वातरꣳहा भव वाजिन् युज्यमान ऽ इन्द्रस्येव दक्षिणः श्रियैधि । युञ्जन्तु त्वा मरुतो विश्ववेदस ऽ आ ते त्वष्टा पत्सु जवं दधातु
Become of great speed, O swift one, when yoked, shine in glory like Indra's right hand. Let the Maruts, all-knowing, yoke you; may Tvaṣṭṛ place speed in your feet.
जवो यस् ते वाजिन् निहितो गुहा यः श्येने परीत्तो ऽ अचरच् च वाते । तेन नो वाजिन् बलवान् बलेन वाजजिच् च भव समने च पारयिष्णुः । वाजिनो वाजजितो वाजꣳ सरिष्यन्तो बृहस्पतेर् भागम् अव जिघ्रत
The swiftness that is hidden within you, O swift one, that which is encircled like a falcon and moves in the wind—by that, O strong one, become powerful with strength, victorious in contests, and able to carry us across in the assembly. O swift ones, victorious in contests, advancing to strength, seek out the share of Bṛhaspati.

By the impulse of the god Savitar, of true power, may I ascend the highest heaven of Bṛhaspati. By the impulse of the god Savitar, of true power, may I ascend the highest heaven of Indra. By the impulse of the god Savitar, of true creation, I have ascended the highest heaven of Bṛhaspati. By the impulse of the god Savitar, of true creation, I have ascended the highest heaven of Indra.
बृहस्पते वाजं जय बृहस्पतये वाचं वदत बृहस्पतिं वाजं जापयत । इन्द्र वाजं जयेन्द्राय वाचं वदतेन्द्रं वाजं जापयत
Bṛhaspati, win the prize; speak the word for Bṛhaspati; cause Bṛhaspati to win the prize. Indra, win the prize; speak the word for Indra; cause Indra to win the prize.
एषा वः सा सत्या संवाग् अभूद् यया बृहस्पतिं वाजम् अजीजपताजीजपत बृहस्पतिं वाजं वनस्पतयो वि मुच्यध्वम् । एषा वः सा सत्या संवाग् अभूद् ययेन्द्रं वाजम् अजीजपताजीजपतेन्द्रं वाजं वनस्पतयो वि मुच्यध्वम्
This, your true, harmonious speech has arisen, by which Bṛhaspati has won the prize—Bṛhaspati has won the prize; O forest-lords, be released. This, your true, harmonious speech has arisen, by which Indra has won the prize—Indra has won the prize; O forest-lords, be released.
देवस्याहꣳ सवितुः सवे सत्यप्रसवसो बृहस्पतेर् वाजजितो वाजं जेषम् । वाजिनो वाजजितोऽध्वन स्कभ्नुवन्तो योजना मिमानाः काष्ठां गच्छत
By the impulse of the god Savitar, of true creation, as one victorious in contests by Bṛhaspati, may I win the prize. O swift ones, victorious in contests, upholding the path, measuring the distances, proceed to the goal.
एष स्य वाजी क्षिपणिं तुरण्यति ग्रीवायां बद्धो ऽ अपिकक्ष आसनि । क्रतुं दधिक्रा ऽ अनु सꣳसनिष्यदत् पथाम् अङ्काꣳस्य् अन्व् आपनीफणत् स्वाहा
This swift horse hastens, bound at the neck, seated at the side. Dadhikrā, full of resolve, will follow after, marking the paths, shaking his mane along the tracks. Svāhā.
उत स्मास्य द्रवतस् तुरणयतः पर्णं न वेर् अनु वाति प्रगर्धिनः । श्येनस्येव ध्रजतो ऽ अङ्कसं परि दधिक्राव्णः स होर्जा तरित्रः स्वाहा
As he runs swiftly, his mane streams like a banner in the wind, resounding. Like a falcon in flight, Dadhikrā circles the track; he is the protector, the bringer of nourishment. Svāhā.
शं नो भवन्तु वाजिनो हवेषु देवताता मितद्रवः स्वर्काः । जम्भयन्तो हिं वृकꣳ रक्षासि सनेम्य् अस्मद् युयवन्न् अमीवाः
May the swift ones be auspicious for us in the offerings, godly, quick to respond, shining with light. Repelling the wolf and the demons, may they drive away all harm from us.
