युक्ष्वा हि देवहूतमाँ२ऽ अश्वाँ२ऽ अग्ने रथीर् इव । नि होता पूर्व्यः सदः
Yoke, indeed, O Agni, those horses called by the gods, like charioteers; let the ancient Hotar sit in the seat.
सम्यक् स्रवन्ति सरितो न धेना ऽ अन्तर् हृदा मनसा पूयमानाः । घृतस्य धारा ऽ अभि चाकशीमि हिरण्ययो वेतसो मध्ये ऽ अग्नेः
The rivers flow together, like cows, purified within the heart and mind; I behold streams of ghee, golden reeds, in the midst of Agni.
ऋचे त्वा रुचे त्वा भासे त्वा ज्योतिषे त्वा । अभूद् इदं विश्वस्य भुवनस्य वाजिनम् अग्नेर् वैश्वानरस्य च
For the hymn, for the radiance, for the brilliance, for the light, you have arisen as the steed of the world, of Agni and of Vaiśvānara.
अग्निर् ज्योतिषा ज्योतिष्मान् रुक्मो वर्चसा वर्चस्वान् । सहस्रदा ऽ असि सहस्राय त्वा
Agni, radiant with light, resplendent with gold, endowed with brilliance, you are the thousand-giver; for the thousand, you.
आदित्यं गर्भं पयसा सम् अङ्धि सहस्रस्य प्रतिमां विश्वरूपम् । परि वृङ्धि हरसा माभि मꣳस्थाः शतायुषं कृणुहि चीयमानः
Mix the essence to the embryo of the sun, the image of the thousand, of all forms; expand with vigor, do not falter, make him of a hundred years as you grow.
वातस्य जूतिं वरुणस्य नाभिम् अश्वं जज्ञानꣳ सरिरस्य मध्ये । शिशुं नदीनाꣳ हरिम् अद्रिबुध्नम् अग्ने मा हिꣳसीः परमे व्योमन्
The movement of the wind, the navel of Varuṇa, the horse born in the midst of the body, the child of the rivers, the tawny one, rooted in the mountain—Agni, do not harm him in the highest heaven.
अजस्रम् इन्दुम् अरुषं भुरण्युम् अग्निम् ईडे पूर्वचित्तिं नमोभिः । स पर्वभिर् ऋतुशः कल्पमानो गां मा हिꣳसीर् अदितिं विराजम्
I praise Agni, the ceaseless, red, shining one, ancient in wisdom, with reverence; as he arranges himself seasonally with the mountains, do not harm the earth, Aditi, or the shining one.
वरूत्रीं त्वष्टुर् वरुणस्य नाभिम् अविं जज्ञानाꣳ रजसः परस्मात् । महीꣳ साहस्रीम् असुरस्य मायाम् अग्ने मा हिꣳसीः परमे व्योमन्
The covering of Tvaṣṭṛ, the navel of Varuṇa, the sheep born from the highest realm; the great, thousandfold magic of the Asura—Agni, do not harm her in the highest heaven.
यो ऽ अग्निर् अग्नेर् अधिय् अजायत शोकात् पृथिव्या ऽ उत वा दिवस् परि । येन प्रजा विश्वकर्मा जजान तम् अग्ने हेडः परि ते वृणक्तु
He who is Agni, born from Agni, from the heat of the earth or from the sky; by whom the creator fashioned the offspring—Agni, may your favor encompass him.
चित्रं देवानाम् उद् अगाद् अनीकं चक्षुर् मित्रस्य वरुणस्याग्नेः । आप्रा द्यावापृथिवी ऽ अन्तरिक्षꣳ सूर्य ऽ आत्मा जगतस् तस्थुषश् च
The wondrous face of the gods has arisen, the eye of Mitra, Varuṇa, and Agni; it fills the heavens, earth, and space—Sūrya is the soul of all that moves and stands.
