Salutations to the splendid and to the returning; salutations to the southern and to the peaceful; salutations to the renowned and to the final; salutations to the fertile and to the threshing ground.
नमो वन्याय च कक्ष्याय च नमः श्रवाय च प्रतिश्रवाय च नम ऽ आशुषेणाय चाशुरथाय च नमः शूराय चावभेदिने च
Salutations to the wild and to the border; salutations to the hearing and to the echoing; salutations to the swift army and to the swift chariot; salutations to the hero and to the penetrator.
नमो बिल्मिने च कवचिने च नमो वर्मिणे च वरूथिने च नमः श्रुताय च श्रुतसेनाय च नमो दुन्दुभ्याय चाहनन्याय च
Salutations to the one in the cave and to the armored; salutations to the one with armor and with a shield; salutations to the renowned and to the renowned army; salutations to the drum and to the invincible.
नमो धृष्णवे च प्रमृशाय च नमो निषङ्गिणे चेषुधिमते च नमस् तीक्ष्णेषवे चायुधिने च नमः स्वायुधाय च सुधन्वने च
Salutations to the bold and to the toucher; salutations to the one with a quiver and to the one skilled in arrows; salutations to the sharp-arrowed and to the armed; salutations to the self-armed and to the good bowman.
नमः स्रुत्याय च पथ्याय च नमः काट्याय च नीप्याय च नमः कुल्याय च सरस्याय च नमो नादेयाय च वैशन्ताय च
Salutations to the flowing and to the path; salutations to the ditch and to the heap; salutations to the canal and to the lake; salutations to the roaring and to the tranquil.
नमः कूप्याय चावट्याय च नमो वीध्र्याय चातप्याय च नमो मेध्याय च च विद्युत्याय नमो वर्ष्याय चावर्ष्याय च
Salutations to the well and to the pit; salutations to the watercourse and to the heated; salutations to the pure and to the lightning; salutations to the rainy and to the non-rainy.
नमो वात्याय च रेष्म्याय च नमो वास्तव्याय च वास्तुपाय च नमः सोमाय च रुद्राय च नमस् ताम्राय चारुणाय च
Salutations to the windy and to the rushing; salutations to the resident and to the guardian of the dwelling; salutations to Soma and to Rudra; salutations to the copper-colored and to the red.
नमः शंगवे च पशुपतये च नम ऽ उग्राय च भीमाय च नमोऽग्रेवधाय च दूरेवधाय च नमो हन्त्रे च हनीयसे च नमो वृक्षेभ्यो हरिकेशेभ्यो नमस् ताराय
Salutations to the horned and to the lord of cattle; salutations to the fierce and to the terrible; salutations to the slayer at the front and to the slayer at a distance; salutations to the killer and to the one who is to be killed; salutations to the trees and to the green-haired; salutations to the star.
नमः शम्भवाय च मयोभवाय च नमः शंकराय च मयस्कराय च नमः शिवाय च शिवतराय च
Salutations to the source of happiness and to the bringer of joy; salutations to the beneficent and to the maker of happiness; salutations to the auspicious and to the most auspicious.
नमः पार्याय चावार्याय च नमः प्रतरणाय चोत्तरणाय च नमस् तीर्थ्याय च कूल्याय च नमः शष्प्याय च फेन्याय च
Salutations to the one at the boundary and to the one beyond; salutations to the one who crosses and to the one who lifts across; salutations to the one at the ford and to the canal; salutations to the grassy and to the foamy.
नमः सिकत्याय च प्रवाह्याय च नमः किꣳशिलाय च क्षयणाय च नमः कपर्दिने च पुलस्तये च नम ऽ इरिण्याय च प्रपथ्याय च
Salutations to the sandy and to the flowing; salutations to the stony and to the decaying; salutations to the one with matted hair and to the descendant of Pulastya; salutations to the desert and to the broad path.
नमो व्रज्याय च गोष्ठ्याय च नमस् तल्प्याय च गेह्याय च नमो हृदय्याय च निवेष्याय च नमः काट्याय च गह्वरेष्ठाय च
Salutations to the one in the pasture and to the cattle pen; salutations to the one on the mat and to the one in the house; salutations to the one in the heart and to the one in the dwelling; salutations to the one in the ditch and to the one who dwells in the cavern.
नमः शुष्क्याय च हरित्याय च नमः पाꣳसव्याय च रजस्याय च नमो लोप्याय चोलप्याय च नम ऽ ऊर्व्याय च सूर्व्याय च
Salutations to the dry and to the green; salutations to the dusty and to the misty; salutations to the ploughed and to the tilled; salutations to the earth and to the sunlit.
नमः पर्णाय च पर्णशदाय च नम ऽ उद्गुरमाणाय चाभिघ्नते च नम ऽ आखिदते च प्रखिदते च नम ऽ इषुकृद्भ्यो धनुष्कृद्भ्यस् च वो नमो नमो वः किरिकेभ्यो देवानाꣳ हृदयेभ्यो नमो विचिन्वत्केभ्यो नमो विक्षिणत्केभ्यो नम ऽ आनिर्हतेभ्यः
Salutations to the leafy and to the leaf-bearer; salutations to the one who uproots and to the one who strikes; salutations to the one who shakes and to the one who makes tremble; salutations to the makers of arrows and to the makers of bows; salutations, salutations to you, O scatterers, to the hearts of the gods; salutations to the searchers; salutations to the destroyers; salutations to the invincible.
