अग्ने तम् अद्याश्वं न स्तोमैः क्रतुं न भद्रꣳ हृदिस्पृशम् । ऋध्यामा त ऽ ओहैः
Agni, today may we attain with our hymns that swift horse, that wise and auspicious power which touches the heart, by your help.
चित्तिं जुहोमि मनसा घृतेन यथा देवा ऽ इहागमन् वीतिहोत्रा ऽ ऋतावृधः । पत्ये विश्वस्य भूमनो जुहोमि विश्वकर्मणे विश्वाहादाभ्यꣳ हवि
With mind and with clarified butter I offer discernment, as the gods came here, the righteous, the upholders of truth. For the lord of all beings, for the all-creating one, I offer this oblation, which is for all desires.
सप्त ते ऽ अग्ने समिधः सप्त जिह्वाः सप्त ऽ ऋषयः सप्त धाम प्रियाणि । सप्त होत्राः सप्तधा त्वा यजन्ति सप्त योनीर् आ पृणस्व घृतेन स्वाहा
Seven are your kindlings, O Agni, seven your tongues, seven the sages, seven your beloved abodes. Seven are the priests, sevenfold they worship you; fill seven wombs with ghee. Svāhā.
शुक्रज्योतिश् च चित्रज्योतिश् च सत्यज्योतिश् च ज्योतिष्माꣳश् च । शुक्रश् च ऽ ऋतपाश् चात्यꣳहाः
Brilliant light, variegated light, true light, and the radiant one; the bright one, the guardian of truth, the great ones.
ईदृङ् चान्यदृङ् च सदृङ् च प्रतिसदृङ् च । मितश् च संमितश् च सभराः
Such as this, and different, and similar, and corresponding; measured, well-measured, and bearing together.
ऋतश् च सत्यश् च ध्रुवश् च धरुणश् च । धर्ता च विधर्ता च विधारयः
Order, truth, the stable, and the supporter; the holder, the arranger, and the sustainers.
ऋतजिच् च सत्यजिच् च सेनजिच् च सुषेणश् च । अन्तिमित्रश् च दूरेऽअमित्रश् च गणः
Conqueror by order, conqueror by truth, conqueror in battle, with good troops; the friend at the border, the unfriendly at a distance, the host.
ईदृक्षास ऽ एतादृक्षास ऽ ऊ षु णः सदृक्षासः प्रतिसदृक्षास ऽ एतन । मितासश् च संमितासो नो ऽ अद्य सभरसो मरुतो यज्ञे ऽ अस्मिन्
Such as these, and those like these, and those who are similar, and those who correspond—let them come. Let those who are measured and well-measured, O Maruts, with strength, be present for our sacrifice today.
स्वतवाꣳश् च प्रघासी च सांतपनश् च गृहमेधी च । क्रीडी च शाकी चोज्जेषी
Possessing wealth, the devourer, the inflamer, the householder; the playful, the branch-bearer, the exciter.
उग्रश् च भीमश् च ध्वान्तश् च धुनिश् च । सासह्वाꣳश् चाभियुग्वा च विक्षिपः स्वाहा । इन्द्रं दैवीर् विशो मरुतो ऽनुवर्त्मानो ऽभवन् यथेन्द्रं दैवीर् विशो मरुतो ऽनुवर्त्मानो ऽभवन् । एवम् इमं यजमानं दैवीश् च विशो मानुषीश् चानुवर्त्मानो भवन्तु
The fierce, the terrible, the dark, the shaker; the powerful, the assailant, the hurler—Svāhā. As the divine hosts, O Maruts, followed Indra, so may the divine and human hosts follow this worshipper.
इमꣳ स्तनमूर्जस्वन्तं धयापां प्रपीनम् अग्ने सरिरस्य मध्ये । उत्सं जुषस्व मधुमन्तम् अर्वन्त् समुद्रियꣳ सदनम् आ विशस्व
Drink this nourishing breast, O Agni, rich and full in the midst of the body. Accept the honeyed, flowing spring, the oceanic seat, and enter in.
घृतं मिमिक्षे घृतम् अस्य योनिर् घृते श्रितो घृतम् व् अस्य धाम । अनुष्वधम् आ वह मादयस्व स्वाहाकृतं वृषभ वक्षि हव्यम्
Ghee has been produced; ghee is its womb; in ghee it is established; ghee is its abode. Bring it here in due order, rejoice; O bull, carry the offering made with Svāhā.