इमं मा हिꣳसीर् द्विपादं पशुꣳ सहस्राक्षो मेधाय चीयमानः । मयुं पशुं मेधम् अग्ने जुषस्व तेन चिन्वानस् तन्वो नि षीद । मयुं ते शुग् ऋच्छतु यं द्विष्मस् तं ते शुग् ऋच्छतु
Do not harm this two-footed animal, O thousand-eyed, as he grows for sacrifice; accept the sacrificial animal, Agni, and with it settle yourself in the body; may the one we hate go to your flame, may your flame take him.
इमं मा हिꣳसीर् एकशफं पशुं कनिक्रदं वाजिनं वाजिनेषु । गौरम् आरण्यम् अनु ते दिशामि तेन चिन्वानस् तन्वो नि षीद । गौरं ते शुग् ऋच्छतु यं द्विष्मस् तं ते शुग् ऋच्छतु
Do not harm this one-hoofed animal, the neighing steed among steeds; I direct the wild bull to you, and with it settle yourself in the body; may the one we hate go to your flame, may your flame take him.
इमꣳ साहस्रꣳ शतधारम् उत्सं व्यच्यमानꣳ सरिरस्य मध्ये । घृतं दुहानाम् अदितिं जनायाग्ने मा हिꣳसीः परमे व्योमन् । गवयम् आरण्यम् अनु ते दिशामि तेन चिन्वानस् तन्वो नि षीद । गवयं ते शुग् ऋच्छतु यं द्विष्मस् तं ते शुग् ऋच्छतु
This thousand-streamed, hundred-flowing fountain, flowing in the midst of the body, yielding ghee—Aditi for the people—Agni, do not harm her in the highest heaven; I direct the wild ox to you, and with it settle yourself in the body; may the one we hate go to your flame, may your flame take him.
इममूर्णायुं वरुणस्य नाभिं त्वचं पशूनां द्विपदांचतुष्पदाम् । त्वष्टुः प्रजानां प्रथमं जनित्रम् अग्ने मा हिꣳसीः परमे व्योमन् । उष्ट्रम् आरण्यम् अनु ते दिशामि तेन चिन्वानस् तन्वो नि षीद । उष्ट्रं ते शुग् ऋच्छतु यं द्विष्मस् तं ते शुग् ऋच्छतु
This wool-bearing navel of Varuṇa, the skin of animals, both two-footed and four-footed, the first progenitor of Tvaṣṭṛ's offspring—Agni, do not harm it in the highest heaven; I direct the camel to you, and with it settle yourself in the body; may the one we hate go to your flame, may your flame take him.
अजो ह्य् अग्नेर् अजनिष्ट शोकात् सो ऽ अपश्यज् जनितारम् अग्रे । तेन देवा देवताम् अग्रम् आयꣳस् तेन रोहम् आयन्न् उप मेध्यासः । शरभम् आरण्यम् अनु ते दिशामि तेन चिन्वानस् तन्वो नि षीद । शरभं ते शुग् ऋच्छतु यं द्विष्मस् तं ते शुग् ऋच्छतु
The goat was born from Agni's heat, and he saw the creator at the beginning; with it the gods attained divinity, with it the priests attained the sacrificial offering; I direct the wild deer to you, and with it settle yourself in the body; may the one we hate go to your flame, may your flame take him.
त्वं यविष्ठ दाशुषो नॄꣳः पाहि शृणुधी गिरः । रक्षा तोकम् उत त्मना
You, youngest, protect the worshippers, listen to their words; guard the offspring and yourself.

I settle you in the end of the waters; I settle you in the middle of the waters; I settle you in the ashes of the waters; I settle you in the light of the waters; I settle you in the movement of the waters; I settle you in the abode of the ocean; I settle you in the abode of the sea; I settle you in the abode of the body; I settle you in the dwelling of the waters; I settle you in the seat of the waters; I settle you in the abode of the waters; I settle you in the place of the waters; I settle you in the womb of the waters; I settle you in the dung of the waters; I settle you in the path of the waters; I settle you with the Gāyatrī meter; I settle you with the Triṣṭubh meter; I settle you with the Jagatī meter; I settle you with the Anuṣṭubh meter; I settle you with the Pāśru meter.
