या ऽ ओषधीः सोमराज्ञीर् विष्ठिताः पृथिवीम् अनु । बृहस्पतिप्रसूता ऽ अस्यै सं दत्त वीर्यम्
You are the plants of Soma the king, spread over the earth, born of Brihaspati—grant her your strength.
याश् चेदम् उपशृण्वन्ति याश् च दूरं परागताः । सर्वाः संगत्य वीरुधो ऽस्यै सं दत्त वीर्यम्
Those who hear this nearby, and those who have gone far away—all the herbs, gathering together, grant her your strength.
मा वो रिषत् खनिता यस्मै चाहं खनामि वः । द्विपाच् चतुष्पाद् अस्माकꣳ सर्वम् अस्त्व् अनातुरम्
May the one who digs you up not be harmed, nor the one for whom I dig you; may all our bipeds and quadrupeds be free from illness.
ओषधयः सम् अवदन्त सोमेन सह राज्ञा । यस्मै कृणोति ब्राह्मणस् तꣳ राजन् पारयामसि
The plants spoke together with Soma the king: 'For whom the Brahmin prepares, O king, we shall deliver him.'
नाशयित्री बलासस्यार्शस ऽउपचिताम् असि । अथो शतस्य यक्ष्माणां पाकारोर् असि नाशनी
You are the destroyer of swelling, the disperser of piles; and you are the ripener and destroyer of a hundred diseases.
त्वां गन्धर्वा ऽअखनꣳस् त्वाम् इन्द्रस् त्वां बृहस्पतिः । त्वाम् ओषधे सोमो राजा विद्वान् यक्ष्माद् अमुच्यत
You were dug by the Gandharvas, by Indra, by Brihaspati; you, O plant, Soma the wise king released from disease.
सहस्व मे ऽ अरातीः सहस्व पृतनायतः । सहस्व सर्वं पाप्मानꣳ सहमानास्य् ओषधे
Withstand for me the hostilities, withstand the attack of the enemy; withstand all evil, O plant, enduring one.
दीर्घायुस्त ऽ ओषधे खनिता यस्मै च त्वा खनाम्य् अहम् । अथो त्वं दीर्घायुर् भूत्वा शतवल्शा वि रोहतात्
Long life to the one for whom you are dug, and to whom I dig you; and may you, being long-lived, grow with a hundred roots.
त्वम् उत्तमास्य् ओषधे तव वृक्षा ऽ उपस्तयः । उपस्तिर् अस्तु सो स्माकं योऽअस्माꣳ२ऽ अभिदासति
O best of plants, your trees are supports; let that support be ours, whoever assails us.
मा मा हिꣳसीज् जनिता यः पृथिव्या यो वा दिवꣳ सत्यधर्मा व्यानट् । यश् चापश् चन्द्राः प्रथमो जजान कस्मै देवाय हविषा विधेम
Let not him who is the begetter of earth or who, true in law, has spread the sky, harm us; nor he who first begot the shining waters— to which god shall we offer with oblation?
अभ्या वर्तस्व पृथिवि यज्ञेन पयसा सह । वपां ते अग्निर् ऽ इषितो ऽ अरोहत्
Advance, O earth, with the sacrifice, together with the milk; let Agni, impelled, ascend your fat.
अग्ने यत् ते शुक्रं यच् चन्द्रं यत् पूतं यच् च यज्ञियम् । तद् देवेभ्यो भरामसि
O Agni, what is bright of yours, what is shining, what is pure, and what is fit for sacrifice— that we bear to the gods.
इषमूर्जम् अहम् इत ऽ आदम् ऋतस्य योनिं महिषस्य धाराम् । आ मा गोषु विशत्वा तनूषु जहामि सेदिम् अनिराम् अमीवाम्
I take here food and strength, the source of truth, the stream of the mighty one; let it enter our cows and bodies. I cast away disease, barrenness, and misfortune.
अग्ने तव श्रवो वयो महि भ्राजन्ते ऽ अर्चयो विभावसो । बृहद्भानो शवसा वाजम् उक्थ्यं दधासि दाशुषे कवे
O Agni, your fame and power are great; your flames shine, O radiant one. Of broad light, with your might you grant strength and praise to the worshipper, O sage.
पावकवर्चाः शुक्रवर्चा ऽ अनूनवर्चा ऽ उद् इयर्षि भानुना । पुत्रो मातरा विचरन्न् उपावसि पृणक्षि रोदसी ऽ उभे
Of pure radiance, shining radiance, unfailing radiance, you rise upward with your light; as a son moving between his mothers, you fill both worlds.
