ताम्रसिन्दूरपुञ्जाढ्यललाटफलकच्छविः । थकारधनपङ्क्त्याढ्यसन्तोषितद्विजव्रजः
His forehead shines with the glow of a mass of coppery vermilion; he delights the assembly of twice-born by the wealth of the syllable 'tha'.
दयामयहृदम्भोजधृतत्रैलोक्यमण्डलः । धनदादिमहायक्षसंसेवितपदाम्बुजः
He upholds the three worlds within the lotus of his compassionate heart; his lotus feet are served by great yakṣas such as Kubera.
नमिताशेषदेवौघकिरीटमणिरञ्जितः । परवर्गापवर्गादिमार्गच्छेदनदक्षकः
He is adorned by the jewels of the crowns of all the gods who bow before him; he is skilled in cutting off the paths leading to lower and higher realms.
फणिचक्रसमाक्रान्तगलमण्डलमण्डितः । बद्धभ्रूयुगभीमोग्रसन्तर्जितसुरासुरः
Adorned with a garland encircling his neck, resembling the hoods of serpents; with fierce, knitted brows, he terrifies both gods and demons.
भवानीहृदयानन्दवर्धनैकनिशाकरः । मदिराकलशस्फीतकरालैककराम्बुजः
He is the sole moon who increases the joy in the heart of Bhavani; his single lotus hand is swollen as if holding a vessel of wine.
यज्ञान्तरायसङ्घातघातसज्जीकृतायुधः । रत्नाकरसुताकान्तकान्तिकीर्तिविवर्धनः
He is armed and ready to destroy the hosts of obstacles to sacrifice; he increases the radiance and fame of the beloved of the daughter of the ocean.
लम्बोदरमहाभीमवपुर्दीनीकृतासुरः । वरुणादिदिगीशानरचितार्चनचर्चितः
With a great and formidable body and a large belly, he humbles the demons; he is worshipped with offerings by Varuna and the other lords of the directions.
शङ्करैकप्रियप्रेमनयनानन्दवर्धनः । षोडशस्वरितालापगीतगानविचक्षणः
He whose loving gaze brings joy to Śaṅkara alone; who is skilled in singing melodious songs set to the sixteen svaras and tālas.
समस्तदुर्गतिसरिन्नाथोत्तारणकोडुपः । हरादिब्रह्मवैकुण्ठब्रह्मगीतादिपाठकः
He who is the mighty boat rescuing all from the river of misfortune; who recites the hymns of Brahma, Vaikuṇṭha, and others, beginning with Hara.
क्षमापूरितहृत्पद्मसंरक्षितचराचरः । ताराङ्कमन्त्रवर्णैकविग्रहोज्ज्वलविग्रहः
He whose heart-lotus is filled with forgiveness, who protects all moving and unmoving beings; whose radiant form is comprised solely of the syllables of the Tārā mantra.
अकारादिक्षकारान्तविद्याभूषितविग्रहः । ॐ श्रीं विनायको ॐ ह्रीं विघ्नाध्यक्षो गणाधिपः
He whose form is adorned with knowledge from the syllable 'a' to 'kṣa'; Om Śrīṃ Vināyaka, Om Hrīṃ Chief of Obstacles, Lord of the Gaṇas.
हेरम्बो मोदकाहारो वक्त्रतुण्डो विधिस्मृतः । वेदान्तगीतो विद्यार्थी शुद्धमन्त्रः षडक्षरः
He is Heramba, the enjoyer of modaka sweets, with a curved trunk, known in the scriptures as Vidhismrita; he is praised in the Vedanta, a seeker of knowledge, pure in mantra, and the six-syllabled one.
गणेशो वरदो देवो द्वादशाक्षरमन्त्रितः । सप्तकोटिमहामन्त्रमन्त्रिताशेषविग्रहः
He is Ganesha, the bestower of boons, the divine one empowered by the twelve-syllabled mantra; his entire form is infused with the great mantra of seventy million mantras.
गाङ्गेयो गणसेव्यश्च ॐ श्रीं द्वैमातुरः शिवः । ॐ ह्रीं श्रीं क्लीं ग्लौं गं देवो महागणपतिः प्रभुः १०००
He is the son of Ganga, worshipped by the hosts of ganas; Om, Shrim, Dvaimatura, Shiva; Om, Hrim, Shrim, Klim, Glaum, Gam—the god, the great Ganapati, the Lord.
