यद् आकूतात् समसुस्रोद् हृदो वा मनसो वा सम्भृतं चक्षुषो वा । तद् अनु प्रेत सुकृताम् उ लोकं यत्र ऽ ऋषयो जग्मुः प्रथमजाः पुराणाः
Whatever is gathered from intention, from the heart, from the mind, or from the eye—after that, proceed to the world of the virtuous, where the ancient, first-born sages have gone.
एतꣳ सधस्थ परि ते ददामि यम् आवहाच् शेवधिं जातवेदाः । अन्वागन्ता यज्ञपतिर् वो ऽ अत्र तꣳ स्म जानीत परमे व्योमन्
I place this seat for you, which the knower of births brings as a treasure; the lord of sacrifice will follow you here—know him in the highest heaven.
एतं जानाथ परमे व्योमन् देवाः सधस्था विद रूपम् अस्य । यद् आगच्छात् पथिभिर् देवयानैर् इष्टापूर्ते कृणवाथाविर् अस्मै
Know him in the highest heaven, O gods, the seat, recognize his form; when he comes by the paths of the gods, may you perform the desired and the fulfilled for him.
उद् बुध्यस्वाग्ने प्रति जागृहि त्वम् इष्टापूर्ते सꣳ सृजेथाम् अयं च । अस्मिन्त् सधस्थे ऽ अध्य् उत्तरस्मिन् विश्वे देवा यजमानाश् च सीदत
Awaken, O Agni, rise up; let the desired and fulfilled be released, and this one too; in this seat, in the higher one, let all the gods and sacrificers sit.
येन वहसि सहस्रं येनाग्ने सर्ववेदसम् । तेनेमं यज्ञं नो नय स्वर् देवेषु गन्तवे ॥ 18. 63 प्रस्तरेण परिधिना स्रुचा वेद्या च बर्हिषा । ऋचेमं यज्ञं नो नय स्वर् देवेषु गन्तवे
By whom you bear a thousand, by whom, O Agni, all the knowledge of the Vedas; by that one, lead this sacrifice of ours to heaven, to be received among the gods.
यद् दत्तं यत् परादानं यत् पूर्तं याश् च दक्षिणाः । तद् अग्निर् वैश्वकर्मणः स्वर् देवेषु नो दधत्
Whatever is given, whatever is returned, whatever is constructed, and whatever gifts are offered—may Agni, the universal worker, carry all this of ours to heaven, to be received among the gods.
यत्र धारा ऽ अनपेता मधोर् घृतस्य च याः । तद् अग्निर् वैश्वकर्मणः स्वर् देवेषु नो दधत्
Where the streams of honey and clarified butter flow unceasingly—may Agni, the universal worker, carry us there to heaven, to be received among the gods.
अग्निर् अस्मि जन्मना जातवेदा घृतं मे चक्षुर् अमृतं म ऽ आसन् । अर्कस् त्रिधातू रजसो विमानो ऽजस्रो घर्मो हविर् अस्मि नाम
I am Agni by birth, the Knower of all births; clarified butter is my sight, immortality is my food; I am the sun, the threefold support, the vehicle of the atmosphere; I am the inexhaustible heat, I am the offering, this is my name.
ऋचो नामास्मि यजूꣳषि नामास्मि सामानि नामास्मि । ये ऽ अग्नयः प्राञ्चजन्या ऽ अस्यां पृथिव्याम् अधि । तेषाम् असि त्वम् उत्तमः प्र नो जीवतवे सुव
I am called the Ṛc verses, I am called the Yajus formulas, I am called the Sāman chants; among all the fires born facing east on this earth, you are the highest among them—grant us the good for living.
वार्त्रहत्याय शवसे पृतनाषाह्याय च । इन्द्र त्वा वर्तयामसि
For the slaying of obstacles, for overcoming enemies in battle, O Indra, we set you in motion.
