Just as countless rivers, each with their own name and form, flow onward and ultimately lose themselves in the vastness of the ocean, so too does the wise one, having let go of all distinctions of name and form, merge into the supreme, divine Person—who is beyond all that can be described or imagined. When a person truly realizes that highest Brahman, he himself becomes Brahman. In such a knower’s lineage, ignorance of Brahman finds no place; all are touched by that light. Such a one crosses over sorrow and evil, and with the knots of the heart untied, attains immortality. This has been declared in the ancient verses: those who are active and learned in the scriptures, who are devoted to Brahman and who offer with faith to the one fire—only to such worthy souls should this knowledge of Brahman be imparted, and only to those who have duly fulfilled the vow of the head. This, indeed, is the truth. Sage Angiras, in ancient times, revealed this wisdom. It is not to be studied by those who have not undertaken the sacred vow. Salutations to the supreme sages, salutations to the supreme sages.
