यस्यायं विश्व ऽ आर्यो दासः शेवधिपा ऽ अरिः । तिरश् चिद् अर्ये रुशमे परीरवि तुभ्येत् सो ऽ अज्यते रयिः
For whom this Aryan, this Dāsa, this benevolent lord, this enemy—though hostile—has cried out in anger; to you, wealth is offered.
अयꣳ सहस्रम् ऋषिभिः सहस्कृतः समुद्र ऽ इव पप्रथे । सत्यः सो ऽ अस्य महिमा गृणे शवो यज्ञेषु विप्रराज्ये
He, with a thousand sages, empowered by their strength, spreads like the ocean. True is his greatness; I praise his might in sacrifices and among the wise.
अदब्धेभिः सवितः पायुभिष् ट्वꣳ शिवेभिर् अद्य परि पाहि नो गयम् । हिरण्यजिह्वः सुविताय नव्यसे रक्षा माकिर् नो ऽ अघशꣳस ऽ ईशत
O Savitar, protect our dwelling today with undeceivable guardians, with auspicious ones. Golden-tongued, for new prosperity, guard us; let no evil-wisher rule over us.
आ नो यज्ञं दिविस्पृशं वायो याहि सुमन्मभिः । अन्तः पवित्र ऽ उपरि श्रीणानो ऽयꣳ शुक्रो ऽ अयामि ते
O Vāyu, come to our sacrifice that touches the sky, with good thoughts. Purified within, adorned above, I, shining, approach you.
इन्द्रवायू सुसंदृशा सुहवेह हवामहे । यथा नः सर्व ऽ इज् जनो ऽनमीवः संगमे सुमना ऽ असत्
Indra and Vāyu, of beautiful form, we call here with good invocation. May all people be free from harm, may we meet together with good minds.
ऋधग् इत्था स मर्त्यः शशमे देवतातये । यो नूनं मित्रावरुणाव् अभिष्टय ऽ आचक्रे हव्यदातये
Thus, the mortal has rejoiced in divine worship, who now has sought Mitra and Varuṇa for the offering, for the giving of oblations.
आ यातम् उप भूषतं मध्वः पिबतम् अश्विना । दुग्धं पयो वृषणा जेन्यावसू मा नो मर्धिष्टम् आ गतम्
Come, adorn yourselves, drink the honey, O Aśvins. The milk has been drawn, O mighty, noble givers; do not harm us, but come.
प्रैतु ब्रह्मणस् पतिः प्र देव्य् एतु सूनृता । अच्छा वीरं नर्यं पङ्क्तिराधसं देवा यज्ञं नयन्तु नः
Let the Lord of Speech advance, let the goddess Truth come forward. Let the gods lead our sacrifice to the heroic, noble one, the provider of abundance.
चन्द्रमा ऽ अप्स्व् अन्तर् आ सुपर्णो धावते दिवि । रयिं पिशंगं बहुलं पुरुस्पृहꣳ हरिर् एति कनिक्रदत्
The Moon moves among the waters, the swift-winged one runs in the sky. The tawny, abundant, many-nourishing wealth comes, the roaring one approaches.
देवं-देवं वो ऽवसे देवं-देवम् अभिष्टये । देवं-देवꣳ हुवेम वाजसातये गृणन्तो देव्या धिया
To each god for help, to each god for favor, to each god we call for the gaining of strength, praising with divine thought.
दिवि पृष्टो ऽ अरोचताग्निर् वैश्वानरो बृहन् । क्ष्मया वृधान ऽ ओजसा चनोहितो ज्योतिषा बाधते तमः
Agni, Vaiśvānara, has shone forth in the sky, vast. Growing strong on earth with power, kindled, he dispels darkness with his light.
इन्द्राग्नी ऽ अपाद् इयं पूर्वागात् पद्वतीभ्यः । हित्वी शिरो जिह्वया वावदच् चरत् त्रिꣳशत् पदा न्य् अक्रमीत्
Indra and Agni, this one came without feet, from the lotus-stalks. Having left its head, it spoke with its tongue, moved, and stepped thirty steps.
देवासो हि ष्मा मनवे समन्यवो विश्वे साकꣳ सरातयः । ते नो ऽ अद्य ते अपरं तुचे तु नो भवन्तु वरिवोविदः
The gods, united in purpose for Manu, all together, with one intent. May they today, may they tomorrow, be for us, may they be knowers of the path for us.
अपाधमद् अभिशस्तीर् अशस्तिहाथेन्द्रो द्युम्न्य् आभवत् । देवास् त ऽ इन्द्र सख्याय येमिरे बृहद्भानो मरुद्गण
He has removed the curses, Indra, destroyer of evil, has become glorious. The gods, O Indra, have chosen you for friendship, O radiant one, O host of Maruts.
प्र व ऽ इन्द्राय बृहते मरुतो ब्रह्मार्चत । वृत्रꣳ हनति वृत्रहा शतक्रतुर् वज्रेण शतपर्वणा
For mighty Indra, let the Maruts praise with hymns. The slayer of Vṛtra, the hundred-powered, strikes with the thunderbolt of a hundred joints.
अस्येद् इन्द्रो वावृधे वृष्ण्यꣳ शवो मदे सुतस्य विष्णवि । अद्या तम् अस्य महिमानम् आयवो ऽनु ष्टुवन्ति पूर्वथा । [इमा ऽ उ त्वा । यस्यायम् । अयꣳ सहस्रम् । ऊर्ध्व ऽ ऊ षु णः ॥] (अ.वे. )
Indra's strength has grown, his bull-like power, in the delight of the pressed Soma. Today, his greatness, the sons praise as before.
