सीद होतः स्व ऽ उ लोके चिकित्वान् सादया यज्ञꣳ सुकृतस्य योनौ । देवावीर् देवान् हविषा यजास्य् अग्ने बृहद् यजमाने वयो धाः
Sit, O Hotar, in your own place, wise one; seat the sacrifice in the womb of good deeds; worship the gods with offering, O Agni, grant great vigor to the worshipper.
नि होता होतृषदने विदानस् त्वेषो दीदिवाꣳ२ ऽ असदत् सुदक्षः । अदब्धव्रतप्रमतिर् वसिष्ठः सहस्रम्भरः शुचिजिह्वो ऽ अग्निः
The Hotar, knowing, has sat down in the seat of the Hotar, shining fiercely, skilled, with unbroken vow, of firm resolve, Vasiṣṭha, bearer of a thousand, with pure tongue, O Agni.
सꣳ सीदस्व महाꣳ२ ऽ असि शोचस्व देववीतमः । वि धूमम् ऽ अग्ने अरुषं मियेध्य सृज प्रशस्त दर्शतम्
Sit together, you are great, blaze forth, most beloved of the gods; send forth your reddish smoke, O Agni, let it rise, praised and beautiful.
अपो देवीर् उपसृज मधुमतीर् अयक्ष्माय प्रजाभ्यः । तासाम् आस्थानाद् उज् जिहताम् ओषधयः सुपिप्पलाः
Send forth the divine waters, sweet, free from disease, for the offspring; from their seat let the well-fruited plants rise up.
सं ते वायुर् मातरिश्वा दधातूत्तानाया हृदयं यद् विकस्तम् । यो देवानां चरसि प्राणथेन कस्मै देव वषड् अस्तु तुभ्यम्
May the wind, Mātariśvan, place for you the heart that is upright and pure; you who move among the gods as the breath of life—may the offering be made to you, O god.
सुजातो ज्योतिषा सह शर्म वरूथम् आसदत् स्वः । वासो ऽ अग्ने विश्वरूपꣳ संव्ययस्व विभावसो
Born well, together with light, may you attain shelter and protection, O Agni; O shining one, wrap yourself in the garment of all forms.
उद् उ तिष्ठ स्वध्वरावा नो देव्या धिया । दृशे च भासा बृहता शुशुक्वनिर् आग्ने याहि सुशस्तिभिः
Rise up, O you of flawless sacrifice, with our divine thought; shine forth with your great radiance for vision—come, Agni, with auspicious praises.
ऊर्ध्व ऽ ऊ षु ण ऽ ऊतये तिष्ठा देवो न सविता । ऊर्ध्वो वाजस्य सनिता यद् अञ्जिभिर् वाघद्भिर् विह्वयामहे
Stand upright for our help, as the god Savitṛ does; upright giver of strength, whom we invoke with anointments and offerings.
स जातो गर्भो ऽ असि रोदस्योर् अग्ने चारुर् विभृत ऽ ओषधीषु । चित्रः शिशुः परि तमास्य् अक्तून् प्र मातृभ्यो ऽ अधि कनिक्रदद् गाः
You are born as the embryo of earth and heaven, Agni, lovely and carried in the plants; the brilliant child, you move around the seasons, crying out from your mothers, echoing among the cows.
स्थिरो भव वीड्व् अङ्ग ऽ आशुर् भव वाज्य् अर्वन् । पृथुर् भव सुषदस् त्वम् अग्नेः पुरीषवाहणः
Be firm, O strong one; be swift, O vigorous steed; be broad, O well-seated one, Agni, bearer of the sacrificial offerings.
शिवो भव प्रजाभ्यो मानुषीभ्यस् त्वम् अङ्गिरः । मा द्यावापृथिवी ऽ अभि शोचीर् मान्तरिक्षं मा वनस्पतीन्
Be auspicious to the offspring, to humankind, O descendant of Angiras; let not heaven and earth, nor your flames, nor the midspace, nor the trees be harmed.
प्रैतु वाजी कनिक्रदन् नानदद् रासभः पत्वा । भरन्न् अग्निं पुरीष्यं मा पाद्य् आयुषः पुरा । वृषाग्निं वृषणं भरन्न् अपां गर्भꣳ समुद्रियम् । अग्न ऽ आयाहि वीतये
Let the roaring, neighing steed come forth, the braying ass, carrying Agni, the bearer of offerings; let him not tread on the path of life; carrying the virile Agni, the powerful one, the embryo of waters, the oceanic one—Agni, come for our enjoyment.