सहदानुं पुरुहूत क्षियन्तम् अहस्तम् इन्द्र सं पिणक् कुणारुम् । अभि वृत्रं वर्धमानं पियारुम् अपादम् इन्द्र तवसा जघन्थ
O much-invoked Indra, you struck down the powerful, the enduring, the handless one, and crushed the cunning one; you, with your strength, slew the growing Vṛtra, the hostile, the footless one.
वि न ऽ इन्द्र मृधो जहि नीचा यच्छ पृतन्यतः । यो ऽ अस्माꣳऽ अभिदासत्य् अधरं गमया तमः
O Indra, strike down our foes, subdue those who contend against us; whoever attacks us, cast him down, send him to the lower darkness.
मृगो न भीमः कुचरो गिरिष्ठाः परावत ऽ आ जगन्था परस्याः । सृकꣳ सꣳशाय पविम् इन्द्र तिग्मं वि शत्रून् ताढि वि मृधो नुदस्व
Like a fearsome beast roaming the mountains, you have destroyed those far away, those of the other side; draw your sharp-edged arrow, O Indra, strike down the enemies, scatter the foes.
वैश्वानरो न ऽ ऊतय ऽ आ प्र यातु परावतः । अग्निर् नः सुष्टुतीर् उप
Like Vaiśvānara, let your aid come forth from afar; O Agni, accept our well-praised offerings.
पृष्टो दिवि पृष्टो ऽ अग्निः पृथिव्यां पृष्टो विश्वा ऽ ओषधीर् आ विवेश । वैश्वानरः सहसा पृष्टो ऽ अग्निः स नो दिवा स रिषस् पातु नक्तम्
Established in heaven, established on earth, Agni has entered all the plants; Vaiśvānara, established by force, Agni—may he protect us from harm by day and by night.
अश्याम तं कामम् अग्ने तवोती ऽ अश्याम रयिꣳ रयिवः सुवीरम् । अश्याम वाजम् अभि वाजयन्तो ऽश्याम द्युम्नम् अजराजरं ते
May we attain that desire, O Agni, by your help; may we attain wealth, abundant riches, and heroic strength; may we attain prize after prize, may we attain your unfailing glory.
वयं ते ऽ अद्य ररिमा हि कामम् उत्तानहस्ता नमसोपसद्य । यजिष्ठेन मनसा यक्षि देवान् अस्रेधता मन्मना विप्रो ऽ अग्ने
Today we have fulfilled your desire, with upraised hands, approaching with reverence; with the most worshipful mind, offer to the gods, O Agni, with unwavering thought, O inspired one.
धामच्छद् अग्निर् इन्द्रो ब्रह्मा देवो बृहस्पतिः । सचेतसो विश्वे देवा यज्ञं प्रावन्तु नः शुभे
Agni, Indra, Brahman, god Bṛhaspati, all the mindful gods—may they protect our sacrifice, may they grant us auspiciousness.
त्वं यविष्ठ दाशुषो नॄँः पाहि शृणुधी गिरः । रक्षा तोकम् उत त्मना
You, youngest one, protect the worshippers, listen to our songs; guard our offspring and ourselves.
स्वाद्वीं त्वा स्वादुना तीव्रां तीव्रेणामृताम् अमृतेन । मधुमतीं मधुमता सृजामि सꣳ सोमेन । सोमोऽसि । अश्विभ्यां पच्यस्व । सरस्वत्यै पच्यस्व । इन्द्राय सुत्राम्णे पच्यस्व
I release you, sweet with sweetness, strong with strength, immortal with immortality, honeyed with honey, together with Soma; you are Soma; cook for the Aśvins, cook for Sarasvatī, cook for Indra the mighty.
परीतो षिञ्चता सुतꣳ सोमो य ऽ उत्तमꣳ हविः । दधन्वान् यो नर्यो अप्स्व् अन्तर् आ सुषाव सोमम् अद्रिभिः
Pour around the pressed Soma, which is the highest offering; the noble one who flows in the waters, he has pressed out Soma with the stones.
