अग्निर् मूर्धा दिवः ककुत् पतिः पृथिव्या ऽ अयम् । अपाꣳ रेताꣳसि जिन्वति
Agni is the crown of heaven, the summit, the lord of the earth; he impels the seeds of the waters.
अयम् अग्निः सहस्रिणो वाजस्य शतिनस् पतिः । मूर्धा कवी रयीणाम्
This Agni is the lord of a thousand strengths, the lord of a hundred riches; the crown of the wise, of the treasures.
त्वाम् अग्ने पुष्कराद् अध्य् अथर्वा निर् अमन्थत । मूर्ध्नो विश्वस्य वाघतः
O Agni, Atharvan churned you forth from the lotus; you are the head of all creation.
भुवो यज्ञस्य रजसश् च नेता यत्रा नियुद्भिः सचसे शिवाभिः । दिवि मूर्धानं दधिषे स्वर्षां जिह्वाम् अग्ने चकृषे हव्यवाहम्
You are the leader of sacrifice and of the realm; where you join with auspicious companions, you have placed your head in heaven and made your tongue the bearer of offerings, O Agni, shining with light.
अबोध्य् अग्निः समिधा जनानां प्रति धेनुम् इवायतीम् उषासम् । यह्वा ऽ इव प्र वयाम् उज्जिहानाः प्र भानवः सिस्रते नाकम् अच्छ
Agni awakened among people with the kindling, like a cow stretching toward her calf at dawn; as young steeds rise, so the rays hasten toward the sky.
अवोचाम कवये मेध्याय वचो वन्दारु वृषभाय वृष्णे । गविष्ठिरो नमसा स्तोमम् अग्नौ दिवीव रुक्मम् उरुव्यञ्चम् अश्रेत्
We have spoken words to the wise, to the pure, to the bull, the mighty one, worthy of praise; with reverence, we have offered a hymn to Agni, as a golden ornament is placed in the sky, broad and shining.
अयम् इह प्रथमो धायि धातृभिर् होता यजिष्ठो ऽ अध्वरेष्व् ईड्यः । यम् अप्नवानो भृगवो विरुरुचुर् वनेषु चित्रं विभ्वं विशे-विशे
Here, first among the creators, is established the Hotar, most fit for sacrifice, worthy in the rituals; whom the Bhrigus, free from sin, revealed in the forests, wondrous and radiant for each clan.
जनस्य गोपा ऽ अजनिष्ट जागृविर् अग्निः सुदक्षः सुविताय नव्यसे । घृतप्रतीको बृहता दिविस्पृशा द्युमद् वि भाति भरतेभ्यः शुचिः
Agni, the vigilant guardian of the people, was born, skilled and generous for new prosperity; with ghee-anointed face, vast and touching the heavens, he shines brightly, pure for the Bharatas.
त्वाम् अग्ने ऽ अङ्गिरसो गुहा हितम् अन्व् अविन्दञ् छिश्रियाणं वने-वने । स जायसे मथ्यमानः सहो महत् त्वाम् आहुः सहसस् पुत्रम् अङ्गिरः
The Angirases found you, Agni, hidden in secret, resting in every forest; you are born when churned, mighty and great, and they call you the son of strength, O Angiras.
सखायः सं वः सम्यञ्चम् इषꣳ स्तोमं चाग्नये । वर्षिष्ठाय क्षितीनामूर्जो नप्त्रे सहस्वते
Friends, let us together offer our praise and desire to Agni, the most bountiful among peoples, the son of strength and of nourishment.
सꣳ-सम् इद् युवसे वृषन्न् अग्ने विश्वान्य् अर्य ऽ आ । इडस् पदे सम् इध्यसे स नो वसून्य् आ भर
O vigorous Agni, you are kindled together in every Aryan home; at the seat of Ida, you are ignited—bring us the wealth.
त्वां चित्रश्रवस्तम हवन्ते विक्षु जन्तवः । शोचिष्केशं पुरुप्रियाग्ने हव्याय वोढवे
You, most renowned, are called upon by people in the villages; O Agni, with flaming hair, beloved by many, as the carrier of offerings.
एना वो ऽ अग्निं नमसोर्जो नपातम् आ हुवे । प्रियं चेतिष्ठम् अरतिꣳ स्वध्वरं विश्वस्य दूतम् अमृतम्
With this reverence, I call Agni, the son of nourishment, dear and swift, the friend, the proper guest, the immortal messenger of all.
विश्वस्य दूतम् अमृतं विश्वस्य दूतम् अमृतम् । स योजते ऽ अरुषा विश्वभोजसा स दुद्रवत् स्वाहुतः
The immortal messenger of all, the immortal messenger of all; he is yoked with the red steeds, enjoying all, and he rushes forth when invoked.
स दुद्रवत् स्वाहुतः स दुद्रवत् स्वाहुतः । सुब्रह्मा यज्ञः सुशमी वसूनां देवꣳ राधो जनानाम्
He rushes forth when invoked, he rushes forth when invoked; the sacrifice is well-ordered, the praise is beautiful, the godly wealth is the reward of people.
अग्ने वाजस्य गोमत ऽ ईशानः सहसो यहो । अस्मे धेहि जातवेदो महि श्रवः
O Agni, lord of strength and cattle, master of power and glory, grant us, O Jātavedas, great fame.
स ऽ इधानो वसुष् कविर् अग्निर् ईडेन्यो गिरा । रेवद् अस्मभ्यं पुर्वणीक दीदिहि
Agni, the wise, kindled for wealth, is worthy of praise in song; shine forth for us, O leader, with your ancient light.
क्षपो राजन्न् उत त्मनाग्ने वस्तोर् उतोषसः । स तिग्मजम्भ रक्षसो दह प्रति
O king, Agni, through the nights and by your own nature, through the dwelling and the dawn, burn the demons with your sharp jaws.