ऋतꣳ सत्यम् ऋतꣳ सत्यम् । अग्निं पुरीष्यम् अङ्गिरस्वद् भरामः । ओषधयः प्रति मोदध्वम् अग्निम् एतꣳ शिवम् आयन्तम् अभ्य् अत्र युष्माः । व्यस्यन् विश्वा ऽ अनिरा ऽ अमीवा निषीदन् नो ऽ अप दुर्मतिं जहि
Truth, truth; truth, truth. We bear Agni, the bearer of offerings, endowed with the spirit of Angiras. O plants, rejoice as this auspicious Agni comes to you; scatter all calamities and evil, drive away harmful thoughts from us.
ओषधयः प्रति गृभ्णीत पुष्पवतीः सुपिप्पलाः । अयं वो गर्भ ऽ ऋत्वियः प्रत्नꣳ सधस्थम् आसदत्
O plants, take hold of those with flowers, those with sweet fruits; this is your embryo, the priestly one, let him settle in the ancient seat.
वि पाजसा पृथुना शोशुचानो बाधस्व द्विषो रक्षसो ऽ अमीवाः । सुशर्मणो बृहतः शर्मणि स्याम् अग्नेर् अहꣳ सुहवस्य प्रणीतौ
Shining with broad radiance, drive away enemies, demons, and diseases; may we dwell in the great shelter of Agni, the well-invoked, under his guidance.
आपो हि ष्ठा मयोभुवस् ता न ऽ ऊर्जे दधातन । महे रणाय चक्षसे
Waters, you are bringers of delight; grant us nourishment; for great battle and vision.
यो वः शिवतमो रसस् तस्य भाजयतेह नः । उशतीर् इव मातरः
That most auspicious essence of yours, let it be shared here with us, like mothers who nourish.
तस्मा ऽ अरं गमाम वो यस्य क्षयाय जिन्वथ । आपो जनयथा च नः
Therefore, let us come to you, by whose dwelling you invigorate; O waters, generate us as well.
मित्रः सꣳसृज्य पृथिवीं भूमिं च ज्योतिषा सह । सुजातं जातवेदसम् अयक्ष्माय त्वा सꣳ सृजामि प्रजाभ्यः
Mitra, joining earth and land with light, the well-born, knower of births, I join you for the offspring, for freedom from disease.
रुद्राः सꣳसृज्य पृथिवीं बृहज् ज्योतिः सम् ईधिरे । तेषां भानुर् अजस्र ऽ इच् छुक्रो देवेषु रोचते
The Rudras, joining earth, kindled the great light; their radiance, ever pure, shines among the gods.
सꣳसृष्टा वसुभी रुद्रैर् धीरैः कर्मण्यां मृदम् । हस्ताभ्यां मृद्वीं कृत्वा सिनीवाली कृणोतु ताम्
Joined with the Vasus, with the Rudras, with the wise, let the earth be soft for work; having made it soft with hands, let Sinīvālī make it so.
सिनीवाली सुकपर्दा सुकुरीरा स्वौपशा । सा तुभ्यम् अदिते मह्योखां दधातु हस्तयोः
Sinīvālī, with beautiful braids, with good children, with good offspring, with good milk; may Aditi place for you the great yoke in your hands.
उखां कृणोतु शक्त्या बाहुभ्याम् अदितिर् धिया । माता पुत्रं यथोपस्थे साग्निं बिभर्तु गर्भ ऽ आ । मखस्य शिरोऽसि
Let her prepare the fire-pit with strength, with her arms, Aditi with insight; as a mother bears her child in her lap, so let her bear the fire as an embryo; you are the head of the sacrifice.
