Vishnu Sahasranama

वसुर्वसुमनाः सत्यः समात्माऽसम्मितः समः । अमोघः पुण्डरीकाक्षो वृषकर्मा वृषाकृतिः

He is the treasure, of noble mind, truthful, of equal essence, incomparable, impartial, unfailing, lotus-eyed, doer of righteous acts, and of the form of righteousness.

रुद्रो बहुशिरा बभ्रुर्विश्वयोनिः शुचिश्रवाः । अमृतः शाश्वतस्थाणुर्वरारोहो महातपाः

He is Rudra, the one with many heads, the tawny-hued, the source of all creation, renowned for purity; immortal, eternal, steadfast, of exalted stature, and of great austerity.

सर्वगः सर्वविद्भानुर्विष्वक्सेनो जनार्दनः । वेदो वेदविदव्यङ्गो वेदाङ्गो वेदवित् कविः

He is all-pervading, all-knowing, radiant, commander of the universe, protector of people; the Veda, knower of the Veda, flawless, embodiment of the Veda's limbs, knower of the Veda, and wise.

लोकाध्यक्षः सुराध्यक्षो धर्माध्यक्षः कृताकृतः । चतुरात्मा चतुर्व्यूहश्चतुर्दंष्ट्रश्चतुर्भुजः

He is the overseer of worlds, overseer of the gods, overseer of righteousness, both the doer and the non-doer; fourfold in essence, manifest in four forms, with four fangs, and four-armed.

भ्राजिष्णुर्भोजनं भोक्ता सहिष्णुर्जगदादिजः । अनघो विजयो जेता विश्वयोनिः पुनर्वसुः

He is radiant, the food and the eater, enduring, origin of the universe; sinless, victorious, conqueror, source of all creation, and ever-renewing.

उपेन्द्रो वामनः प्रांशुरमोघः शुचिरूर्जितः । अतीन्द्रः सङ्ग्रहः सर्गो धृतात्मा नियमो यमः

He is Upendra, the younger brother of Indra; Vamana, the dwarf; tall; infallible; pure; powerful; beyond Indra; the gatherer; the creator; self-controlled; the regulator; the controller.

वेद्यो वैद्यः सदायोगी वीरहा माधवो मधुः । अतीन्द्रियो महामायो महोत्साहो महाबलः

He is knowable by the Vedas; the healer; ever engaged in yoga; destroyer of heroes; Mādhava; Madhu; beyond the senses; of great illusion; of great enthusiasm; of great strength.

महाबुद्धिर्महावीर्यो महाशक्तिर्महाद्युतिः । अनिर्देश्यवपुः श्रीमानमेयात्मा महाद्रिधृक्

He is of great intellect; of great valor; of great power; of great radiance; of indescribable form; glorious; of immeasurable nature; bearer of great mountains.

महेष्वासो महीभर्ता श्रीनिवासः सतां गतिः । अनिरुद्धः सुरानन्दो गोविन्दो गोविदां पतिः

He wields a mighty bow; sustainer of the earth; abode of fortune; refuge of the virtuous; the unconquered; delight of the gods; Govinda; lord of those who know the earth.

मरीचिर्दमनो हंसः सुपर्णो भुजगोत्तमः । हिरण्यनाभः सुतपाः पद्मनाभः प्रजापतिः

He is Marīci, the dispeller; the Swan; the splendid-winged one; the foremost among serpents; golden-naveled; austere; lotus-naveled; the lord of creatures.

अमृत्युः सर्वदृक् सिंहः सन्धाता सन्धिमान् स्थिरः । अजो दुर्मर्षणः शास्ता विश्रुतात्मा सुरारिहा

He is deathless; all-seeing; the lion; the unifier; endowed with unions; steadfast; unborn; difficult to conquer; the instructor; renowned in spirit; destroyer of the gods' enemies.

गुरुर्गुरुतमो धाम सत्यः सत्यपराक्रमः । निमिषोऽनिमिषः स्रग्वी वाचस्पतिरुदारधीः

He is the teacher; the supreme teacher; the abode; truth; one whose valor is in truth; blinking and unblinking; adorned with garlands; master of speech; noble-minded.

अग्रणीर्ग्रामणीः श्रीमान् न्यायो नेता समीरणः । सहस्रमूर्धा विश्वात्मा सहस्राक्षः सहस्रपात्

He is the leader; chief of groups; glorious; justice; guide; the wind; thousand-headed; soul of the universe; thousand-eyed; thousand-footed.

आवर्तनो निवृत्तात्मा संवृतः सम्प्रमर्दनः । अहः संवर्तको वह्निरनिलो धरणीधरः

He who causes cycles of creation and dissolution, whose nature is withdrawn, who is veiled, who crushes all; He who is the day of dissolution, the fire, the wind, and the supporter of the earth.

सुप्रसादः प्रसन्नात्मा विश्वधृग्विश्वभुग्विभुः । सत्कर्ता सत्कृतः साधुर्जह्नुर्नारायणो नरः

He who is supremely gracious, whose nature is serene, who upholds the universe, who enjoys the universe, who is all-pervading; the true doer, the truly honored, the virtuous, Jahnu, Nārāyaṇa, and Nara.

