यमाय त्वा । मखाय त्वा । सूर्यस्य त्वा तपसे । देवस् त्वा सविता मध्वानक्तु । पृथिव्याः सꣳस्पृशस् पाहि । अर्चिर् असि शोचिर् असि तपो ऽसि
For Yama, I consecrate you. For the sacrifice, I consecrate you. For the heat of the sun, I consecrate you. May the god Savitar anoint you with sweetness. Protect the touch of the earth. You are flame, you are brilliance, you are heat.
अनाधृष्टा पुरस्ताद् अग्नेर् आधिपत्य ऽ आयुर् मे दाः । पुत्रवती दक्षिणत ऽ इन्द्रस्याधिपत्ये प्रजां मे दाः । सुषदा पश्चाद् देवस्य सवितुर् आधिपत्ये चक्षुर् मे दाः । आस्रुतिर् उत्तरतो धातुर् आधिपत्ये रायस्पोषं मे दाः । विधृतिर् उपरिष्टाद् बृहस्पतेर् आधिपत्ये ऽ ओजो मे दाः । विश्वाभ्यो मा नाष्ट्राभ्यस् पाहि । मनोर् अश्वासि
Unassailable in the east, under Agni's lordship, grant me life. With offspring in the south, under Indra's lordship, grant me progeny. Well-seated in the west, under Savitar's lordship, grant me sight. Hearing in the north, under Dhātar's lordship, grant me wealth and nourishment. Firmness above, under Bṛhaspati's lordship, grant me strength. Protect me from all injuries. You are the horse of the mind.
स्वाहा मरुद्भिः परि श्रीयस्व । दिवः सꣳस्पृशस् पाहि । मधु मधु मधु
With the Maruts, be adorned with splendor. Protect the touch of heaven. Sweetness, sweetness, sweetness.
गर्भो देवानां पिता मतीनां पतिः प्रजानाम् । सं देवो देवेन सवित्रा गत सꣳ सूर्येण रोचते
The embryo of the gods, the father of thoughts, the lord of creatures—he, the god, has come together with the god Savitar, he shines together with the sun.
सम् अग्निर् अग्निना गत सं दैवेन सवित्रा सꣳ सूर्येणारोचिष्ट । स्वाहा सम् अग्निस् तपसा गत सं दैव्येन सवित्रा सꣳ सूर्येणारूरुचत
May Agni unite with Agni, may he shine together with the divine Savitar, together with the sun. Svāhā! May Agni unite with austerity, may he shine together with the divine Savitar, together with the sun.
धर्ता दिवो वि भाति तपसस् पृथिव्यां धर्ता देवो देवानाम् अमर्त्यस् तपोजाः । वाचम् अस्मे नि यच्छ देवायुवम्
The supporter of heaven shines forth by austerity; on earth, the god, the immortal, born of austerity, supports the gods. Restrain speech in us, O youthful gods.
अपश्यं गोपाम् अनिपद्यमानम् आ च परा च पथिभिश् चरन्तम् । स सध्रीचीः स विषूचीर् वसान ऽ आ वरीवर्त्ति भुवनेष्व् अन्तः
I saw the herdsman, never falling, moving on paths both forward and backward. He, wearing the same garment, traverses the straight and the crooked, turning back within the worlds.
विश्वासां भुवां पते विश्वस्य मनसस् पते विश्वस्य वचसस् पते सर्वस्य वचसस् पते । देवश्रुत् त्वं देव घर्म देवो देवान् पाहि । अत्र प्रावीर् अनु वां देववीतये । मधु माध्वीभ्यां मधु माधूचीभ्याम्
Lord of all beings, lord of all minds, lord of all speech, lord of all words—you, god, are renowned, O divine heat, god among gods, protect the gods. Here, be manifest for our divine service. Sweetness with the sweet ones, sweetness with the honeyed ones.
हृदे त्वा मनसे त्वा दिवे त्वा सूर्याय त्वा । ऊर्ध्वो ऽ अध्वरं दिवि देवेषु धेहि
For the heart, I consecrate you; for the mind, I consecrate you; for the sky, I consecrate you; for the sun, I consecrate you. Raise the sacrifice upward among the gods in heaven.
पिता नो ऽसि पिता नो बोधि नमस् ते ऽ अस्तु मा मा हिꣳसीः । त्वष्टृमन्तस् त्वा सपेम पुत्रान् पशून् मयि धेहि प्रजाम् अस्मासु धेह्य् अरिष्टाहꣳ सहपत्या भूयासम्
You are our father; be our father. Homage to you; do not harm me. With Tvaṣṭṛ's power, may we beget sons; place cattle in me, grant us offspring; may I be unharmed, may I have companionship with offspring.