सहस्रनाममाहात्म्यम् \- इदं नाम्नां सहस्रं ते महागणपतेः स्मृतम् । गुह्यं गोप्यतमं गुप्तं सर्वतन्त्रेषु गोपितम्
The greatness of the thousand names—this thousand of names of yours, O Mahaganapati, is remembered; it is secret, most confidential, hidden, and guarded in all the tantras.
सर्वमन्त्रनिधिं दिव्यं सर्वविघ्नविनाशनम् । ग्रहतारामयं राशिवर्णपङ्क्तिसमन्वितम्
The divine treasury of all mantras, destroyer of all obstacles, composed of the influences of planets and stars, adorned with the sequence of zodiacal signs and their colors.
सर्वविद्यामयं ब्रह्मसाधनं साधकप्रियम् । गणेशस्य च सर्वस्वं रहस्यं त्रिदिवौकसाम्
Consisting of all knowledge, the means for realizing Brahman, beloved of practitioners, the entire essence of Ganesha, the secret of the dwellers of heaven.
यथेष्टफलदं लोके मनोरथप्रपूरणम् । अष्टसिद्धिमयं साध्यं साधकानां जयप्रदम्
That which grants desired fruits in the world, fulfills wishes, is endowed with the eight perfections, attainable, and bestows victory upon practitioners.
विनार्चनं विना होमं विना न्यासं विना जपम् । अणिमाद्यष्टसिद्धीनां साधनं स्मृतिमात्रतः
Without worship, without oblation, without ritual gestures, without recitation—merely by remembering, it accomplishes the eight perfections beginning with aṇimā.
चतुर्थ्यामर्धरात्रे तु पठेन्मन्त्री चतुष्पथे । लिखेद्भूर्जे रवौ देवि पुण्यं नाम्नां सहस्रकम्
On the fourth lunar day, at midnight, the practitioner should recite at a crossroads; O Goddess, he should write the thousand auspicious names on birch bark in sunlight.
धारयेत्तु चतुर्दश्यां मध्याह्ने मूर्ध्नि वा भुजे । योषिद्वामकरे बद्ध्वा पुरुषो दक्षिणे भुजे
He should wear it on the fourteenth lunar day, at midday, either on his head or arm; a woman should tie it on her left arm, a man on his right arm.
स्तम्भयेदपि ब्रह्माणं मोहयेदपि शङ्करम् । वशयेदपि त्रैलोक्यं मारयेदखिलान् रिपून्
He can immobilize even Brahma, delude even Shiva, subjugate the three worlds, and destroy all enemies.
उच्चाटयेच्च गीर्वाणान् शमयेच्च धनञ्जयम् । वन्ध्या पुत्रांल्लभेच्छीघ्रं निर्धनो धनमाप्नुयात्
He can drive away the gods, subdue Dhananjaya; a barren woman quickly obtains sons, and a poor man acquires wealth.
त्रिवारं यः पठेद्रात्रौ गणेशस्य पुरः शिवे । नग्नः शक्तियुतो देवि भुक्त्वा भोगान् यथेप्सितान्
Whoever recites this three times at night before Ganesha and Shiva, naked and united with Shakti, O Goddess, after enjoying pleasures as desired,
प्रत्यक्षं वरदं पश्येद्गणेशं साधकोत्तमः । य एनं पठते नाम्नां सहस्रं भक्तिपूर्वकम्
The foremost practitioner who recites this thousand names of Ganesha with devotion will see Ganesha himself, the bestower of boons, directly.
तस्य वित्तादिविभवो दारायुस्सम्पदः सदा । रणे राजभये द्यूते पठेन्नाम्नां सहस्रकम्
For him, wealth and other prosperity, wife, lifespan, and riches will always be present; in battle, in fear of kings, or in gambling, let him recite the thousand names.
सर्वत्र जयमाप्नोति गणेशस्य प्रसादतः । इतीदं पुण्यसर्वस्वं मन्त्रनामसहस्रकम्
By the grace of Ganesha, he attains victory everywhere; thus, this thousand-name mantra is the entirety of merit.