समुद्राद् ऊर्मिर् मधुमाꣳऽ उद् आरद् उपाꣳशुना सम् अमृतत्वम् आनट् । घृतस्य नाम गुह्यं यद् अस्ति जिह्वा देवानाम् अमृतस्य नाभिः
From the ocean, a wave full of sweetness has arisen; with subtlety, it has brought immortality together. The secret name of ghee that exists—the tongue is the navel of the gods, the center of immortality.
वयं नाम प्र ब्रवामा घृतस्यास्मिन् यज्ञे धारयामा नमोभिः । उप ब्रह्मा शृणवच् छस्यमानं चतुःशृङ्गो ऽवमीद् गौर एतत्
We declare the name of ghee; in this sacrifice, we uphold it with reverence. The inspired priest listens to the praise; this is the four-horned bull that has descended.
चत्वारि शृङ्गा त्रयो ऽ अस्य पादा द्वे शीर्षे सप्त हस्तासो ऽ अस्य । त्रिधा बद्धो वृषभो रोरवीति महो देवो मर्त्याꣳ ऽ आ विवेश
It has four horns, three feet, two heads, and seven hands. Bound in threefold ways, the bull bellows; the great god has entered mortals.
त्रिधा हितं पणिभिर् गुह्यमानं गवि देवासो घृतम् अन्व् अविन्दन् । इन्द्र ऽ एकꣳ सूर्य ऽ एकं जजान वेनाद् एकꣳ स्वधया निष्टतक्षुः
The gods found the ghee, hidden in the cow, divided threefold and concealed by the hands. Indra generated one, the Sun one, and one was pressed out by Vena with his own power.
एता ऽअर्षन्ति हृद्यात् समुद्राच् छतव्रजा रिपुणा नावचक्षे । घृतस्य धारा ऽ अभि चाकशीमि हिरण्ययो वेतसो मध्य ऽ आसाम्
These streams flow from the heart, from the ocean, a hundredfold, not to be obstructed by the foe. I behold the streams of ghee; among them is a golden reed in the midst.
सम्यक् स्रवन्ति सरितो न धेना ऽ अन्तर् हृदा मनसा पूयमानाः । एते ऽ अर्षन्त्य् ऊर्मयो घृतस्य मृगा ऽइव क्षिपणोर् ईषमाणाः
They flow together like rivers, like cows, purified within the heart and mind. These waves of ghee rush forth, like deer eager for the swift arrow.
सिन्धोर् इव प्राध्वने शूघनासो वातप्रमियः पतयन्ति यह्वाः । घृतस्य धारा ऽ अरुषो न वाजी काष्ठा भिन्दन्न् ऊर्मिभिः पिन्वमानः
Like the roaring of rivers on their course, swift as the wind, the mighty ones fly. The streams of ghee, like a red horse, break through obstacles, swelling with waves.
अभि प्रवन्त समनेव योषाः कल्याण्यः स्मयमानासो ऽ अग्निम् । घृतस्य धाराः समिधो नसन्त ता जुषाणो हर्यति जातवेदाः
They flow forth together, like women adorned, beautiful, smiling toward Agni. The streams of ghee, as offerings, nourish the kindled fire; Jātavedas delights in accepting them.
कन्या ऽइव वहतुम् एतवा ऽ उ ऽ अञ्ज्य् अञ्जाना ऽ अभि चाकशीमि । यत्र सोमः सूयते यत्र यज्ञो घृतस्य धारा ऽ अभि तत् पवन्ते
Like maidens ready for marriage, anointed, I behold them adorned. Where Soma is pressed, where the sacrifice is performed, there the streams of ghee flow forth.
अभ्य् अर्षत सुष्टुतिं गव्यम् आजिम् अस्मासु भद्रा द्रविणानि धत्त । इमं यज्ञं नयत देवता नो घृतस्य धारा मधुमत् पवन्ते
May you flow forth with excellent praise, victorious in the contest; grant us auspicious wealth. Lead this sacrifice for us, O deities; let the streams of ghee, full of sweetness, flow.
धामन् ते विश्वं भुवनम् अधि श्रितम् अन्तः समुद्रे हृद्यन्तर् आयुषि । अपाम् अनीके समिथे य ऽ आभृतस् तम् अश्याम मधुमन्तं त ऽ ऊर्मिम्
Upon your abode rests all the world, within the ocean, in the heart, in the life within. In the assembly of waters, where that offering is brought, may we partake of that wave full of sweetness.