यज् जाग्रतो दूरम् उदैति दैवं तद् उ सुप्तस्य तथैवैति । दूरंगमं ज्योतिषां ज्योतिर् एकं तन् मे मनः शिवसंकल्पम् अस्तु
That which rises far, even while awake, as divine; and likewise, it goes forth when asleep. The light of lights, traversing distances, may my mind be endowed with auspicious resolve.
येन कर्माण्य् अपसो मनीषिणो यज्ञे कृण्वन्ति विदथेषु धीराः । यद् अपूर्वं यक्षम् अन्तः प्रजानां तन् मे मनः शिवसंकल्पम् अस्तु
By which the wise, thoughtful ones perform actions and sacrifices, and the steadfast in assemblies; that unprecedented, mysterious presence within beings—may my mind be endowed with auspicious resolve.
यत् प्रज्ञानम् उत चेतो धृतिश् च यज् ज्योतिर् अन्तर् अमृतं प्रजासु । यस्मान् न ऽ ऋते किं चन कर्म क्रियते तन् मे मनः शिवसंकल्पम् अस्तु
That which is discernment, consciousness, and fortitude; that light, immortal within creatures; without which nothing is done—may my mind be endowed with auspicious resolve.
येनेदं भूतं भुवनं भविष्यत् परिगृहीतम् अमृतेन सर्वम् । येन यज्ञस् तायते सप्तहोता तन् मे मनः शिवसंकल्पम् अस्तु
By which this existent, the world, and what will be, is all embraced by immortality; by which the seven priests sustain the sacrifice—may my mind be endowed with auspicious resolve.
यस्मिन्न् ऋचः साम यजूꣳषि यस्मिन् प्रतिष्ठिता रथनाभाव् इवाराः । यस्मिꣳश् चित्तꣳ सर्वम् ओतं प्रजानं तन् मे मनः शिवसंकल्पम् अस्तु
In which the Ṛc, Sāma, and Yajus verses are established, as spokes in the hub of a wheel; in which the consciousness of all beings is woven—may my mind be endowed with auspicious resolve.
सुषारथिर् अश्वान् इव यन् मनुष्यान् नेनीयते ऽभीशुभिर् वाजिन ऽ इव । हृत्प्रतिष्ठं यद् अजिरं जविष्ठं तन् मे मनः शिवसंकल्पम् अस्तु
As a skilled charioteer guides horses, so it directs men with reins, like swift steeds; established in the heart, swift and restless—may my mind be endowed with auspicious resolve.
पितुं नु स्तोषं महो धर्माणं तविषीम् । यस्य त्रितो व्य् ओजसा वृत्रं विपर्वम् अर्दयत्
Now I praise the mighty, righteous father, the powerful one; whose strength, like that of Trita, shattered the many-headed Vṛtra.
अन्व् इद् अनुमते त्वं मन्यासै शं च नस् कृधि । क्रत्वे दक्षाय नो हिनु प्र ण ऽ आयूꣳषि तारिषः
With Anumati's favor, may you grant us well-being; inspire us for resolve and skill, and lead us across the span of life.
अनु नो ऽद्यानुमतिर् यज्ञं देवेषु मन्यताम् । अग्निश् च हव्यवाहनो भवतं दाशुषे मयः
May Anumati today accept our sacrifice among the gods; and may Agni, the bearer of offerings, bring delight to the worshipper.
सिनीवालि पृथुष्टुके या देवानाम् असि स्वसा । जुषस्व हव्यम् आहुतं प्रजां देवि दिदिड्ढि नः
Sinīvālī, broad-hipped, you are the sister among the gods; accept the offered oblation, O goddess, and grant us offspring.
पञ्च नद्यः सरस्वतीम् अपि यन्ति सस्रोतसः । सरस्वती तु पञ्चधा सो देशे ऽभवत् सरित्
Five rivers, along with Sarasvatī, flow together with their currents; Sarasvatī, in fivefold form, became a river in that land.
त्वम् अग्ने प्रथमो ऽ अङ्गिरा ऽ ऋषिर् देवो देवानाम् अभवः शिवः सखा । तव व्रते कवयो विद्मनापसो ऽजायन्त मरुतो भ्राजदृष्टयः
You, Agni, were the first among the Angiras sages, the divine among gods, the auspicious friend; by your command, poets and wise ones were born, and the Maruts with shining vision.
त्वं नो ऽ अग्ने तव देव पायुभिर् मघोनो रक्ष तन्वश् च वन्द्य । त्राता तोकस्य तनये गवाम् अस्य् अनिमेषꣳ रक्षणस् तव व्रते
Protect us, Agni, with your divine guardianship, O generous one, and safeguard our bodies, worthy of praise; be the protector of children, offspring, and cattle, watchful in your vow.
उत्तानायाम् अव भरा चिकित्वान्त् सद्यः प्रवीता वृषणं जजान । अरुषस्तूपो रुशद् अस्य पाज ऽ इडायास् पुत्रो वयुने ऽजनिष्ट
On the outstretched earth, the wise one quickly gave birth to the vigorous bull; the reddish pillar, shining in his strength, was born as the son of Iḍā, in skill.
