ॐ हिरण्यवर्णाम हरिणीं सुवर्णरजतस्रजाम्। चन्द्रां हिरण्मयीं लक्ष्मीं जातवेदो म आवह
Om. O Jātavedas, bring to me Lakshmi—golden-hued, shining like gold, adorned with a garland of gold and silver, radiant as the moon, resplendent with gold.
तां म आवह जातवेदो लक्ष्मीमनपगामिनीम्। यस्यां हिरण्यं विन्देयं गामश्वं पुरुषानहम्
O Jātavedas, bring to me that unfailing Lakshmi, by whose presence I may obtain gold, cattle, horses, and people.
अश्वपूर्वां रथमध्यां हस्तिनादप्रबोधिनीम्। श्रियं देवीमुपह्वये श्रीर्मादेवी जुषताम्
I invoke the goddess Śrī, who is preceded by horses, seated in the center of a chariot, awakened by the trumpeting of elephants; may that goddess Śrī graciously accept me.
कांसोस्मितां हिरण्यप्राकारां आद्रां ज्वलन्तीं तृप्तां तर्पयन्तीम्। पद्मेस्थितां पद्मवर्णां तामिहोपह्वयेश्रियम्
I invoke here that Śrī who is radiant, moist, shining, satisfied and satisfying, surrounded by golden walls, blossoming like a lotus, lotus-hued, and seated upon a lotus.
चन्द्रां प्रभासां यशसा ज्वलन्तीं श्रियंलोके देव जुष्टामुदाराम्। तां पद्मिनीमीं शरणमहं प्रपद्येऽलक्ष्मीर्मे नश्यतां त्वां वृणे
I seek refuge in that radiant, shining, and illustrious Lakshmi, who is adorned by the moon, resplendent with glory, cherished by the gods, and generous in this world; I take shelter in that lotus-bearing goddess—may misfortune be destroyed for me, and I choose you alone.
आदित्यवर्णे तपसोऽधिजातो वनस्पतिस्तववृक्षोथ बिल्व:। तस्य फलानि तपसानुदन्तु मायान्तरायाश्च बाह्या अलक्ष्मी:
O you who are golden like the sun, born of ascetic power, the bilva tree is your sacred tree; may its fruits, through austerity, drive away my inner obstacles and external misfortune.
उपैतु मां देवसख: कीर्तिश्चमणिना सह। प्रादुर्भुतो सुराष्ट्रेऽस्मिन् कीर्तिमृध्दिं ददातु मे
May fame, accompanied by the friend of the gods and adorned with jewels, approach me; having manifested in this noble land, may she grant me renown and prosperity.
क्षुत्पपासामलां जेष्ठां अलक्ष्मीं नाशयाम्यहम्। अभूतिमसमृध्दिं च सर्वानिर्णुद मे गृहात
I banish hunger, thirst, impurity, and the elder goddess of misfortune; drive out from my home all poverty and lack of prosperity.
गन्धद्वारां दुराधर्षां नित्यपुष्टां करीषिणीम्। ईश्वरिं सर्वभूतानां तामिहोपह्वये श्रियम्
I invoke here Sri, who is fragrant, unconquerable, ever-nourishing, bestower of actions, the sovereign of all beings.
मनस: काममाकूतिं वाच: सत्यमशीमहि। पशूनां रूपमन्नस्य मयि श्री: श्रेयतां यश:
May we obtain the desire of the mind, the resolve of the heart, the truth of speech; may the forms of cattle and food, and Sri, bring excellence and fame to me.
कर्दमेनप्रजाभूता मयिसंभवकर्दम। श्रियं वासयमेकुले मातरं पद्ममालिनीम्
O Kardama, from whom progeny arose, O Kardama who abides in me, cause Sri, the mother adorned with lotuses, to dwell in my lineage.
आप स्रजन्तु सिग्धानि चिक्लीत वस मे गृहे। नि च देवीं मातरं श्रियं वासय मे कुले
Let the waters bring forth abundance and moistness; O Ciklita, reside in my house; and you, O goddess mother Sri, dwell in my family.
आर्द्रां पुष्करिणीं पुष्टि पिङ्गलां पद्ममालिनीम्। चन्द्रां हिरण्मयीं लक्ष्मीं जातवेदो म आवह
O Jātavedas, bring to me Lakshmi, who is moist, lotus-bearing, flourishing, tawny, adorned with a garland of lotuses, radiant as the moon, golden, and full of splendor.