अहः केतुना जुषताꣳ सुज्योतिर् ज्योतिषा स्वाहा । रात्रिः केतुना जुषताꣳ सुज्योतिर् ज्योतिषा स्वाहा
May the day, with its sign, accept the bright light, with light—svāhā! May the night, with its sign, accept the bright light, with light—svāhā!
देवस्य त्वा सवितुः प्रसवे ऽश्विनोर् बाहुभ्यां पूष्णो हस्ताभ्याम् । आ ददे ऽदित्यै रास्नासि
By the impulse of god Savitar, by the arms of the Aśvins, by the hands of Pūṣan, I fasten you with the girdle of Aditi.
इड ऽ एहि । अदित ऽ एहि । सरस्वत्त्य् एहि । असाव् एहि । असाव् एहि । असाव् एहि
Come, Iḍā. Come, Aditi. Come, Sarasvatī. Come, that one. Come, that one. Come, that one.
अदित्यै रास्नासीन्द्राण्या ऽ उष्णीषः । पूषासि । घर्माय दीष्व
A girdle for Aditi, a headband for Indrāṇī. You are Pūṣan. Offer to Gharma.
अश्विभ्यां पिन्वस्व । सरस्वत्यै पिन्वस्व । इन्द्राय पिन्वस्व । स्वाहेन्द्रवत् । स्वाहेन्द्रवत् । स्वाहेन्द्रवत्

यस् ते स्तनः शशयो यो मयोभूर् यो रत्नधा वसुविद् यः सुदत्रः । येन विश्वा पुष्यसि वार्याणि सरस्वति तम् इह धातवे ऽकः । उर्व् अन्तरिक्षम् अन्व् एमि
That nourishing breast of yours, which brings joy, which is the giver of treasures, which is bountiful, which is generous—by which you foster all desirable things, Sarasvatī, place that here for bestowal. I traverse the wide earth and the atmosphere.
गायत्रं छन्दो ऽसि । त्रैष्टुभं छन्दो ऽसि । द्यावापृथिवीभ्यां त्वा परि गृह्णामि । अन्तरिक्षेणोप यच्छामि । इन्द्राश्विना । मधुनः सारघस्य घर्मं पात वसवो यजत वाट् । स्वाहा सूर्यस्य रश्मये वृष्टिवनये
You are the Gāyatrī metre. You are the Triṣṭubh metre. I enclose you with Heaven and Earth. I offer you with the atmosphere. Indra and the Aśvins, drink the Gharma of the essence of honey, O Vasus, O worshipful ones. Hail to the ray of Sūrya, bringer of rain.
समुद्राय त्वा वाताय स्वाहा । सरिराय त्वा वाताय स्वाहा । अनाधृष्याय त्वा वाताय स्वाहा । अप्रतिधृष्याय त्वा वाताय स्वाहा । अवस्यवे त्वा वाताय स्वाहा । अशिमिदाय त्वा वाताय स्वाहा
To the ocean, to Vāta, hail! To the flowing one, to Vāta, hail! To the invincible one, to Vāta, hail! To the unassailable one, to Vāta, hail! To the helper, to Vāta, hail! To the swift one, to Vāta, hail!
इन्द्राय त्वा वसुमते रुद्रवते स्वाहा । इन्द्राय त्वादित्यवते स्वाहा । इन्द्राय त्वाभिमातिघ्ने स्वाहा । सवित्रे त्व ऽ ऋभुमते विभुमते वाजवते स्वाहा । बृहस्पतये त्वा विश्वदेव्यावते स्वाहा
To Indra, endowed with wealth and Rudra, hail! To Indra, endowed with the Ādityas, hail! To Indra, the smiter of foes, hail! To Savitar, endowed with the Ṛbhus, with power, with vigor, hail! To Bṛhaspati, endowed with all the gods, hail!
यमाय त्वाङ्गिरस्वते पितृमते स्वाहा । स्वाहा घर्माय । स्वाहा घर्मः पित्रे
To Yama, to the Angirases, to the ancestors, hail! Hail to Gharma! Hail, Gharma, to the ancestor!
विश्वा ऽ आशा दक्षिणसद् विश्वान् देवान् अयाड् इह । स्वाहाकृतस्य घर्मस्य मधोः पिबतम् अश्विना
All the directions, seated to the south, all the gods, come here. O Aśvins, drink the honeyed Gharma that has been offered with svāhā.