अयं पुरो भुवः । तस्य प्राणो भौवनायः । वसन्तः प्राणायनः । गायत्री वासन्ती । गायत्र्यै गायत्रम् । गायत्राद् उपाꣳशुः । उपाꣳशोस् त्रिवृत् । त्रिवृतो रथन्तरम् । वसिष्ठ ऽ ऋषिः । प्रजापतिगृहीतया त्वया प्राणं गृह्णामि प्रजाभ्यः
This is the east, the world; its breath is the breath of the world; spring is the breath; Gāyatrī is of spring; Gāyatra for Gāyatrī; from Gāyatrī, Upāṃśu; from Upāṃśu, Trivṛt; from Trivṛt, Rathantara; Vasiṣṭha is the seer; with you, taken by Prajāpati, I take breath for the offspring.
अयं दक्षिणा विश्वकर्मा । तस्य मनो वैश्वकर्मणम् । ग्रीष्मो मानसः । त्रिष्टुब् ग्रैष्मी । त्रिष्टुभः स्वारम् । स्वाराद् अन्तर्यामः । ऽअन्तर्यामात् पञ्चदशः । पञ्चदशाद् बृहत् । भरद्वाज ऽ ऋषिः । प्रजापतिगृहीतया त्वया मनो गृह्णामि प्रजाभ्यः
This is the south, the all-maker; its mind is the mind of all-making; summer is the mind; Triṣṭubh is of summer; Triṣṭubh for Triṣṭubh; from Triṣṭubh, Svāra; from Svāra, Antaryāma; from Antaryāma, the fifteenth; from the fifteenth, Bṛhat; Bharadvāja is the seer; with you, taken by Prajāpati, I take mind for the offspring.

This is the west, all-pervading; its eye is the eye of all-pervading; the rains are of the eye; Jagatī is of the rains; Jagatī for Jagatī; from Jagatī, Ṛksamā; from Ṛksamā, Śukra; from Śukra, the seventeenth; from the seventeenth, Vairūpa; Jamadagni is the seer; with you, taken by Prajāpati, I take the eye for the offspring.
इदं उत्तरात् स्वः । तस्य श्रोत्रꣳ सौवम् । शरच् छ्रौत्री । अनुष्टुप् शारदी । अनुष्टुभ ऽ ऐडम् । ऐडान् मन्थी । मन्थिन ऽ एकविꣳशः ऽ । एकविꣳशाद् वैराजम् । विश्वामित्र ऽ ऋषिः । प्रजापतिगृहीतया त्वया श्रोत्रं गृह्णामि प्रजाभ्यः
This is the heaven from the north. Its ear is the Sauman chant. Sharad is the ear-season. Anuṣṭup is the Sharad meter. The Anuṣṭup is Aiḍam. Aiḍam is the churner. The churner is twenty-one. From twenty-one comes the Vairāja. Viśvāmitra is the seer. With you, taken by Prajāpati, I take the ear for the people.
इयं उपरि मतिः । तस्यै वाङ् मात्या । हेमन्तो वाच्यः । पङ्क्तिर् हैमन्ती । पङ्क्त्यै निधनवत् । निधनवत ऽ आग्रयणः । आग्रयणात् त्रिणवत्रयस्त्रिꣳशौ । त्रिणवत्रयस्त्रिꣳशाभ्याꣳ शाक्वररैवते । विश्वकर्म ऽ ऋषिः । प्रजापतिगृहीतया त्वया वाचं गृह्णामि प्रजाभ्यः । [ लोकं पृण छिद्रं पृणाथो सीद ध्रुवा त्वम् । इन्द्राग्नी त्वा बृहस्पतिर् अस्मिन् योनाव् असीषदन् । ता अस्य सूददोहसः सोमꣳ श्रीणन्ति पृश्नयः । जन्मन् देवानां विशस् त्रिष्व् आ रोचने दिवः । इन्द्रं विश्वा अवीवृधन्त् समुद्रव्यचसं गिरः । रथीतमꣳ रथीनां वाजानाꣳ सत्पतिं पतिम् ॥ ]???
