without.
You are always present, even when all gods are asleep; by your power, you are perceived, O sovereign, for the sake of the play of enjoyment and light, just as a lover is known by his beloved.
The honey of forms, brought from afar by the bees of perception, is drunk by you, accepted by your power, as you sit at the window of the eyes.
The boundaries of countless universes, traversed by the movements of inhalation and exhalation, are observed by you in the city of Brahman at every moment, as they come and go.
You are the fragrance in the flower of the body, the nectar and non-nectar in the body’s moon; you are the taste in the tree of the body, and you are the coolness in the body’s snow.
Within you abides the affection made of consciousness in the milk and ghee of the body; you dwell inside this body like fire within wood.
You are the supreme taste in waters, the radiance even among lights; you are the knower of objects, and you are the illuminator of all lights.
You are the vibration of all winds, the exhilaration of the mind-elephant; you are the brilliance and sharpness of the flame of intelligence.
By your power, illusion dissolves somewhere like a lamp, and like a lamp, it arises again elsewhere from some source.
In you, who revolve as the world-process, the circles of objects exist, just as bracelets, armlets, and anklets exist in gold.
This is you, this is I, and so on—by such words and the like, you yourself praise and speak of yourself, playfully, by your own self.
Just as a cloud, moved by a gentle breeze, appears in the sky in forms resembling elephants, horses, and men, so too are you perceived in various forms by the senses.
Just as flames in fire shine forth in shapes like horses and elephants, in the same way, you, undivided and unchanged, dwell in all created things as their appearances.
You are the unbroken thread stretched through the pearls of universes; you are the field for the crops of elements, the one who pours the nectar of consciousness.
