He is Marīci, the luminous ray who dispels darkness, the Swan who glides serene and wise, the one with splendid wings that span the heavens. Among serpents, he is foremost; his navel shines with gold, and his austerity is profound. From his lotus-naveled form, all creatures arise, for he is their lord and sustainer. He is deathless, seeing all with unfailing vision. Like a lion, majestic and fearless, he unites all things, steadfast in purpose, unborn and unconquerable. As the supreme instructor, renowned in spirit, he destroys the enemies of the gods, upholding cosmic order. He is the teacher and the supreme guide, the very abode where all rest. He is truth itself, whose valor lies in truth. He blinks and does not blink, adorned with garlands, master of speech, and noble in mind. As the leader, he stands at the head of all groups, resplendent and just, guiding as the wind moves unseen. He is the thousand-headed, thousand-eyed, and thousand-footed soul of the universe, pervading all. He causes the cycles of creation and dissolution, his nature withdrawn and veiled in mystery. He crushes all obstacles, embodying the day of cosmic dissolution, the fire and wind, and the steadfast supporter of the earth. Supremely gracious and serene, he upholds and enjoys the universe, pervading all. He is the true doer, the truly honored, the virtuous Jahnu, Nārāyaṇa, and Nara. Innumerable and immeasurable, he is distinguished and instructs the noble. Pure and fulfilled in purpose, he bestows success and is the very means to accomplishment. His emblem is the bull, and he is strong and firm like the bull himself. He is Viṣṇu, who causes growth and is ever growing, distinct, and the ocean from which the Vedas flow. His arms are beautiful and mighty, hard to conquer, eloquent in speech. He is the great lord, the giver and embodiment of wealth, of many forms and vast stature, radiant and illuminating all. He bears energy, brilliance, and splendor; his very nature is light and blazing. Prosperous and clear in speech, he is the mantra, soothing as the moon’s rays, and his luster rivals the sun. Born from the nectar-rayed moon, he is also the sun, marked by the hare, the lord of the gods. He is the healing medicine, the bridge of the world, whose valor is rooted in truth and righteousness. He is lord of all that has been, will be, and is. He is the wind, the purifier, the fire; he destroys and fulfills desire, beloved and the bestower of all wishes, the supreme master. He is the originator of the ages, turning the cycles of time, wielding countless illusions, the great consumer. Though invisible, he manifests in countless forms, conquering thousands and overcoming the infinite. He is desired by all, yet remains without distinction. Esteemed by the noble, adorned with a crest, a descendant of Nahusha, righteous as the bull. He destroys anger and creates wrath, the doer whose arms are the universe, bearing the earth itself. Unwavering and renowned, he is the vital breath and giver of life, the younger brother of Indra. He is the ocean of waters, the foundation of all, ever vigilant and firmly established. He is Skanda and the bearer of Skanda, the supporter, bestower of boons, moving with the wind. As Vāsudeva, he shines with vast radiance, the primeval god, destroyer of cities. Free from sorrow, he is the deliverer and savior, valiant son of Shura, lord of people. Favorable and ever-turning, his hands and eyes are as beautiful as lotuses. His navel and eyes are like lotuses, born from the lotus, sustainer of all bodies, of great prosperity and ancient spirit, bearing Garuda on his banner. He is unequalled, destroyer of the mighty, formidable and knower of time, acceptor of oblations and remover of offerings. Marked by all auspicious signs, he possesses Lakshmi and is ever victorious in battle. Imperishable and red-hued, he is the path and the cause, girded with a rope, enduring and swift. He supports the earth, greatly fortunate, and his appetite is immeasurable. He is the origin, the agitator, the divine womb of prosperity, the supreme lord. He is the instrument, the cause, the doer, the unique creator, unfathomable and mysterious. He is resolve, the foundation, the form, the giver of position, constant and of supreme prosperity. Perfectly clear, contented, nourished, his gaze is always auspicious. He brings delight and cessation, free from passion, the path and the guide, the one who can be led or not led, the hero, foremost among the powerful, righteousness itself, and the best knower of righteousness. He is Vaikuntha, the cosmic person, the vital breath, giver of life, the sacred syllable Om, vast and golden-embryo, destroyer of enemies, all-pervading wind, and the transcendent. He is the season, of beautiful vision, time itself, the highest lord and possessor, fierce and skillful, the year, repose, and universally skillful. He is expansion, immovable and stable, the measure, the imperishable seed, meaning and non-meaning, the great treasury, great enjoyment, and great wealth. Never weary, exceedingly strong, he is the earth and the pillar of righteousness, the great sacrifice, the axis and lord of the stars, patient, thin, and the mover. He is sacrifice itself, the worshipped and greatly worshipped, the ritual and session, the path of the virtuous. All-seeing, liberated in spirit, all-knowing, he is supreme knowledge. Firm in his vows, with a pleasant face and melodious voice, subtle and bestower of happiness, a good friend who captivates the mind and has conquered anger. His arms are heroic, and he is the destroyer. He causes sleep, is self-controlled and all-pervading, of many forms and actions. He is the year, affectionate, protector of calves, the jewel within, and lord of wealth. He protects righteousness, acts righteously, and is established in righteousness. He is both real and unreal, perishable and imperishable, unknowable, shining with a thousand rays, the creator who has established all marks. He is the wheel of the sun’s rays, abiding in purity, the lion, the great lord of beings. The primeval god, the great god, lord of gods, teacher of the supporter of gods. He is the transcendent one, protector of the earth, the guardian, attainable through knowledge, ancient, supporter and enjoyer of embodied beings, lord of the monkeys, and exceedingly generous. He drinks Soma, drinks immortality, and is Soma itself. Conqueror of many, supreme among men, humble and victorious, steadfast in truth, descendant of Dasharha, and lord of the Sātvatas. He is to be directed, the living being, the humble one, the witness, giver of liberation, of immeasurable stride. He is the ocean, of infinite self, who lies upon the great waters, the ender. Unborn and supremely worthy, of inherent nature, conqueror of foes, delight-giver, blissful, the source and embodiment of joy, upholder of true righteousness, who traversed the three worlds. He is the great sage Kapila, the teacher, the grateful one, lord of the earth, the one with three strides, overseer of the gods, the one with great horns, destroyer of death. He is the great boar, Govinda, the one with a beautiful army, adorned with golden armlets, mysterious and profound, unfathomable and hidden, bearer of the discus and mace. He is the creator, whose limbs are auspicious, unconquered, Krishna, the firm, Sankarshana, the infallible, Varuna, the son of Varuna, the tree, lotus-eyed, and of great mind. He is the blessed one, destroyer of fortune, joyful, wearer of the forest garland, wielder of the plough, son of Aditi, the radiant sun, enduring, and the best among those who move. Thus, in all these forms and names, in every quality and deed, he pervades and upholds the universe, the eternal and supreme Lord.
