यज्ञहर्ता यज्ञकर्ता यज्ञानां फलदायकः । यज्ञगोप्ता यज्ञमयो दक्षयज्ञविनाशकृत्
He is the taker of sacrifices, the performer of sacrifices, the giver of the fruits of sacrifices; the protector of sacrifices, composed of sacrifice itself, and the destroyer of Daksha's sacrifice.
वक्रतुण्डो महाकायः कोटिसूर्यसमप्रभः । एकदंष्ट्रः कृष्णपिङ्गो विकटो धूम्रवर्णकः
He is the one with a curved trunk, of great body, shining like ten million suns; single-tusked, dark and tawny-eyed, formidable, and of smoky complexion.
टङ्कधारी जम्बुकश्च नायकः शूर्पकर्णकः । सुवर्णगर्भः सुमुखः श्रीकरः सर्वसिद्धिदः
He wields an axe, is like a jackal, is a leader, has winnowing-fan-like ears; golden-wombed, with a beautiful face, bestower of prosperity, and giver of all accomplishments.
सुवर्णवर्णो हेमाङ्गो महात्मा चन्दनच्छविः । स्वङ्गः स्वक्षः ८०० शतानन्दो लोकविल्लोकविग्रहः
He is golden in complexion, with limbs like gold, of great soul, with the radiance of sandalwood; his own limbs, his own eyes, ever blissful, the embodiment of all worlds and their perceptions.
इन्द्रो जिष्णुर्धूमकेतुर्वह्निः पूज्यो दवान्तकः । पूर्णानन्दः परानन्दः पुराणपुरुषोत्तमः
He is Indra, the victorious one, the smoke-bannered, fire, worthy of worship, the destroyer of forest fires; complete bliss, supreme bliss, the ancient supreme person.
कुम्भभृत् कलशी कुब्जो मीनमांससुतर्पितः । राशिताराग्रहमयस्तिथिरूपो जगद्विभुः
He holds a pot, is associated with a pitcher, is hunchbacked, satisfied by offerings of fish and meat; composed of constellations, stars, and planets, assuming the form of time, the lord of the universe.
प्रतापी प्रतिपत्प्रेयान् द्वितीयोऽद्वैतनिश्चितः । त्रिरूपश्च तृतीयाग्निस्त्रयीरूपस्त्रयीतनुः
He is powerful, beloved at the beginning of the lunar fortnight, the second, established in non-duality; of three forms, the third fire, of triple form, of triple nature.
चतुर्थीवल्लभो देवो पारगः पञ्चमीरवः । षड्रसास्वादकोऽजातः षष्ठी षष्टिकवत्सरः
The god who is beloved on the fourth day, who is the one who leads across, whose voice is heard on the fifth day, who enjoys the six tastes, who is unborn, who is the sixth, and who is the year of sixty.
सप्तार्णवगतिः सारः सप्तमीश्वर ईहितः । अष्टमीनन्दनोऽनार्तो नवमीभक्तिभावितः
He whose movement is through the seven streams, who is the essence, the lord of the seventh day, who is desired, who brings joy on the eighth day, who is free from pain, and who is honored by devotion on the ninth day.
दशदिक्पतिपूज्यश्च दशमी द्रुहिणो द्रुतः । एकादशात्मा गणपो द्वादशीयुगचर्चितः
He who is worshipped by the lords of the ten directions, who is the tenth, who is Brahma, who is swift, who is the soul of the eleven, who is the leader of the hosts, and who is revered in the twelve pairs.
त्रयोदशमनुस्तुत्यश्चतुर्दशसुरप्रियः । चतुर्दशेन्द्रसंस्तुत्यः पूर्णिमानन्दविग्रहः
He who is praised in the thirteen syllables, who is dear to the gods of the fourteen worlds, who is extolled by the fourteen Indras, and whose form is full of bliss on the full moon day.
दर्शादर्शो दर्शनश्च वानप्रस्थो मुनीश्वरः । मौनी मधुरवाङ्मूलं मूर्तिमान् मेघवाहनः
He is the new moon and the full moon, the vision and the seer, the forest-dweller, the lord of sages, silent, whose speech is sweet, the root of all words, embodied, and whose vehicle is the cloud.
महागजो जितक्रोधो जितशत्रुर्जयाश्रयः । रौद्रो रुद्रप्रियो रुक्मो रुद्रपुत्रोऽघतापनः
He is the great elephant, conqueror of anger, conqueror of enemies, the refuge of victory, fierce, dear to Rudra, golden, son of Rudra, and destroyer of evil.
भवप्रियो भवानीष्टो भारभृद्भूतभावनः । गान्धर्वकुशलोऽकुण्ठो वैकुण्ठो विष्णुसेवितः
He is dear to Bhava, beloved of Bhavānī, bearer of burdens, creator of beings, skilled in Gandharva arts, unimpeded, Vaikuṇṭha, and served by Viṣṇu.