This is the thought above. Speech is its mother. Hemanta is the season of speech. Paṅkti is the Hemanta meter. Paṅkti is with a close. With a close is the Āgrayaṇa. From Āgrayaṇa come the thirty-nine. From the thirty-nine come the Śākvara and Raivata. Viśvakarman is the seer. With you, taken by Prajāpati, I take speech for the people.
ध्रुवक्षितिर् ध्रुवयोनिर् ध्रुवासि ध्रुवं योनिम् आ सीद साधुया । उख्यस्य केतुं प्रथमं जुषाणा । अश्विनाध्वर्यू सादयताम् इह त्वा
You are the firm earth, the firm womb; you are firm, sit in the firm womb with goodness. Accept the foremost banner of the yoked one. May the Aśvins, the priests, seat you here.
कुलायिनी घृतवती पुरंधिः स्योने सीद सदने पृथिव्याः । अभि त्वा रुद्रा वसवो गृणन्त्व् इमा ब्रह्म पीपिहि सौभगाय । अश्विनाध्वर्यू सादयताम् इह त्वा
O nest-builder, rich in ghee, bountiful one, sit happily in the seat of earth. May the Rudras and Vasus praise you; protect these prayers for good fortune. May the Aśvins, the priests, seat you here.
स्वैर् दक्षैर् दक्षपितेह सीद देवानाꣳ सुम्ने बृहते रणाय । पितेवैधि सूनव ऽ आ सुशेवा स्वावेशा तन्वा सं विशस्व । अश्विनाध्वर्यू सादयताम् इह त्वा
Sit here with your own powers, O father of skill, in the great favor of the gods for victory. Like a father to his sons, be well-disposed, enter with your body. May the Aśvins, the priests, seat you here.
पृथिव्याः पुरीषम् अस्य् अप्सो नाम तां त्वा विश्वे ऽ अभि गृणन्तु देवाः । स्तोमपृष्ठा घृतवतीह सीद प्रजावद् अस्मे द्रविणा यजस्व । अश्विनाध्वर्यू सादयताम् इह त्वा
You are the moisture of the earth, your name is water; may all the gods praise you. O one praised with hymns, rich in ghee, sit here; grant us wealth with offspring. May the Aśvins, the priests, seat you here.
अदित्यास् त्वा पृष्ठे सादयाम्य् अन्तरिक्षस्य धर्त्रीं विष्टम्भनीं दिशामधिपत्नीं भुवनानामूर्मिर् द्रप्सो ऽ अपाम् असि विश्वकर्मा त ऽ ऋषिः । अश्विनाध्वर्यू सादयताम् इह त्वा
I seat you, O Adityas, on the back, supporter and pillar of the midspace, mistress of the directions, wave of the worlds, drop of the waters; you are Viśvakarman, the seer. May the Aśvins, the priests, seat you here.
शुक्रश् च शुचिश् च ग्रीष्माव् ऋतू ऽ अग्नेर् अन्तःश्लेषो ऽसि कल्पेतां द्यावापृथिवी कल्पन्ताम् आप ऽ ओषधयः कल्पन्ताम् अग्नयः पृथङ् नम ज्यैष्ठ्याय सव्रताः । ये ऽ अग्नयः समनसो ऽन्तरा द्यावापृथिवी ऽ इमे ग्रैष्माव् ऋतू ऽ अभिकल्पमानाऽ इन्द्रम् इव देवा ऽ अभिसं विशन्तु तया देवतयाङ्गिरस्वद् ध्रुवे सीदतम्
Śukra and Śuci are the summer seasons; you are the inner binding of Agni. May heaven and earth be prepared, may the waters and plants be prepared, may the fires be prepared separately, with supremacy and firm vows. The fires that are united between heaven and earth, these summer seasons being prepared, may the gods enter as they do Indra. With that divinity, O Angiras, sit firmly.