ते नो ऽ अर्वन्तो हवनश्रुतो हवं विश्वे शृण्वन्तु वाजिनो मितद्रवः । सहस्रसा मेधसाता सनिष्यवो महो ये धनꣳ समिथेषु जभ्रिरे
May those horses, swift to respond to the call, all hear our invocation; may the swift ones, quick to respond, listen. Possessing a thousand treasures, rich in wisdom, victorious, they have seized great wealth in the contests.
वाजे-वाजे ऽवत वाजिनो नो धनेषु विप्रा ऽ अमृता ऽ ऋतज्ञाः । अस्य मध्वः पिबत मादयध्वं तृप्ता यात पथिभिर् देवयानैः
In every contest, may the swift ones protect us; among the treasures, may the inspired, immortal, truth-knowing ones protect us. Drink of this honey, rejoice, be satisfied, and depart by the paths of the gods.
आ मा वाजस्य प्रसवो जगम्याद् एमे द्यावापृथिवी विश्वरूपे । आ मा गन्तां पितरा मातरा चा मा सोमो ऽ अमृतत्वेन गम्यात् । वाजिनो वाजजितो वाजꣳ ससृवाꣳसो बृहस्पतेर् भागम् अव जिघ्रत निमृजानाः
May the birth of strength come to me; these two, Heaven and Earth, of all forms, come to me. May my fathers and mothers come to me; may Soma come to me with immortality. O swift ones, victorious in contests, advancing to strength, purified, seek out the share of Bṛhaspati.

आयुर् यज्ञेन कल्पताम् । प्राणो यज्ञेन कल्पताम् । चक्षुर् यज्ञेन कल्पताम् । श्रोत्रं यज्ञेन कल्पताम् । पृष्ठं यज्ञेन कल्पताम् । यज्ञो यज्ञेन कल्पताम् । प्रजापतेः प्रजा ऽ अभूम । स्वर्देवा ऽ अगन्म । अमृता ऽ अभूम
May life be established through sacrifice. May breath be established through sacrifice. May sight be established through sacrifice. May hearing be established through sacrifice. May the back be established through sacrifice. May sacrifice be established through sacrifice. We have become the offspring of Prajāpati. We have reached the world of the gods. We have become immortal.
अस्मे वो ऽ अस्त्व् इन्द्रियम् अस्मे नृम्णम् उत क्रतुर् अस्मे वर्चाꣳसि सन्तु वः । नमो मात्रे पृथिव्यै नमो मात्रे पृथिव्यै । ऽइयं ते राट् । यन्तासि यमनो ध्रुवो ऽसि धरुणः कृष्यै त्वा क्षेमाय त्वा रय्यै त्वा पोषाय त्वा
May strength be with us, may heroism be with us, may resolve be with us, may brilliance be with us for you. Salutation to Mother Earth, salutation to Mother Earth. This is your realm. You are the guide, the restrainer, the firm foundation; for cultivation I appoint you, for security I appoint you, for wealth I appoint you, for nourishment I appoint you.
वाजस्येमं प्रसवः सुषुवे ऽग्रे सोमꣳ राजानम् ओषधीष्व् अप्सु । ता ऽ अस्मभ्यं मधुमतीर् भवन्तु वयꣳ राष्ट्रे जागृयाम पुरोहिताः स्वाहा
At the beginning, the birth of vigor produced Soma, the king, among plants and waters. May these become sweet for us; may we be vigilant in the realm, as priests. Svāhā.
वाजस्येमां प्रसवः शिश्रिये दिवम् इमा च विश्वा भुवनानि सम्राट् । अदित्सन्तं दापयति प्रजानन् स नो रयिꣳ सर्ववीरं नि यच्छतु स्वाहा
The birth of vigor has reached heaven, and the sovereign has encompassed all worlds. He gives to the one who does not give, knowing; may he grant us wealth with all heroes. Svāhā.
