Salutations to the golden-armed, to the one of golden hue, to the one of golden form, to the lord of gold, to the lord of Ambika, to the lord of Uma, to the lord of all creatures—salutations, again and again. Truth, reality, the supreme Brahman, the cosmic person, dark and tawny—salutations to the one whose seed rises upward, whose eyes are diverse, who has the form of the universe. All is indeed Rudra; to that Rudra, salutations. The person is truly Rudra; to that great one, salutations, again and again. Whatever exists—beings, worlds, the wondrous, born in many ways and being born—indeed, all this is Rudra; to that Rudra, salutations. To the fierce Rudra, the wise, the most gracious, the powerful—may he make our hearts most peaceful. Indeed, all this is Rudra; to that Rudra, salutations. Om, salutations to the blessed Rudra. Om, salutations to you, Rudra, in your wrath and in your arrow. Salutations to your bow and to your two arms. That arrow of yours which is most auspicious, your bow which has become auspicious—by that, Rudra, make us happy. That auspicious form of yours, Rudra, which is terrible and reveals sin—by that peaceful body, O mountain-dweller, look upon us. That arrow which you, O mountain-lord, hold in your hand—make it auspicious, O lord of the mountains; do not harm man or the world. With auspicious words we address you, O mountain-dweller, so that all our world and people may be healthy and well-disposed. The first divine healer, who spoke and declared—he subdued all serpents and all demons. That reddish, tawny, and brown one, most auspicious—those Rudras who are stationed in all directions by the thousands, we ward off their anger. That one who descends, blue-throated, red in color—him the herdsmen see, the women drawing water see, and all beings see; seeing him, may he make us happy. Salutations to the blue-throated, thousand-eyed, gracious one. And to all his beings, I offer salutations. Release the string from your bow, loosen both ends. And those arrows in your hand, O blessed one, cast them away. Lower your bow, thousand-eyed, you who have a hundred quivers. Break the tips of your arrows; be auspicious and kindly disposed to us. Unstring your bow, O Kapardin; let your arrows be without points. Let your arrows not strike us; your quiver be set aside. That weapon of yours, most gracious, which is in your hand, your bow—by that, protect us on all sides from disease. Salutations to your weapon, unstrung, O mighty one. Salutations to both your arms and to your bow. May the weapon of your bow shield us on all sides. And that quiver of yours, place it far from us.

O Lord of the poor, master of nourishment, blue-red in hue, do not harm these men or these cattle; do not strike or injure any of them. O Rudra, your auspicious form, the universal healer, the remedy of Rudra—by that, grant us well-being and life. To Rudra, the powerful, the matted-haired, the destroyer of foes, we offer this prayer; may all in this village, both two-footed and four-footed, be healthy and free from affliction. Be gracious to us, Rudra, bring us happiness; to the destroyer of foes, we bow in reverence. Whatever favor Manu, our father, sought and obtained, may we attain the same under your guidance, O Rudra. Do not harm our elders or our children, neither those who are growing nor those who are grown; do not strike our father or mother, nor any of our dear ones, nor our bodies, O Rudra. Do not harm our offspring, our children, our lifespan, our cows, our horses; do not injure us in these, O Rudra. Do not strike down our brave men, O Rudra, you who are fierce; we, offering oblations, bow to you. Keep far from us the slayer of cattle and the slayer of men; may your favor be upon us, O destroyer of foes. Protect us, O god, and speak for us; grant us your shelter, O twofold protector. Praise the renowned, cave-dwelling, youthful one, terrible as a wild beast, formidable and mighty. Be gracious to the worshipper, O Rudra; may the armies of others be turned away from us. May the missile of Rudra pass us by; may the malice of the fierce one and the evil-minded be far from us. Turn your steady, bountiful form toward us; be gracious to our offspring and children. Most generous, most auspicious, be kindly disposed to us. Having set aside your weapon on the highest tree, clad in hide, come near, bearing your bow. Scattering, red-hued one, our salutations to you, O Lord. May those thousands of your missiles fall away from us. Thousands upon thousands are the missiles in your arms; O Lord, be their master and turn their faces away from us.