वाजश् च मे प्रसवश् च मे प्रयतिश् च मे प्रसितिश् च मे धीतिश् च मे क्रतुश् च मे स्वरश् च मे श्लोकश् च मे श्रवश् च मे श्रुतिश् च मे ज्योतिश् च मे स्वश् च मे यज्ञेन कल्पन्ताम्
May vigor be mine, may impulse be mine, may aspiration be mine, may progress be mine, may thought be mine, may resolve be mine, may sound be mine, may praise be mine, may fame be mine, may hearing be mine, may light be mine, may well-being be mine—may all these be accomplished through sacrifice.
प्राणश् च मे ऽपानश् च मे व्यानश् च मे ऽसुश् च मे चित्तं च म ऽ आधीतं च मे वाक् च मे मनश् च मे चक्षुश् च मे श्रोत्रं च मे दक्षश् च मे बलं च मे यज्ञेन कल्पन्ताम्
May breath be mine, may downward breath be mine, may diffused breath be mine, may life be mine, may mind be mine, may understanding be mine, may speech be mine, may mind be mine, may sight be mine, may hearing be mine, may skill be mine, may strength be mine—may all these be accomplished through sacrifice.
ओजस् च मे सहश् च म ऽ आत्मा च मे तनूश् च मे शर्म च मे वर्म च मे ऽङ्गानि च मे ऽस्थीनि च मे परूꣳषि च मे शरीराणि च म ऽ आयुश् च मे जरा च मे यज्ञेन कल्पन्ताम्
May energy be mine, may endurance be mine, may self be mine, may body be mine, may protection be mine, may armor be mine, may limbs be mine, may bones be mine, may coverings be mine, may bodies be mine, may life be mine, may old age be mine—may all these be accomplished through sacrifice.
ज्यैष्ठ्यं च मे ऽ आधिपत्यं च मे मन्युश् च मे भामश् च मे ऽमश् च मे ऽम्भश् च मे महिमा च मे वरिमा च मे प्रथिमा च मे वर्षिमा च मे द्राघिमा च मे वृद्धं च मे वृद्धिश् च मे यज्ञेन कल्पन्ताम्
May supremacy be mine, may lordship be mine, may passion be mine, may force be mine, may abundance be mine, may water be mine, may greatness be mine, may breadth be mine, may expansion be mine, may rain be mine, may length be mine, may growth be mine, may increase be mine—may all these be accomplished through sacrifice.
सत्यं च मे श्रद्धा च मे जगच् च मे धनं च मे विश्वं च मे महश् च मे क्रीडा च मे मोदश् च मे जातं च मे जनिष्यमाणं च मे सूक्तं च मे सुकृतं च मे यज्ञेन कल्पन्ताम्
May truth be mine, may faith be mine, may the moving world be mine, may wealth be mine, may the universe be mine, may greatness be mine, may play be mine, may delight be mine, may what is born be mine, may what is to be born be mine, may good speech be mine, may good deeds be mine—may all these be accomplished through sacrifice.
ऋतं च मे ऽमृतं च मे ऽयक्ष्मं च मे ऽनामयच् च मे जीवातुश् च मे दीर्घायुत्वं च मे ऽनमित्रं च मे ऽभयं च मे सुखं च मे शयनं च मे सूषाश् च मे सुदिनं च मे यज्ञेन कल्पन्ताम्
May order be mine, may immortality be mine, may freedom from disease be mine, may freedom from illness be mine, may long life be mine, may long years be mine, may freedom from enemies be mine, may fearlessness be mine, may happiness be mine, may good sleep be mine, may good awakening be mine, may good day be mine—may all these be accomplished through sacrifice.
यन्ता च मे धर्ता च मे क्षेमश् च मे धृतिश् च मे विश्वं च मे महश् च मे संविच् च मे ज्ञात्रं च मे सूश् च मे प्रसूश् च मे सीरं च मे लयश् च मे यज्ञेन कल्पन्ताम्
May the guide be mine, may the supporter be mine, may security be mine, may steadfastness be mine, may the universe be mine, may greatness be mine, may consciousness be mine, may knowledge be mine, may good offspring be mine, may good progeny be mine, may ploughing be mine, may rest be mine—may all these be accomplished through sacrifice.