ऊर्जो नपाज् जातवेदः सुशस्तिभिर् मन्दस्व धीतिभिर् हितः । त्वे ऽ इषः सं दधुर् भूरिवर्पसश् चित्रोतयो वामजाताः
O Jātavedas, offspring of strength, rejoice with good praises, established by wise thoughts; in you, O richly formed one, the bountiful, wondrously born, have placed their offerings.
इरज्यन्न् अग्ने प्रथयस्व जन्तुभिर् अस्मे रायो ऽ अमर्त्य । स दर्शतस्य वपुषो वि राजसि पृणक्षि सानसिं क्रतुम्
O Agni, shining forth, expand with beings for us wealth, O immortal one; you shine with the form of the visible, you fill the seat with strength.
इष्कर्तारम् अध्वरस्य प्रचेतसं क्षयन्तꣳ राधसो महः । रातिं वामस्य सुभगां महीम् इषं दधासि सानसिꣳ रयिम्
The maker of the rite, the wise, the dweller in great wealth, you grant the fair, great, and blessed gift, you bestow abundant food and riches on the seat.
ऋतावानं महिषं विश्वदर्शतम् अग्निꣳ सुम्नाय दधिरे पुरो जनाः । श्रुत्कर्णꣳ सप्रथस्तमं त्वा गिरा दैव्यं मानुषा युगा
The peoples have placed Agni, the mighty, the all-seeing, the upholder of order, for favor; you, O divine one, most renowned, most widely spread, men of all ages praise with song.
आ प्यायस्व सम् एतु ते विश्वतः सोम वृष्ण्यम् । भवा वाजस्य संगथे
Fill yourself up, let your vigor come together from all sides, O Soma; be present at the gathering of strength.
सं ते पयाꣳसि सम् उ यन्तु वाजाः सं वृष्ण्यान्य् अभिमातिषाहः । आप्यायमानो ऽ अमृताय सोम दिवि श्रवाꣳस्य् उत्तमानि धिष्व
May your milks, your strengths, your manly powers, and your victorious energies come together; being filled, O Soma, for immortality, place the highest glories in heaven.
आ प्यायस्व मदिन्तम सोम विश्वेभिर् अꣳशुभिः । भवा नः सुश्रवस्तमः सखा वृधे
Fill yourself, O Soma, most exhilarating, with all your streams; be for us the most renowned friend for increase.
आ ते वत्सो मनो यमत् परमाच् चित् सधस्थात् । अग्ने त्वां कामया गिरा
To you, O Agni, my mind goes as a calf to its distant resting place; I desire you with my song.
तुभ्यं ता ऽ अङ्गिरस्तम विश्वाः सुक्षितयः पृथक् । अग्ने कामाय येमिरे
To you, O most Angiras, all good dwellings separately, O Agni, have turned for desire.
अग्निः प्रियेषु धामसु कामो भूतस्य भव्यस्य । सम्राड् एको वि राजति
Agni, in beloved abodes, is the desire of what has been and what will be; the sole sovereign shines forth.
मयि गृह्णाम्य् अग्रे ऽ अग्निꣳ रायस्पोषाय सुप्रजास्त्वाय सुवीर्याय । माम् उ देवताः सचन्ताम्
I take Agni first for myself, for increase of wealth, for good offspring, for heroism; may the deities attend me.
अपां पृष्ठम् असि योनिर् अग्नेः समुद्रम् अभितः पिन्वमानम् । वर्धमानो महाँ२ ऽ आ च पुष्करे दिवो मात्रया वरिम्णा प्रथस्व
You are the back of the waters, the womb of Agni, swelling around the ocean. Growing great, come forth in the lotus; spread out by the measure and vastness of the sky.
ब्रह्म जज्ञानं प्रथमं पुरस्ताद् वि सीमतः सुरुचो वेन ऽ आवः । स बुध्न्या ऽ उपमा ऽ अस्य विष्ठाः सतश् च योनिम् असतश् च वि वः
Brahma was born first, in the beginning, radiant before the boundaries, shining with splendor. He, the Vena, moved; his roots are deep, the highest and lowest, the womb of existence and non-existence.
हिरण्यगर्भः सम् अवर्तताग्रे भूतस्य जातः पतिर् एक ऽ आसीत् । स दाधार पृथिवीं द्याम् उतेमां कस्मै देवाय हविषा विधेम
Hiraṇyagarbha arose in the beginning, the sole lord of all that exists. He sustained earth and heaven; to which god shall we offer our sacrifice?
द्रप्सश् चस्कन्द पृथिवीम् अनु द्याम् इमं च योनिम् अनु यश् च पूर्वः । समानं योनिम् अनु संचरन्तं द्रप्सं जुहोम्य् अनु सप्त होत्राः
The drop descended upon earth and heaven, upon this womb and the former one. I offer the drop moving through the common womb, together with the seven priests.