वाजस्य नु प्रसव आबभूवेमा च विश्वा भुवनानि सर्वतः । सनेमि राजा परियाति विद्वान् प्रजां पुष्टिं वर्धयमानो ऽ अस्मे स्वाहा
Indeed, the birth of vigor has arisen and encompassed all worlds everywhere. The wise king moves around, increasing the people’s prosperity; may it be with us. Svāhā.
सोमꣳ राजानमवसेऽग्निमन्वारभामहे। आदित्यान् विष्णुꣳ सूर्यं ब्रह्माणं च बृहस्पतिꣳ स्वाहा
For help, we invoke Soma the king and Agni. The Ādityas, Viṣṇu, Sūrya, Brahmā, and Bṛhaspati. Svāhā.
अर्यमणं बृहस्पतिम् इन्द्रं दानाय चोदय । वाचं विष्णुꣳ सरस्वती सवितारं च वाजिनꣳ स्वाहा
Urge Aryaman, Bṛhaspati, and Indra to give. Speech, Viṣṇu, Sarasvatī, Savitṛ, and the swift one. Svāhā.
अग्ने ऽ अच्छावदेह नः प्रति नः सुमना भव । प्र नो यच्छ सहस्रजित्त्वꣳ हि धनदा ऽ असि स्वाहा
Agni, come to us; be gracious to us, be kindly disposed. Grant us victory over thousands, for you are the giver of wealth. Svāhā.
प्र नो यच्छत्व् अर्यमा प्र पूषा प्र बृहस्पतिः । प्र वाग् देवी ददातु नः स्वाहा
May Aryaman grant to us, may Pūṣan grant to us, may Bṛhaspati grant to us. May the divine speech give to us. Svāhā.
देवस्य त्वा सवितुः प्रसवे ऽश्विनोर् बाहुभ्यां पूष्णो हस्ताभ्याम् । सरस्वत्यै वाचो यन्तुर् यन्त्रिये दधामि बृहस्पतेष् ट्वा साम्राज्येनाभि षिञ्चाम्य् असौ
I place you in the impulse of the divine Savitṛ, in the arms of the Aśvins, in the hands of Pūṣan. For Sarasvatī, the guide of speech, I appoint you; for Bṛhaspati, I anoint you with sovereignty.
अग्निर् एकाक्षरेण प्राणम् उद् अजयत् तम् उज् जेषम् । अश्विनौ द्व्यक्षरेण द्विपदो मनुष्यान् उद् अजयतां तान् उज् जेषम् । विष्णुस् त्र्यक्षरेण त्रीꣳल् लोकान् उद् अजयत् तान् उज् जेषम् । सोमश् चतुरक्षरेण चतुष्पदः पशून् उद् अजयत् तान् उज् जेषम्
Agni, with one syllable, conquered breath; I have conquered it. The Aśvins, with two syllables, conquered bipeds, humans; I have conquered them. Viṣṇu, with three syllables, conquered the three worlds; I have conquered them. Soma, with four syllables, conquered quadrupeds, cattle; I have conquered them.
पूषा पञ्चाक्षरेण पञ्च दिश ऽ उद् अजयत् ता ऽ उज् जेषम् । सविता षडक्षरेण षड् ऋतून् उद् अजयत् तान् उज् जेषम् । मरुतः सप्ताक्षरेण सप्त ग्राम्यान् पशून् उद् अजयꣳस् तान् उज् जेषम् । बृहस्पतिर् अष्टाक्षरेण गायत्रीम् उद् अजयत् ताम् उज् जेषम्
Pūṣan, with five syllables, conquered the five directions; I have conquered them. Savitṛ, with six syllables, conquered the six seasons; I have conquered them. The Maruts, with seven syllables, conquered the seven domestic animals; I have conquered them. Bṛhaspati, with eight syllables, conquered the Gāyatrī meter; I have conquered it.
मित्रो नवाक्षरेण त्रिवृतꣳ स्तोमम् उद् अजयत् तम् उज् जेषम् । वरुणो दशाक्षरेण विराजम् उद् अजयत् ताम् उज् जेषम् । इन्द्र ऽ एकादशाक्षरेण त्रिष्टुभम् उद् अजयत् ताम् उज् जेषम् । विश्वे देवा द्वादशाक्षरेण जगतीम् उद् अजयꣳस् ताम् उज् जेषम्
Mitra, with nine syllables, conquered the Trivṛt chant; I have conquered it. Varuṇa, with ten syllables, conquered the Virāj meter; I have conquered it. Indra, with eleven syllables, conquered the Triṣṭubh meter; I have conquered it. All the gods, with twelve syllables, conquered the Jagatī meter; I have conquered it.
