बृहत्पादसमाक्रान्तसप्तपातालवेपितः । बृहद्दन्तकृतात्युग्ररणानन्दरसालसः
He whose vast feet stride across the seven netherworlds, causing them to tremble; who delights fiercely in battle, his great tusks exuding the essence of joy in combat.
बृहद्धस्तधृताशेषायुधनिर्जितदानवः । स्फुरत्सिन्दूरवदनः स्फुरत्तेजोऽग्निलोचनः
He who, with his mighty hands, wields all weapons and subdues the demons; whose face shines with vermilion, whose eyes blaze with fiery brilliance.
उद्दीपितमणिस्फूर्जन्नूपुरध्वनिनादितः । चलत्तोयप्रवाहाढ्यनदीजलकणाकुलः
He who is resounding with the jingling of anklets adorned with radiant jewels; who is surrounded by rivers filled with swiftly moving streams and countless droplets of water.
भ्रमत्कुञ्जरसङ्घातवन्दिताङ्घ्रिसरोरुहः । ब्रह्माच्युतमहारुद्रपुरःसरसुरार्चितः
His lotus feet are worshipped by hosts of wandering elephants; he is revered by Brahma, Achyuta, and the great Rudra, with the foremost of the gods.
अशेषशेषप्रभृतिव्यालजालोपसेवितः । गूर्जत्पञ्चाननारावप्राप्ताकाशधरातलः
He is attended by all kinds of serpents, including the mighty Shesha; the roar of five-faced lions reaches the very peaks of the mountains.
हाहाहूहूकृतात्युग्रसुरविभ्रान्तमानसः । पञ्चाशद्वर्णबीजाढ्यमन्त्रमन्त्रितविग्रहः
His mind is bewildered by the fierce cries of the gods, 'Ha Ha' and 'Hū Hū'; his form is empowered by the fifty seed-syllables and mantras.
वेदान्तशास्त्रपीयूषधाराप्लावितभूतलः । शङ्खध्वनिसमाक्रान्तपातालादिनभस्तलः
The earth is flooded by the nectar-stream of Vedanta’s teachings; the sound of the conch fills the realms from the netherworld up to the heavens.
चिन्तामणिर्महामल्लो भल्लहस्तो बलिः कलिः । कृतत्रेतायुगोल्लासभासमानजगत्त्रयः
He is the wish-fulfilling gem, the great wrestler, holding a strong spear in his hand, powerful and victorious; he shines forth in the three worlds, illuminating them in the glory of the Krita and Treta ages.
द्वापरः परलोकैककर्मध्वान्तसुधाकरः । सुधासिक्तवपुर्व्याप्तब्रह्माण्डादिकटाहकः
He is Dvapara, the sole lord of the other world, the moonlight that dispels the darkness of karma; his form is anointed with nectar, pervading the cosmic egg and all within it.
अकारादिक्षकारान्तवर्णपङ्क्तिसमुज्ज्वलः । अकाराकारप्रोद्गीततारनादनिनादितः
He is radiant with the series of letters from 'A' to 'Kṣa'; he resounds with the musical tones sung from 'A' and 'Ā', echoing with the sound of the highest note.
इकारेकारमन्त्राढ्यमालाभ्रमणलालसः । उकारोकारप्रोद्गारिघोरनागोपवीतकः
He delights in the garland of mantras beginning with 'I' and 'E', joyfully whirling them; he is adorned with the dread serpent as a sacred thread, emerging from the utterance of 'U' and 'O'.
ऋवर्णाङ्कितॠकारपद्मद्वयसमुज्ज्वलः । लृकारयुतलॄकारशङ्खपूर्णदिगन्तरः
He is adorned with the syllable 'ṛ', radiant with the pair of lotus-like 'ṝ' syllables; he is united with the 'lṛ' syllable, and fills all directions with the conch-like sound of 'lṝ'.
एकारैकारगिरिजास्तनपानविचक्षणः । ओकारौकारविश्वादिकृतसृष्टिक्रमालसः
He is skilled in drinking the milk from Girijā's breast, which is symbolized by the letters 'e' and 'ai'; he is leisurely in the sequence of creation that begins with the universal syllables 'o' and 'au'.
अंअःवर्णावलीव्याप्तपादादिशीर्षमण्डलः । कर्णतालकृतात्युच्चैर्वायुवीजितनिर्जरः
His head and limbs are pervaded by the series of syllables from 'aṃ' to 'aḥ'; he surpasses the celestials, as his ears and palate are filled with the exceedingly powerful wind.
