But as in the world, (creation is) solely for the sake of play.
Not due to partiality or cruelty, because it depends (on other factors); for so indeed scripture shows.
If it is said, 'Not so, because of the non-distribution of actions,' (we reply:) Because of beginninglessness, it is reasonable and is also observed.
And because all attributes are found to be possible.
And because the arrangement is not possible, inference is not (valid); nor is there activity.
If it is said, 'Like milk and water,' even there (the objection remains).
And because separation is not established, and because there is no dependence.
And because it is not found elsewhere, it is not like grass and the like.
If it is said, 'Like men and stones,' even so (the objection remains).
And because the relation of being a principal (entity) is not possible.
And in inference otherwise, due to the absence of the power of knowledge.
Even if accepted, there is no existence of the object.
And because of contradiction, it is unreasonable.
Or, like the great and the long, with the short and the small.
In both ways, there is no action; therefore, its absence.
And because of the acceptance of inherence, due to similarity, there is no finality.
And because existence is indeed eternal.
And because of possessing form and the like, the opposite is observed.
And in both ways, due to fault.
And due to absolute non-possession, there is complete independence.
Even if the aggregate is caused by both, its attainment does not occur.
If it is said to be appropriate due to mutual causality, it is not so, because the existence of the aggregate is not the cause.
And when the later arises, the earlier ceases.
If it does not exist, the assertion is obstructed; otherwise, simultaneity.
The attainment of cessation, with and without discrimination, is not interrupted.
And in both ways, due to fault.
And in space, because there is no distinction.
And because of recollection.
There is no existence (of the non-existent), because it is not observed.
And in this way, the same conclusion applies even to those who are indifferent.