दिवि धा ऽ इमं यज्ञम् इमम् यज्ञं दिवि धाः । स्वाहाग्नये यज्ञियाय शं यजुर्भ्यः
Place this sacrifice in heaven, place this sacrifice in heaven. Hail to Agni, worthy of sacrifice, for the Yajus formulas.
अश्विना घर्मं पातꣳ हार्द्वानम् अहर् दिवाभिर् ऊतिभिः । तन्त्रायिणो नमो द्यावापृथिवीभ्याम्
Aśvins, drink the Gharma of the heart, with your daytime protections. Homage to the supporters, to Heaven and Earth.
अपाताम् अश्विना घर्मम् अनु द्यावापृथिवी ऽ अमꣳसाताम् । इहैव रातयः सन्तु
Let the Aśvins drink the Gharma; let Heaven and Earth consume it. May the gifts be here itself.
इषे पिन्वस्व । ऊर्जे पिन्वस्व । ब्रह्मणे पिन्वस्व । क्षत्राय पिन्वस्व । द्यावापृथिवीभ्यां पिन्वस्व । धर्मासि सुधर्म । अमेन्य् अस्मे नृम्णानि धारय ब्रह्म धारय क्षत्रम् धारय विषं धारय
Enrich for nourishment. Enrich for vigor. Enrich for the priesthood. Enrich for sovereignty. Enrich for Heaven and Earth. You are law, of good law. Establish powers in us: establish the priesthood, establish sovereignty, establish the people.
स्वाहा पूष्णे शरसे । स्वाहा ग्रावभ्यः । स्वाहा प्रतिरवेभ्यः । स्वाहा पितृभ्य ऽ ऊर्ध्वबर्हिर्भ्यो घर्मपावभ्यः । स्वाहा द्यावापृथिवीभ्याम् । स्वाहा विश्वेभ्यः देवेभ्यः
Hail to Pūṣan, to the swift one. Hail to the stones. Hail to the responding ones. Hail to the ancestors with upright barhis, to the Gharma-purifying ones. Hail to Heaven and Earth. Hail to all the gods.
स्वाहा रुद्राय रुद्रहूतये । स्वाहा सं ज्योतिषा ज्योतिः । अहः केतुना जुषताꣳ सुज्योतिर् ज्योतिषा स्वाहा । रात्रिः केतुना जुषताꣳ सुज्योतिर् ज्योतिषा स्वाहा । मधु हुतम् इन्द्रतमे ऽ अग्नाव् अश्याम ते देव घर्म नमस् ते ऽ अस्तु मा मा हिꣳसीः
Hail to Rudra, to the one invoked by Rudra. Hail to light with light. May the day, with its sign, accept the good light, with light, hail! May the night, with its sign, accept the good light, with light, hail! May we partake of the sweet offering, O Agni, best of Indra, to you, O god Gharma, homage to you; do not harm us.
अभीमं महिमा दिवं विप्रो बभूव सप्रथाः । उत श्रवसा पृथिवीꣳ सꣳ सीदस्व महाꣳ२ऽ असि रोचस्व देववीतमः ॥ [वि धूमम् अग्ने ऽ अरुषं मियेध्य सृज प्रशस्त दर्शतम्]
The mighty one, the priest, became the greatness of heaven, spreading forth. By his fame, settle upon the earth; you are great, shine forth, most beloved by the gods. [O Agni, send forth your reddish smoke, most excellent, most beautiful to behold.]
या ते घर्म दिव्या शुग् या गायत्र्याꣳ हविर्धाने । सा त आ प्यायतां निष्ट्यायतां तस्यै ते स्वाहा । या ते घर्मान्तरिक्षे शुग् या त्रिष्टुभ्य् आग्नीध्रे । सा त ऽ आ प्यायतां निष्ट्यायतां तस्यै ते स्वाहा । या ते घर्म पृथिव्याꣳ शुग् या जगत्याꣳ सदस्या । सा त ऽ आ प्यायतां निष्ट्यायतां तस्यै ते स्वाहा
Whatever Gharma of yours is divine, whatever is in the Gāyatrī, in the offering place—may that come to you, may it settle in you; to that, hail! Whatever Gharma of yours is in the atmosphere, whatever is in the Triṣṭubh, in the fire altar—may that come to you, may it settle in you; to that, hail! Whatever Gharma of yours is on earth, whatever is in the Jagatī, in the assembly—may that come to you, may it settle in you; to that, hail!
क्षत्रस्य त्वा परस्पाय ब्रह्मणस् तन्वं पाहि । विशस् त्वा धर्मणा वयम् अनु क्रामाम सुविताय नव्यसे
For the protection of sovereignty, for the strength of the priesthood, guard your body. We, by righteousness, follow you for new prosperity.