खगेशध्वजरत्नाङ्ककिरीटारुणपादकः । गर्विताशेषगन्धर्वगीततत्परश्रोत्रकः
He has reddish feet, a crown adorned with gems, and the banner of the lord of birds; his ears are ever intent on the songs sung by all the proud Gandharvas.
घनवाहनवागीशपुरःसरसुरार्चितः । ङवर्णामृतधाराढ्यशोभमानैकदन्तकः
He is worshipped by the foremost of gods and sages in the city of eloquence, borne by a mighty cloud; he is the radiant One-tusked Lord, resplendent with the nectar-stream of the syllable 'ṅa'.
चन्द्रकुङ्कुमजम्बाललिप्तसुन्दरविग्रहः । छत्रचामररत्नाढ्यमुकुटालङ्कृताननः
His beautiful form is adorned with sandalwood, saffron, and the red of the jambāla fruit; his face is decorated with a jeweled crown, and he is attended by a royal umbrella and fly-whisks.
जटाबद्धमहानर्घमणिपङ्क्तिविराजितः । झाङ्कारिमधुपव्रातगाननादनिनादितः
His matted locks are set with rows of priceless gems; he is surrounded by the humming sound of swarms of bees, echoing with their melodious song.
ञवर्णकृतसंहारदैत्यासृक्पूर्णमुद्गरः । टङ्कारुकफलास्वादवेपिताशेषमूर्धजः
He wields a mace drenched in the blood of demons destroyed by the power of the syllable 'ña'; at the taste of the fruit of the syllable 'ṭaṅ', all his hair stands on end.
ठकाराढ्यडकाराङ्कढकारानन्दतोषितः । णवर्णामृतपीयूषधाराधरसुधाधरः
He is pleased by the syllables ṭha, ḍha, ḍa, and ḍha; he is the nectar-bearing support of the stream of immortal essence from the nine sacred letters.
ताम्रसिन्दूरपुञ्जाढ्यललाटफलकच्छविः । थकारधनपङ्क्त्याढ्यसन्तोषितद्विजव्रजः
His forehead shines with the glow of a mass of coppery vermilion; he delights the assembly of twice-born by the wealth of the syllable 'tha'.
दयामयहृदम्भोजधृतत्रैलोक्यमण्डलः । धनदादिमहायक्षसंसेवितपदाम्बुजः
He upholds the three worlds within the lotus of his compassionate heart; his lotus feet are served by great yakṣas such as Kubera.
नमिताशेषदेवौघकिरीटमणिरञ्जितः । परवर्गापवर्गादिमार्गच्छेदनदक्षकः
He is adorned by the jewels of the crowns of all the gods who bow before him; he is skilled in cutting off the paths leading to lower and higher realms.
फणिचक्रसमाक्रान्तगलमण्डलमण्डितः । बद्धभ्रूयुगभीमोग्रसन्तर्जितसुरासुरः
Adorned with a garland encircling his neck, resembling the hoods of serpents; with fierce, knitted brows, he terrifies both gods and demons.
भवानीहृदयानन्दवर्धनैकनिशाकरः । मदिराकलशस्फीतकरालैककराम्बुजः
He is the sole moon who increases the joy in the heart of Bhavani; his single lotus hand is swollen as if holding a vessel of wine.
यज्ञान्तरायसङ्घातघातसज्जीकृतायुधः । रत्नाकरसुताकान्तकान्तिकीर्तिविवर्धनः
He is armed and ready to destroy the hosts of obstacles to sacrifice; he increases the radiance and fame of the beloved of the daughter of the ocean.
लम्बोदरमहाभीमवपुर्दीनीकृतासुरः । वरुणादिदिगीशानरचितार्चनचर्चितः
With a great and formidable body and a large belly, he humbles the demons; he is worshipped with offerings by Varuna and the other lords of the directions.
शङ्करैकप्रियप्रेमनयनानन्दवर्धनः । षोडशस्वरितालापगीतगानविचक्षणः
He whose loving gaze brings joy to Śaṅkara alone; who is skilled in singing melodious songs set to the sixteen svaras and tālas.
समस्तदुर्गतिसरिन्नाथोत्तारणकोडुपः । हरादिब्रह्मवैकुण्ठब्रह्मगीतादिपाठकः
He who is the mighty boat rescuing all from the river of misfortune; who recites the hymns of Brahma, Vaikuṇṭha, and others, beginning with Hara.
क्षमापूरितहृत्पद्मसंरक्षितचराचरः । ताराङ्कमन्त्रवर्णैकविग्रहोज्ज्वलविग्रहः
He whose heart-lotus is filled with forgiveness, who protects all moving and unmoving beings; whose radiant form is comprised solely of the syllables of the Tārā mantra.