असङ्ख्येयोऽप्रमेयात्मा विशिष्टः शिष्टकृच्छुचिः । सिद्धार्थः सिद्धसङ्कल्पः सिद्धिदः सिद्धिसाधनः

He who is innumerable, whose essence cannot be measured, who is distinguished, who instructs the noble, who is pure; who has attained his purpose, whose resolve is fulfilled, who bestows success, and who is the means to accomplishment.

वृषाही वृषभो विष्णुर्वृषपर्वा वृषोदरः । वर्धनो वर्धमानश्च विविक्तः श्रुतिसागरः

He who has the bull as his emblem, who is the bull, who is Viṣṇu, whose steps are firm like a bull, whose belly is strong as a bull; who causes growth, who is ever growing, who is distinct, and who is the ocean of the Vedas.

सुभुजो दुर्धरो वाग्मी महेन्द्रो वसुदो वसुः । नैकरूपो बृहद्रूपः शिपिविष्टः प्रकाशनः

He whose arms are beautiful, who is hard to conquer, eloquent in speech, the great lord, the giver of wealth, who is wealth itself; who has many forms, whose form is vast, who is radiant with rays, who is the illuminator.

जस्तेजोद्युतिधरः प्रकाशात्मा प्रतापनः । ऋद्धः स्पष्टाक्षरो मन्त्रश्चन्द्रांशुर्भास्करद्युतिः

He who bears energy, brilliance, and splendor; whose nature is light, who is blazing; who is prosperous, whose syllables are clear, who is the mantra, who is like the moon's rays, whose luster is like the sun.

अमृतांशूद्भवो भानुः शशबिन्दुः सुरेश्वरः । औषधं जगतः सेतुः सत्यधर्मपराक्रमः

He who is born from the nectar-rayed moon, who is the sun, who is marked by the hare (moon), the lord of the gods; who is the medicine, the bridge of the world, whose valor is in truth and righteousness.

भूतभव्यभवन्नाथः पवनः पावनोऽनलः । कामहा कामकृत्कान्तः कामः कामप्रदः प्रभुः

He who is the lord of what has been, what will be, and what is; who is wind, who is purifier, who is fire; the destroyer of desire, the fulfiller of desire, the beloved, who is desire, the bestower of desires, the master.

युगादिकृद्युगावर्तो नैकमायो महाशनः । अदृश्यो व्यक्तरूपश्च सहस्रजिदनन्तजित्

He is the originator of the ages, the turner of the cycles of time, the wielder of manifold illusions, the great consumer; invisible, yet manifest in form, conqueror of thousands, and victor over the infinite.

इष्टोऽविशिष्टः शिष्टेष्टः शिखण्डी नहुषो वृषः । क्रोधहा क्रोधकृत्कर्ता विश्वबाहुर्महीधरः

He is desired, yet without distinction; esteemed by the noble, adorned with a crest, the descendant of Nahusha, righteous as the bull; destroyer of anger, creator of wrath, the doer, whose arms are the universe, and the bearer of the earth.

अच्युतः प्रथितः प्राणः प्राणदो वासवानुजः । अपांनिधिरधिष्ठानमप्रमत्तः प्रतिष्ठितः

He is the unwavering one, renowned, the vital breath, giver of life, the younger brother of Indra; the ocean of waters, the foundation, ever vigilant, and firmly established.

स्कन्दः स्कन्दधरो धुर्यो वरदो वायुवाहनः । वासुदेवो बृहद्भानुरादिदेवः पुरन्दरः

He is Skanda, the bearer of Skanda, the supporter, bestower of boons, the one who moves with the wind; Vāsudeva, of vast radiance, the primeval god, and the destroyer of cities.

अशोकस्तारणस्तारः शूरः शौरिर्जनेश्वरः । अनुकूलः शतावर्तः पद्मी पद्मनिभेक्षणः

He is free from sorrow, the deliverer, the savior, the valiant, the son of Shura, the lord of people; he is favorable, revolving a hundred times, lotus-handed, and lotus-eyed.

पद्मनाभोऽरविन्दाक्षः पद्मगर्भः शरीरभृत् । महर्द्धिरृद्धो वृद्धात्मा महाक्षो गरुडध्वजः

He whose navel is a lotus, whose eyes are like lotuses, who was born from the lotus, the sustainer of bodies; of great prosperity, enriched, ancient in spirit, great-eyed, and bearing Garuda on his banner.

अतुलः शरभो भीमः समयज्ञो हविर्हरिः । सर्वलक्षणलक्षण्यो लक्ष्मीवान् समितिञ्जयः

Unequalled, the destroyer of the mighty, the formidable, knower of time, the acceptor of oblations, the remover of offerings; marked by all auspicious signs, possessing Lakshmi, and victorious in battle.

विक्षरो रोहितो मार्गो हेतुर्दामोदरः सहः । महीधरो महाभागो वेगवानमिताशनः

Imperishable, the red-hued one, the path, the cause, the one with a rope around his waist, enduring; the supporter of the earth, greatly fortunate, swift, and of immeasurable appetite.