द्रापे ऽ अन्धसस् पते दरिद्र नीललोहित । आसां प्रजानाम् एषां पशूनां मा भेर् मा रोङ् मो च नः किं चनाममत्
O destroyer, lord of food, impoverished one, blue and red-hued, do not harm these beings, these cattle; do not strike, do not injure us in any way.
इमा रुद्राय तवसे कपर्दिने क्षयद्वीराय प्र भरामहे मतीः । यथा शम् असद् द्विपदे चतुष्पदे विश्वं पुष्टं ग्रामे ऽ अस्मिन्न् अनातुरम्
To Rudra, the mighty, the matted-haired, the one who destroys the brave, we offer these thoughts; so that there may be peace for bipeds and quadrupeds, and all in this village may be nourished and free from distress.
या ते रुद्र शिवा तनूः शिवा विश्वाहा भेषजी । शिवा रुतस्य भेषजी तया नो मृड जीवसे
O Rudra, your auspicious form, ever beneficent, the universal healer, the remedy for all suffering—by that, grant us happiness and life.
परि नो रुद्रस्य हेतिर् वृणक्तु परि त्वेषस्य दुर्मतिर् अघायोः । अव स्थिरा मघवद्भ्यस् तनुष्व मीढ्वस् तोकाय तनयाय मृड
May the missile of Rudra turn away from us, may the fierce one’s wrath and evil intention pass us by; O gracious one, protect the generous, shield our children and descendants, grant us mercy.
मीढुष्टम शिवतम शिवो नः सुमना भव । परमे वृक्ष ऽ आयुधं निधाय कृत्तिं वसान ऽ आ चर पिनाकं बिभ्रद् आ गहि
Most generous, most auspicious, be kindly disposed toward us; having set your weapon down on the highest tree, clad in a hide, come near, bearing your bow Pinaka.
विकिरिद्र विलोहित नमस् ते ऽ अस्तु भगवः । यास् ते सहस्रꣳ हेतयो ऽन्यम् अस्मन् नि वपन्तु ताः
Scatterer, red-hued, to you be homage, O Lord; may your thousand missiles fall elsewhere, away from us.
सहस्राणि सहस्रशो बाह्वोस् तव हेतयः । तासाम् ईशानो भगवः पराचीना मुखा कृधि
Thousands upon thousands are your missiles, O Lord, in your arms; of these, be the master, turn their faces away from us.
असंख्याता सहस्राणि ये रुद्रा ऽ अधि भूम्याम् । तेषाꣳ सहस्रयोजनेऽव धन्वानि तन्मसि
Countless thousands of Rudras are upon the earth; at a thousand leagues’ distance, may their bows be laid down.
अस्मिन् महत्य् अर्णवे ऽन्तरिक्षे भवा ऽ अधि । तेषाꣳ सहस्रयोजनेऽव धन्वानि तन्मसि
In this vast ocean, in the atmosphere, you dwell; at a thousand leagues’ distance, may their bows be laid down.
नीलग्रीवाः शितिकण्ठा दिवꣳ रुद्रा ऽ उपश्रिताः । तेषाꣳ सहस्रयोजनेऽव धन्वानि तन्मसि
Blue-necked, white-throated Rudras who have ascended to heaven; at a thousand leagues’ distance, may their bows be laid down.
नीलग्रीवाः शितिकण्ठाः शर्वा ऽ अधः क्षमाचराः । तेषाꣳ सहस्रयोजने ऽव धन्वानि तन्मसि
Blue-necked, white-throated Sharvas who move upon the earth below; at a thousand leagues’ distance, may their bows be laid down.
ये वृक्षेषु शष्पिञ्जरा नीलग्रीवा विलोहिताः । तेषाꣳ सहस्रयोजने ऽव धन्वानि तन्मसि
Those among the trees, tawny, blue-necked, red-hued; at a thousand leagues’ distance, may their bows be laid down.
ये भूतानाम् अधिपतयो विशिखासः कपर्दिनः । तेषाꣳ सहस्रयोजने ऽव धन्वानि तन्मसि
Those who are lords of beings, arrow-bearers, matted-haired; at a thousand leagues’ distance, may their bows be laid down.
ये पथां पथिरक्षस ऽ ऐलबृदा ऽ आयुर्युधः । तेषाꣳ सहस्रयोजने ऽव धन्वानि तन्मसि
Those who guard the paths, leaders of travelers, wielding weapons of life; at a thousand leagues’ distance, may their bows be laid down.
ये तीर्थानि प्रचरन्ति सृकाहस्ता निषङ्गिणः । तेषाꣳ सहस्रयोजने ऽव धन्वानि तन्मसि
Those who roam the fords, holding clubs, bearing quivers; at a thousand leagues’ distance, may their bows be laid down.
ये ऽन्नेषु विविध्यन्ति पात्रेषु पिबतो जनान् । तेषाꣳ सहस्रयोजने ऽव धन्वानि तन्मसि
Those who strike people eating food, drinking from vessels; at a thousand leagues’ distance, may their bows be laid down.
