Let me share with you the wondrous narrative of the Supreme, as revealed in these sacred verses. He is the protector of righteousness, acting always in accordance with dharma and firmly established in it. He embodies both what is real and unreal, the perishable and the imperishable, remaining forever unknowable to ordinary comprehension. With a thousand rays, He is the creator, imprinting the marks of existence upon all things. He is the wheel of the sun’s rays, abiding in purity, the lion among beings, and the great lord of all creatures. He is the primeval God, the Great God, the Lord of gods, the teacher of the supporter of gods. Transcendent and beyond, He guards the earth and protects all, attainable through knowledge, ancient and eternal. He supports and enjoys embodied beings, is the lord of monkeys, and is exceedingly generous in gifts. He drinks Soma, partakes of immortality, and is Soma itself. Conqueror of many, supreme among men, humble yet victorious, steadfast in truth, descendant of Dasharha, and lord of the Sātvatas. He is to be directed, the living being, the humble one, the witness, the giver of liberation, whose stride is immeasurable. He is the ocean, of infinite self, lying upon the great waters, the ender of all. Unborn and supremely worthy, He is of inherent nature, conqueror of foes, giver of delight and bliss, source of joy, and joy itself. He upholds true righteousness and has traversed the three worlds. He is the great sage Kapila, the teacher, the grateful one, lord of the earth, the one with three strides, overseer of the gods, the one with great horns, destroyer of death. He is the great boar, Govinda, adorned with a beautiful army and golden armlets. He is mysterious, profound, unfathomable, hidden, and bears the discus and mace. He is the creator, whose limbs are auspicious, unconquered, Krishna, firm, Sankarshana, infallible, Varuna, son of Varuna, the tree, lotus-eyed, and of great mind. He is the blessed one, destroyer of fortune, joyful, wearer of the forest garland, wielder of the plough, son of Aditi, radiant sun, enduring, and best among those who move. He wields the excellent bow and the cleaving axe, is fierce, bestows wealth, touches the heavens, sees all, is Vyāsa, lord of speech, and unborn. He is the triple Sāma, singer of Sāma, Sāma itself, liberation, medicine, physician, renouncer, patient, tranquil, the goal, peace, and supreme refuge. His limbs are auspicious, He grants peace, delights, dwells in the lotus, protector and lord of cows, guardian, with eyes like a bull, and loves the bull. He does not turn back, His mind withdrawn, the compactor, bringer of welfare, auspicious, His chest bearing the mark of Śrīvatsa. He is the abode and husband of Śrī, best among the blessed. He is the giver, lord, abode, treasure, manifestor, bearer, and bestower of prosperity; supreme good, possessor of prosperity, and refuge of the three worlds. He has beautiful eyes, beautiful limbs, a hundred joys, source of delight, lord of the hosts of light, self-conquered, not subject to others, noble fame, and free from doubt. Risen high, His eyes everywhere, without master, eternal and steadfast, resting on the earth, ornament of the earth, prosperity itself, free from sorrow, destroyer of sorrow. Radiant, worshipped, vessel of abundance, pure in essence, purifier, unobstructed, unconquered in battle, Pradyumna, of immeasurable valor. He is the slayer of Kālanemi, hero, valiant one, lord of the brave, soul and lord of the three worlds, Keśava, slayer of Keśi, Hari. He is the god of desire, protector of desires, desirer, beloved, author of sacred codes, of indescribable form, Viṣṇu, courageous, infinite, conqueror of wealth. Supporter of Brahman, creator of Brahma, Brahma itself, the Absolute, increaser and knower of Brahman, belonging to and endowed with Brahman, knower of the Veda, beloved of the Brāhmaṇas. Of great stride, great deeds, great brilliance, the great serpent, performer of great sacrifices, great sacrificer, the great sacrifice, and the great oblation. He is worthy of praise, fond of hymns, Himself the hymn, the act of praise, and the one who praises; He delights in battle, is complete, fulfiller, virtuous, renowned for virtue, and free from disease. Swift as the mind, sanctifier of holy places, source and bestower of wealth and treasures, son of Vasudeva, essence of wealth, noble-minded, and the sacrificial offering. He is the path to the good, honored by the virtuous, existence itself, true being, supreme refuge of the righteous; chief of the Shura Sena clan, foremost among the Yadus, the true abode, and the one who makes the Yamuna auspicious. He is the dwelling place of all beings, son of Vasudeva, support of all life, fire, destroyer and giver of pride, proud, difficult to conquer, and ever undefeated. His form is the universe, vast and radiant, formless and manifest in many ways, unmanifest, with a hundred forms and faces. He is one and many, all, who, what, that supreme state; friend and lord of the worlds, Mādhava, affectionate to devotees. Golden in color, with limbs like gold, adorned with sandalwood, destroyer of heroes, unequalled, empty, who drinks clarified butter, unmoving and moving. Without pride, bestower and worthy of honor, lord and supporter of the three worlds; of good intellect, born of intelligence, fortunate, whose wisdom is truth, supporter of the earth. He showers radiance, bears brilliance, foremost among wielders of weapons; restrainer, subduer, swift, with many horns, elder brother of Gada. He of four forms, four arms, four manifestations, four paths; fourfold nature and existence, knower of the four Vedas, the one-footed. He is the whirling cycle, whose essence does not turn back, unconquerable, insurmountable; hard to attain, hard to approach, the fortress, difficult to dwell in, destroyer of formidable enemies. Of auspicious form, essence of the worlds, of fine thread, increaser of the thread; performer of Indra's deeds, of great deeds, performer of accomplished acts, knower of accomplished scriptures. He is the origin, beautiful and charming, whose navel is like a gem, with lovely eyes, the sun, giver of nourishment, horned, victorious, conqueror of all, knower of everything. Like a golden drop, unshakable, lord of all masters of speech, the great lake, the great pit, the great element, the great treasure. He delights in the earth, grants happiness, pure like jasmine, rain-giver, purifier, wind, whose desires and form are immortal, all-knowing, facing everywhere. Easily attained, of excellent vows, accomplished, conqueror and tormentor of foes, the banyan, cluster fig, sacred fig tree, destroyer of Chanura and Andhaka. His radiance is a thousandfold, with seven tongues, kindled in seven ways, seven vehicles; formless, sinless, inconceivable, creator and destroyer of fear. Subtle and vast, slender and massive, bearer of qualities and beyond qualities, the great one; unsupported, self-supported, self-faced, ancient ancestor, increaser of the lineage. Such is the Supreme, whose glory shines through all worlds and all beings, ever present, ever compassionate, the source and refuge of all.