वसवस् त्रयोदशाक्षरेण त्रयोदशꣳ स्तोमम् उद् अजयꣳस् तम् उज् जेषम् । रुद्राश् चतुर्दशाक्षरेण चतुर्दशꣳ स्तोमम् उद् अजयꣳस् तम् उज् जेषम् । आदित्याः पञ्चदशाक्षरेण पञ्चदशꣳ स्तोमम् उद् अजयꣳस् तम् उज् जेषम् । अदितिः षोडशाक्षरेण षोडशꣳ स्तोमम् उद् अजयत् तम् उज् जेषम् । प्रजापतिः सप्तदशाक्षरेण सप्तदशꣳ स्तोमम् उद् अजयत् तम् उज् जेषम्
The Vasus, with thirteen syllables, conquered the thirteenfold chant; I have conquered it. The Rudras, with fourteen syllables, conquered the fourteenfold chant; I have conquered it. The Ādityas, with fifteen syllables, conquered the fifteenfold chant; I have conquered it. Aditi, with sixteen syllables, conquered the sixteenfold chant; I have conquered it. Prajāpati, with seventeen syllables, conquered the seventeenfold chant; I have conquered it.
एष ते निर्ऋते भागस् तं जुषस्व स्वाहा । ऽअग्निनेत्रेभ्यो देवेभ्यः पुरःसद्भ्यः स्वाहा । यमनेत्रेभ्यो देवेभ्यो दक्षिणासद्भ्यः स्वाहा । विश्वदेवनेत्रेभ्यो देवेभ्यो पश्चात्सद्भ्यः स्वाहा । मित्रावरुणनेत्रेभ्यो वा मरुन्नेत्रेभ्यो वा देवेभ्य ऽ उत्तरासद्भ्यः स्वाहा । सोमनेत्रेभ्यो देवेभ्यो ऽ उपरिसद्भ्यो दुवस्वद्भ्यः स्वाहा
This is your share, O Nirṛti; accept it. Svāhā. To the divine eyes of Agni, to the gods sitting in the east, Svāhā. To the divine eyes of Yama, to the gods sitting in the south, Svāhā. To the divine eyes of all the gods, to the gods sitting in the west, Svāhā. To the divine eyes of Mitra and Varuṇa, or to the divine eyes of the Maruts, to the gods sitting in the north, Svāhā. To the divine eyes of Soma, to the gods sitting above, to those who are blessed, Svāhā.
ये देवा ऽ अग्निनेत्राः पुरःसदस् तेभ्यः स्वाहा । ये देवा यमनेत्रा दक्षिणासदस् तेभ्यः स्वाहा । ये देवा विश्वदेवनेत्राः पश्चात्सदस् तेभ्यः स्वाहा । ये देवा मित्रावरुणनेत्रा वा मरुन्नेत्रा वोत्तरासदस् तेभ्यः स्वाहा । ये देवाः सोमनेत्रा ऽ उपरिसदो दुवस्वन्तस् तेभ्यः स्वाहा
Those gods who have Agni’s eyes and sit in the east, to them, Svāhā. Those gods who have Yama’s eyes and sit in the south, to them, Svāhā. Those gods who have the eyes of all the gods and sit in the west, to them, Svāhā. Those gods who have the eyes of Mitra and Varuṇa, or the eyes of the Maruts, and sit in the north, to them, Svāhā. Those gods who have Soma’s eyes and sit above, those who are blessed, to them, Svāhā.
अग्ने सहस्व पृतना ऽ अभिमातीर् अपास्य । दुष्टरस् तरन्न् अरातीर् वर्चो धा यज्ञवाहसि
Agni, endure the battles, drive away the hostile ones. Overcome the difficult adversaries, cross the enemies; place brilliance in the sacrificial offering.