वृत्रहा विघ्नहा सीरः समस्तदुरितापहः । मञ्जुलो मार्जनो मत्तो दुर्गापुत्रो दुरालसः
He is slayer of Vṛtra, remover of obstacles, strong, destroyer of all misfortune, charming, purifier, intoxicated, son of Durgā, and never indolent.
अनन्तचित्सुधाधारो वीरो वीर्यैकसाधकः । भास्वन्मुकुटमाणिक्यः कूजत्किङ्किणिजालकः
He is the endless stream of nectar-like consciousness, the hero, the sole accomplisher of valor; his radiant crown is adorned with jewels, and he is encircled by the tinkling of little bells.
शुण्डाधारी तुण्डचलः कुण्डली मुण्डमालकः । पद्माक्षः पद्महस्तश्च ९०० पद्मनाभसमर्चितः
He bears a trunk, his snout moves, he is coiled, adorned with a garland of skulls; his eyes are like lotuses, he holds a lotus in his hand, and he is worshipped by Padmanabha.
उद्गीथो नरदन्ताढ्यमालाभूषणभूषितः । नारदो वारणो लोलश्रवणः शूर्पकश्रवाः
He is praised in hymns, adorned with a garland of human teeth, decorated with ornaments; he is Narada, the elephantine one, with restless ears, and ears like winnowing baskets.
बृहदुल्लासनासाढ्यव्याप्तत्रैलोक्यमण्डलः । इलामण्डलसम्भ्रान्तकृतानुग्रहजीवकः
He is attainable by those seated in great delight, pervading the three worlds; he is the life-giver who bestows grace upon those bewildered in the realm of the earth.
बृहत्कर्णाञ्चलोद्भूतवायुवीजितदिक्तटः । बृहदास्यरवाक्रान्तभीमब्रह्माण्डभाण्डकः
He whose mighty ear-ends generate winds that conquer all directions; whose great roar from his mouth overwhelms the terrifying shell of the universe.
बृहत्पादसमाक्रान्तसप्तपातालवेपितः । बृहद्दन्तकृतात्युग्ररणानन्दरसालसः
He whose vast feet stride across the seven netherworlds, causing them to tremble; who delights fiercely in battle, his great tusks exuding the essence of joy in combat.
बृहद्धस्तधृताशेषायुधनिर्जितदानवः । स्फुरत्सिन्दूरवदनः स्फुरत्तेजोऽग्निलोचनः
He who, with his mighty hands, wields all weapons and subdues the demons; whose face shines with vermilion, whose eyes blaze with fiery brilliance.
उद्दीपितमणिस्फूर्जन्नूपुरध्वनिनादितः । चलत्तोयप्रवाहाढ्यनदीजलकणाकुलः
He who is resounding with the jingling of anklets adorned with radiant jewels; who is surrounded by rivers filled with swiftly moving streams and countless droplets of water.
भ्रमत्कुञ्जरसङ्घातवन्दिताङ्घ्रिसरोरुहः । ब्रह्माच्युतमहारुद्रपुरःसरसुरार्चितः
His lotus feet are worshipped by hosts of wandering elephants; he is revered by Brahma, Achyuta, and the great Rudra, with the foremost of the gods.
अशेषशेषप्रभृतिव्यालजालोपसेवितः । गूर्जत्पञ्चाननारावप्राप्ताकाशधरातलः
He is attended by all kinds of serpents, including the mighty Shesha; the roar of five-faced lions reaches the very peaks of the mountains.
हाहाहूहूकृतात्युग्रसुरविभ्रान्तमानसः । पञ्चाशद्वर्णबीजाढ्यमन्त्रमन्त्रितविग्रहः
His mind is bewildered by the fierce cries of the gods, 'Ha Ha' and 'Hū Hū'; his form is empowered by the fifty seed-syllables and mantras.
वेदान्तशास्त्रपीयूषधाराप्लावितभूतलः । शङ्खध्वनिसमाक्रान्तपातालादिनभस्तलः
The earth is flooded by the nectar-stream of Vedanta’s teachings; the sound of the conch fills the realms from the netherworld up to the heavens.
चिन्तामणिर्महामल्लो भल्लहस्तो बलिः कलिः । कृतत्रेतायुगोल्लासभासमानजगत्त्रयः
He is the wish-fulfilling gem, the great wrestler, holding a strong spear in his hand, powerful and victorious; he shines forth in the three worlds, illuminating them in the glory of the Krita and Treta ages.
द्वापरः परलोकैककर्मध्वान्तसुधाकरः । सुधासिक्तवपुर्व्याप्तब्रह्माण्डादिकटाहकः
He is Dvapara, the sole lord of the other world, the moonlight that dispels the darkness of karma; his form is anointed with nectar, pervading the cosmic egg and all within it.
अकारादिक्षकारान्तवर्णपङ्क्तिसमुज्ज्वलः । अकाराकारप्रोद्गीततारनादनिनादितः
He is radiant with the series of letters from 'A' to 'Kṣa'; he resounds with the musical tones sung from 'A' and 'Ā', echoing with the sound of the highest note.