आर्द्रां य: करिणीं यष्टीं सुवर्णां हेममालिनीम्। सूर्यां हिरण्मयीं लक्ष्मी जातवेदो म आवह
O Jātavedas, bring to me Lakshmi, who is moist, lotus-holding, slender, golden, adorned with a garland of gold, radiant as the sun, golden, and full of splendor.
तां म आवह जातवेदो लक्ष्मीमनपगामिनीम्। यस्यां हिरण्यं प्रभूतं गावो दास्योश्वान् विन्देयं पुरुषानहम्
Bring to me that Lakshmi, O Jātavedas, who does not depart, through whom I may obtain abundant gold, cattle, servants, horses, and men.
य: शुचि: प्रयतोभूत्वा जुहुयाादाज्यमन्वहम्। सूक्तं पञ्चदशर्च च श्रीकाम: सततं जपेत्
Whoever, being pure and with devoted mind, offers clarified butter daily and recites this hymn of fifteen verses, always desiring prosperity—
पद्मानने पद्मउरू पद्माक्षि पद्मसंभवे। तन्मे भजसि पद्मक्षि येन सौख्यं लभाम्यहम्
O lotus-faced, lotus-thighed, lotus-eyed one, born from the lotus! O lotus-eyed goddess, may you be devoted to me, by whose grace I may obtain happiness.
अश्वदायै गोदायै धनदायै महाधने। धनं मे लभतां देवि सर्वकामांश्च देहि मे
To the giver of horses, giver of cows, bestower of wealth, O greatly prosperous one! May I obtain wealth, O goddess, and grant me all my desires.
पद्मानने पद्मविपत्रे पद्मप्रिये पद्मदलायताक्षि। विश्वप्रिये विष्णुमनोनुकूले त्वत्पादपद्मं मयि संनिधस्त्वं
O lotus-faced, with lotus-like eyes, beloved of the lotus, whose eyes are wide as lotus petals! Beloved of the universe, pleasing to Vishnu’s mind, may your lotus feet be present with me.
पुत्रपौत्रं धनंधान्यं हस्ताश्वादिगवेरथम्। प्रजानां भवसि माता आयुष्मन्तं करोतु मे
Sons, grandsons, wealth, grain, elephants, horses, cattle, and chariots— you are the mother of all beings; may you grant me a long life.
धनमग्निर्धनं वायुर्धनं सूर्योधनं वसु। धनमिन्द्रो बृहस्पतिर्वरूणं धनमस्तु मे
May wealth come to me as fire, may wealth come as wind, may wealth come as the sun, as treasure; may Indra, Brihaspati, and Varuna grant me wealth.
वैनतेय सोमं पिब सोमं पिबतु वृतहा। सोमं धनस्य सोमिनो मह्यं ददातु सोमिन:
O son of Vinata, drink Soma; let the destroyer of foes drink Soma; may the lord of Soma grant me the Soma of wealth.
न क्रोधो न च मात्सर्य न लोभो नाशुभामति:। भवन्ति कृतपुण्यानां भक्तानां श्रीसूक्तं जपेत्
For those devoted ones who have performed good deeds and recite the Śrī Sūkta, there is no anger, no jealousy, no greed, nor any evil intention.
सरसिजनिलये सरोजहस्ते धवलतरांसुकगन्धमाल्यशोभे। भगवति हरिवल्लभे मनोज्ञे त्रिभुवनभूतिकरि प्रसीदमह्यम्
O Goddess, dwelling on the lotus, holding a lotus in hand, adorned with garments whiter than snow, with fragrance and garlands, beloved of Hari, enchanting, bestower of prosperity to the three worlds—be gracious to me.
विष्णुपत्नीं क्षमां देवी माधवी माधवप्रियाम्। लक्ष्मीं प्रियसखीं देवीं नमाम्यच्युतवल्लभाम्
I bow to the goddess, consort of Vishnu, the earth, Mādhavī, beloved of Mādhava, Lakshmi, dear friend of the goddess, beloved of the infallible one.
महालक्ष्मी च विद्महे विष्णुपत्नी च धीमहि। तन्नो लक्ष्मी: प्रचोदयात्
We contemplate Mahālakshmi; we meditate upon the consort of Vishnu; may Lakshmi inspire us.
श्रीवर्चस्वमायुष्यमारोग्यमाविधाच्छोभमानं महीयते। धान्यं धनं पशुं बहुपुत्रलाभं शतसंवत्सरं दीर्घमायु:
May splendor, long life, health, radiant beauty, and greatness be bestowed; may abundant grain, wealth, livestock, many sons, and a long life of a hundred years be granted.