वसवस् त्वा कृण्वन्तु गायत्रेण छन्दसाऽङ्गिरस्वद् ध्रुवासि पृथिव्यसि । धारया मयि प्रजा रायस्पोषं गौपत्यꣳ सुवीर्यꣳ सजातान् यजमानाय । रुद्रास् त्वा कृण्वन्तु त्रैष्टुभेन छन्दसाऽङ्गिरस्वद् ध्रुवास्य् अन्तरिक्षम् असि । धारया मयि प्रजाꣳ रायस्पोषं गौपत्यꣳ सुवीर्यꣳ सजातान् यजमानाय । आदित्यास् त्वा कृण्वन्तु जागतेन छन्दसाऽङ्गिरस्वद् ध्रुवासि द्यौर् असि । धारया मयि प्रजा रायस्पोषं गौपत्यꣳ सुवीर्यꣳ सजातान् यजमानाय । विश्वे त्वा देवा वैश्वानराः कृण्वन्त्व् आनुष्टुभेन छन्दसाङ्गिरस्वद् ध्रुवासि दिशोऽसि । धारया मयि प्रजा रायस्पोषं गौपत्यꣳ सुवीर्यꣳ सजातान् यजमानाय
Let the Vasus make you firm with the Gāyatrī metre, O descendant of Angiras; you are steadfast, you are the earth. By your support may I have offspring, wealth, abundance of cattle, heroic strength, and kindred for the sacrificer. Let the Rudras make you firm with the Triṣṭubh metre, O descendant of Angiras; you are steadfast, you are the midspace. By your support may I have offspring, wealth, abundance of cattle, heroic strength, and kindred for the sacrificer. Let the Ādityas make you firm with the Jagatī metre, O descendant of Angiras; you are steadfast, you are the sky. By your support may I have offspring, wealth, abundance of cattle, heroic strength, and kindred for the sacrificer. Let all the gods, the universal Agnis, make you firm with the Anuṣṭubh metre, O descendant of Angiras; you are steadfast, you are the directions. By your support may I have offspring, wealth, abundance of cattle, heroic strength, and kindred for the sacrificer.
अदित्यै राम्नासि । अदितिष् टे बिलं गृभ्णातु । कृत्वाय सा महीम् उखां मृन्मयीं योनिम् अग्नये । पुत्रेभ्यः प्रायच्छद् अदितिः श्रपयान् इति
You are strong by the power of Aditi. May Aditi seize your opening. Having made this earth the fire-pit, a clay womb for Agni, Aditi offered it to the sons, saying, 'Let it be cooked.'
वसवस् त्वा धूपयन्तु गायत्रेण छन्दसाङ्गिरस्वत् । रुद्रास् त्वा धूपयन्तु त्रैष्टुभेन छन्दसाङ्गिरस्वत् । आदित्यास् त्वा धूपयन्तु जागतेन छन्दसाङ्गिरस्वत् । विश्वे त्वा देवा वैश्वानरा धूपयन्त्व् आनुष्टुभेन छन्दसाङ्गिरस्वत् । इन्द्रस् त्वा धूपयतु । वरुणस् त्वा धूपयतु । विष्णु त्वा धूपयतु
Let the Vasus purify you with the Gāyatrī metre, O descendant of Angiras. Let the Rudras purify you with the Triṣṭubh metre, O descendant of Angiras. Let the Ādityas purify you with the Jagatī metre, O descendant of Angiras. Let all the gods, the universal Agnis, purify you with the Anuṣṭubh metre, O descendant of Angiras. May Indra purify you. May Varuṇa purify you. May Viṣṇu purify you.

May Aditi, the goddess, accompanied by all the goddesses, dig you, O fire-pit, in the seat of the earth, O descendant of Angiras. May the wives of the gods, the goddesses, accompanied by all the goddesses, place you, O fire-pit, in the seat of the earth, O descendant of Angiras. May the Dhīṣaṇās, the goddesses, accompanied by all the goddesses, kindle you, O fire-pit, in the seat of the earth, O descendant of Angiras. May the Varūtrīs, the goddesses, accompanied by all the goddesses, cook you, O fire-pit, in the seat of the earth, O descendant of Angiras. May the Graces, the goddesses, accompanied by all the goddesses, cook you, O fire-pit, in the seat of the earth, O descendant of Angiras. May the Janayas with unbroken wings, the goddesses, accompanied by all the goddesses, cook you, O fire-pit, in the seat of the earth, O descendant of Angiras.
मित्रस्य चर्षणीधृतोऽवो देवस्य सानसि । द्युम्नं चित्रश्रवस्तमम्
The favor of Mitra, supporter of peoples, is the strength of the god; may it be glory, most renowned.
देवस् त्वा सवितोद्वपतु सुपाणिः स्वङ्गुरिः सुबाहुर् उत शक्त्या । अव्यथमाना पृथिव्याम् आशा दिश ऽ आ पृण
May the god Savitṛ lift you up with his good hands, with beautiful fingers, with strong arms and power; let the quarters and directions be filled on earth.
उत्थाय बृहती भवोद् उ तिष्ठ ध्रुवा त्वम् । मित्रैतां तऽउखां परि ददाम्य् अभित्त्या ऽएषा मा भेदि
Rise up, become great; arise, you are steadfast. I place this fire-pit around with the favor of Mitra; may it not break, may it not be harmed.
