Hear now the sacred narrative of the Lord as revealed in these verses, where each name and attribute unfolds like a garland of divine qualities. He is the mighty one who wields the excellent bow and the cleaving axe, fierce in battle yet generous in bestowing wealth. His presence reaches the heavens, his gaze sees all, and he is Vyāsa, the lord of speech, ever unborn. He is the triple Sāma, the singer and the song itself, liberation, medicine, and the physician who heals. He renounces, is patient and tranquil, the supreme goal and refuge, the very essence of peace. His limbs are auspicious, granting peace to all. He is the creator, the delight, and dweller in the lotus. He protects and loves the cows, is their lord and guardian, his eyes like a bull, his affection for the bull unwavering. He never turns back, his mind withdrawn in contemplation. He compacts the worlds, brings welfare and auspiciousness. His chest bears the mark of Śrīvatsa, he is the abode and husband of Śrī, the best among the blessed. He is the giver, lord, abode, treasure, manifestor, bearer, and bestower of prosperity—supreme good and refuge of the three worlds. His eyes and limbs are beautiful, he brings a hundred joys, is the source of delight, lord of the hosts of light, self-conquered, not subject to others, noble in fame, free from doubt. Risen high, his eyes are everywhere, without master, eternal and steadfast. He rests on the earth, is its ornament and prosperity, free from sorrow, and destroyer of sorrow. Radiant and worshipped, he is the vessel of abundance, pure in essence, the purifier, unobstructed, unconquered in battle, Pradyumna of immeasurable valor. He is the slayer of Kālanemi, the hero and valiant lord of the brave, the soul and lord of the three worlds, Keśava, slayer of Keśi, Hari. He is the god of desire, protector and desirer, the beloved, author of sacred codes, of indescribable form, Viṣṇu, courageous and infinite, conqueror of wealth. He is the supporter of Brahman, creator of Brahma, Brahma himself, the Absolute, increaser and knower of Brahman, beloved of the Brāhmaṇas, endowed with Brahman, knower of the Veda. His stride, deeds, and brilliance are great; he is the great serpent, performer and sacrificer of great sacrifices, the great sacrifice and oblation. He is worthy of praise, fond of hymns, himself the hymn, the act of praise and the one who praises. He delights in battle, is complete, fulfiller, virtuous, renowned for virtue, free from disease. Swift as the mind, sanctifier of holy places, source and bestower of wealth and treasures, son of Vasudeva, essence of wealth, noble-minded, and the sacrificial offering. He is the path to the good, honored by the virtuous, existence itself, true being, supreme refuge of the righteous, chief of the Shura Sena clan, foremost among the Yadus, the true abode, and the one who makes the Yamuna auspicious. He is the dwelling place of all beings, son of Vasudeva, support of all life, fire, destroyer and giver of pride, proud, difficult to conquer, ever undefeated. His form is the universe, great, radiant, and formless; he has many forms, is unmanifest, has a hundred forms and faces. He is one and many, all, who, what, that supreme state; friend and lord of the worlds, Mādhava, affectionate to devotees. Golden in color, his limbs are like gold, excellent, adorned with sandalwood. Destroyer of heroes, unequalled, empty, drinker of clarified butter, unmoving and moving. Without pride, bestower and worthy of honor, lord and supporter of the three worlds; of good intellect, born of intelligence, fortunate, whose wisdom is truth, supporter of the earth. He showers radiance, bears brilliance, foremost among weapon wielders; restrainer, subduer, swift, many-horned, elder brother of Gada. He has four forms, arms, manifestations, and paths; fourfold nature and existence, knower of the four Vedas, the one-footed. He is the whirling cycle, whose essence does not turn back, unconquerable, insurmountable, hard to attain and approach, fortress, destroyer of formidable enemies. Of auspicious form, essence of the worlds, fine thread, increaser of the thread, performer of Indra's deeds and great acts, knower of accomplished scriptures. He is the origin, beautiful and charming, whose navel is like a gem, with lovely eyes, the sun, giver of nourishment, horned, victorious, conqueror of all, knowing everything. Like a golden drop, unshakable, lord of all masters of speech, the great lake, pit, element, and treasure. He delights in the earth, grants happiness, pure like jasmine, rain-giver, purifier, wind, whose desires and form are immortal, all-knowing, facing everywhere. Easily attained, of excellent vows, accomplished, conqueror and tormentor of enemies, the banyan, cluster fig, sacred fig tree, destroyer of Chanura and Andhaka. His radiance is a thousandfold, seven tongues, kindled in seven ways, seven vehicles; formless, sinless, inconceivable, creator and destroyer of fear. Subtle, vast, slender, massive, bearer of qualities and beyond, the great one; unsupported, self-supported, self-faced, ancient ancestor, increaser of the lineage. He is the bearer of the burden, known as the yogi, lord of yogis, giver of all desires, place of rest, ascetic, emaciated, golden-winged, whose vehicle is the wind. He wields the bow, is the knowledge of the bow and staff, subduer, self-control; unconquered, all-enduring, restrainer, unrestrained, infallible. Steadfast in virtue, endowed with purity, truthful, devoted to truth and righteousness; intent, worthy of affection and honor, does what is dear, increases love. He moves through the sky, radiant and splendid, enjoyer of offerings, all-pervading; the sun, the shining one, illuminator, begetter, whose eyes are the sun. Endless, enjoyer and experiencer, giver of happiness, born in many ways, the eldest; never despondent, always patient, foundation of the worlds, wondrous. Eternal, most ancient among the eternal, Kapila, undying, giver and doer of good, auspiciousness itself, enjoyer and giver of auspicious gifts. Not fierce, wears earrings, bears the discus, strides and commands with power and strength; transcends and endures sound, cool, brings the night. Not cruel, charming, skillful, dexterous, best among the forgiving; supreme in knowledge, free from fear, whose praise and hearing are meritorious. Deliverer, destroyer of evil deeds, pure, dispeller of bad dreams; slayer of heroes, protector, saintly, giver of life, ever steadfast. Infinite forms, endless glory, conquered anger, removes fear; four-sided, profound in essence, the directions, giver and embodiment of directions. Such is the Lord, whose names and qualities encompass all creation, embodying every virtue and glory, the supreme refuge, and the eternal protector of all beings.