वायोः पूतः पवित्रेण प्रत्यङ्क् सोमो ऽ अतिद्रुतः । इन्द्रस्य युज्यः सखा । वायोः पूतः पवित्रेण प्राङ् सोमो ऽ अतिद्रुतः । इन्द्रस्य युज्यः सखा
Purified by Vāyu's strainer, Soma flows swiftly westward, a fitting friend of Indra; purified by Vāyu's strainer, Soma flows swiftly eastward, a fitting friend of Indra.
पुनाति ते परिस्रुतꣳ सोमꣳ सूर्यस्य दुहिता । वारेण शश्वता तना
The daughter of the sun purifies for you the flowing Soma, with her perpetual stream.
ब्रह्म क्षत्रं पवते तेज ऽ इन्द्रियꣳ सुरया सोमः सुत ऽ आसुतो मदाय । शुक्रेण देव देवताः पिपृग्धि रसेनान्नं यजमानाय धेहि
Brahman and Kshatra are purified for you; Soma, pressed and prepared, with strength and power, for intoxication; with its brightness, nourish the gods, O deity, with its essence place food for the sacrificer.
कुविद् अङ्ग यवमन्तो यवं चिद् यथा दान्त्य् अनुपूर्वं वियूय । इहेहैषां कृणुहि भोजनानि ये बर्हिषो नम ऽ उक्तिं यजन्ति । उपयामगृहीतो ऽस्य् अश्विभ्यां त्वा सरस्वत्यै त्वेन्द्राय त्वा सुत्राम्णे । ऽ एष ते योनिस् तेजसे त्वा वीर्याय त्वा बलाय त्वा
Perhaps, indeed, those who possess barley, even barley itself, as it is given, is distributed in order; here, prepare their food, those who worship the sacred grass with reverent speech; received for you by the Ashvins, by Sarasvati, by Indra, by Sutraman; this is your source—for brilliance, for heroism, for strength.
उपयामगृहीतो ऽस्य् आश्विनं तेजः सारस्वतं वीर्यम् ऐन्द्रं बलम् । एष ते योनिर् मोदाय त्वानन्दाय त्वा महसे त्वा
Received for you is the Ashvin's brilliance, Sarasvati's heroism, Indra's strength; this is your source—for joy, for delight, for greatness.
तेजो ऽसि तेजो मयि धेहि । वीर्यम् असि वीर्यं मयि धेहि । बलम् असि बलं मयि धेहि । ओजो ऽस्य् ओजो मयि धेहि । मन्युर् असि मन्युं मयि धेहि । सहो ऽसि सहो मयि धेहि
You are brilliance, place brilliance in me; you are heroism, place heroism in me; you are strength, place strength in me; you are vigor, place vigor in me; you are resolve, place resolve in me; you are might, place might in me.
या व्याघ्रं विषूचिकोभौ वृकं च रक्षति । श्येनं पतत्रिणꣳ सिꣳहꣳ सेमं पात्व् अꣳहसः
She who protects the tiger, the wolf, and the vulture, the eagle, the lion—may she protect us from harm.
यद् आपिपेष मातरं पुत्रः प्रमुदितो धयन् । एतत् तद् अग्ने ऽ अनृणो भवाम्य् अहतौ पितरौ मया । सम्पृच स्थ सं मा भद्रेण पृङ्क्त । विपृच स्थ वि मा पाप्मना पृङ्क्त
As the joyful son nourishes his mother, so, O Agni, may I be free from debt to my parents; unite with me, fill me with goodness; separate from me, remove evil from me.
देवा यज्ञम् अतन्वत भेषजं भिषजाश्विना । वाचा सरस्वती भिषग् इन्द्रायेन्द्रियाणि दधतः
The gods performed the sacrifice; the Ashvins are the healers; Sarasvati heals with speech; Indra and the Ashvins grant strength.
