From the backs of the mountain bull, the sisters move as boats; they, ascending from below, follow the serpent of the deep, moving onward. You are the stride of Viṣṇu. You are the great stride of Viṣṇu. You are the step of Viṣṇu.

O Lord of creatures, none other than you has encompassed all these forms. May that desire of yours, for which we offer, be fulfilled for us. This one is his father, that one is his father. May we be masters of riches. Svāhā. O Rudra, whatever is your highest name in the herd, in that let the offering be placed; you are the desired one. Svāhā.

You are Indra's thunderbolt. For Mitra and Varuṇa, the two rulers, I yoke you as the instrument of command. For safety, for strength, you are unbroken, bright. By the impulse of the Maruts, conquer. With the mind of the waters. With united sense.

May we not, O Indra, become weak, unyoked, or ignorant of the sacred word. Stand upon the chariot, O thunderbolt-wielder, grasp the reins, O god, for your own horses.

The swan dwells in purity, the shining one in the midspace, the priest at the altar, the guest in the house. He dwells among men, among the best, in truth, in the sky; born of water, born of cows, born of truth, born of mountains—truth, the vast.

May these five directions be subject to you, O all-conquering one. O Brahman, you are Brahmā, you are Savitṛ, of true impulse. You are Varuṇa, of true strength. You are Indra, of all strength. You are Rudra, most gracious. You are the maker of much, the giver of prosperity, the increaser. You are Indra's thunderbolt; with it, grant me success.

By Savitṛ, the prompter, by Sarasvatī's speech, by Tvaṣṭṛ's forms, by Pūṣan's cattle, by Indra, by Bṛhaspati, by Brahman, by Varuṇa's strength, by Agni's brilliance, by Soma the king, by Viṣṇu, by the tenth deity, I am set forth.

Cook for the Aśvins. Cook for Sarasvatī. Cook for Indra, the well-woven. Vāyu is purified by the purifier; Soma is well-flowing. Indra's yoked friend.

May we, indeed, with barley, as is fitting, distribute the gifts in due order. Here, make ready the food for those who, sitting on the sacred grass, offer praise and sacrifice. I have taken you up for the Aśvins, for Sarasvatī, for Indra, the well-woven.

Like parents their son, the Aśvins protected Indra with their skills and remedies; when you, O mighty one, drank the surā with the Śacīs, Sarasvatī, O generous one, praised you.
युञ्जानः प्रथमं मनस् तत्वाय सविता धियम् । अग्नेर् ज्योतिर् निचाय्य पृथिव्या ऽ अध्य् आभरत्

In every union, in every contest, we call upon the most powerful, as friends, for Indra's aid.
