एकया च दशभिश् च स्वभूते द्वाभ्याम् इष्टये विꣳशती च । तिसृभिश् च वहसे त्रिꣳशता च नियुद्भिर् वायव् इह ता वि मुञ्च
With one, with ten, with your own, with two for the offering, with twenty, with three, you carry, with thirty hosts, O Vāyu, here, release them.
तव वायवृतस्पते त्वष्टुर् जामातर् अद्भुत । अवाꣳस्य् आ वृणीमहे
Of you, O Vāyu, Lord of the wind, wondrous son-in-law of Tvaṣṭṛ, we choose the favors.
अभि त्वा शूर नोनुमो ऽदुग्धा इव धेनवः । ईशानम् अस्य जगतः स्वर्दृशम् ईशानम् इन्द्र तस्थुषः
We praise you, O hero, as cows praise their unmilked calf; lord of this moving world, lord of the steadfast, O Indra, shining in heaven.
न त्वावाꣳ२ऽ अन्यो दिव्यो न पार्थिवो न जातो न जनिष्यते । अश्वायन्तो मघवन्न् इन्द्र वाजिनो गव्यन्तस् त्वा हवामहे
No other, celestial or earthly, none born or to be born, is like you; O generous Indra, we call you, seeking horses and wealth, seeking cattle.
त्वाम् इद्धि हवामहे साता वाजस्य कारवः । त्वां वृत्रेष्व् इन्द्र सत्पतिं नरस् त्वां काष्ठास्व् अर्वतः
We call you, O Indra, giver of strength, O singers; you, lord among the slayers, O Indra, men call you in the woods and among the horses.
स त्वं नश् चित्र वज्रहस्त धृष्णुया मह स्तवानो ऽ अद्रिवः । गाम् अश्वꣳ रथ्यम् इन्द्र सं किर सत्रा वाजं न जिग्युषे
So you, O mighty one, with dazzling thunderbolt in hand, courageous, praised, O stone-breaker; scatter for us, O Indra, cow, horse, chariot, and wealth, so that none may defeat us.
कया नश् चित्र ऽ आ भुवद् ऊती सदावृधः सखा । कया शचिष्ठया वृता
By what power did he become wondrous, ever-strengthening, a friend? By what most potent aid was he chosen?
कस् त्वा सत्यो मदानां मꣳहिष्ठो मत्सद् अन्धसः । दृढा चिद् आरुजे वसु
Who among the true ones is most exhilarated by the draughts, who delights in the pressed soma? Even the firm treasures he unlocks.
अभी षु णः सखीनाम् अविता जरितॄणाम् । शतं भवास्य् ऊतये
May you be, for us singers, a protector among friends; may you be a hundredfold for our aid.
यज्ञा-यज्ञा वो ऽ अग्नये गिरा-गिरा च दक्षसे । प्र-प्र वयम् अमृतं जातवेदसं प्रियं मित्रं न शꣳसिषम्
Sacrifice after sacrifice, for Agni, with voice after voice, for skill; we praise the immortal Jātavedas, dear friend, as one praises a beloved companion.
पाहि नो ऽ अग्न ऽ एकया पाह्य् उत द्वितीयया । पाहि गीर्भिस् तिसृभिर् ऊर्जां पते पाहि चतसृभिर् वसो
Guard us, Agni, with one; guard us also with a second; guard us with threefold words, Lord of strength; guard us with four, O giver of wealth.
ऊर्जो नपातꣳ स हिनायम् अस्मयुर् दाशेम हव्यदातये । भुवद् वाजेष्व् अविता भुवद् वृध ऽ उत त्राता तनूनाम्
To the Offspring of Strength, the bringer, let us offer with devotion for the acceptance of the oblation; may he be our protector in contests, our increaser, and the savior of our persons.
संवत्सरो ऽसि परिवत्सरोऽसीदावत्सरो ऽसीद्वत्सरो ऽसि वत्सरो ऽसि । उषसस् ते कल्पन्ताम् अहोरात्रास् ते कल्पन्ताम् अर्धमासास् ते कल्पन्तां मासास् ते कल्पन्ताम् ऋतवस् ते कल्पन्ताꣳ संवत्सरस् ते कल्पताम् । प्रेत्या ऽ एत्यै सं चाञ्च प्र च सारय । सुपर्णचिद् असि तया देवतयाङ्गिरस्वद् ध्रुवः सीद
You are the year, you are the cycle, you are the half-year, you are the season, you are the month, you are the fortnight, you are the day and night, you are the dawns; may all these be prepared for you, may the year be prepared for you. Having departed and returned, move together, move onward. You are even the Suparṇa, by that divine power of the Angiras, take your firm seat.
होता यक्षद् समिधेन्द्रम् इडस् पदे नाभा पृथिव्या ऽ अधि । दिवो वर्ष्मन्त् सम् इध्यत ऽ ओजिष्ठश् चर्षणीसहां वेत्व् आज्यस्य होतर् यज
Let the Hotṛ invoke Samidha-Indra at the place of Iḍā, at the navel of earth; let him blaze up from the expanse of heaven, most mighty, victorious among peoples. O Hotṛ, offer the clarified butter.
होता यक्षत् तनूनपातमूतिभिर् जेतारम् अपराजितम् । इन्द्रं देवꣳ स्वर्विदं पथिभिर् मधुमत्तमैर् नराशꣳसेन तेजसा वेत्व् आज्यस्य होतर् यज
Let the Hotṛ invoke Tanūnapāt, with his powers, the unconquered victor; Indra, the god who knows the light, with sweetest paths, with the strength of men. O Hotṛ, offer the clarified butter.
होता यक्षद् इडाभिर् इन्द्रम् ईडितम् आजुह्वानम् अमर्त्यम् । देवो देवैः सवीर्यो वज्रहस्तः पुरंदरो वेत्व् आज्यस्य होतर् यज
Let the Hotṛ invoke Indra, praised by Iḍā, immortal, called with the ladle; the god, mighty among gods, wielder of the thunderbolt, destroyer of cities. O Hotṛ, offer the clarified butter.
होता यक्षद् बर्हिषीन्द्रं निषद्वरं वृषभं नर्यापसम् । वसुभी रुद्रैर् आदित्यैः सुयुग्भिर् बर्हिर् आसदद् वेत्व् आज्यस्य होतर् यज
Let the Hotṛ invoke Indra to the sacred grass, to his seat, the bull among men; with Vasus, Rudras, Ādityas, well-yoked, let him sit on the sacred grass. O Hotṛ, offer the clarified butter.
होता यक्षद् ओजो न वीर्यꣳ सहो द्वार ऽ इन्द्रम् अवर्धयन् । सुप्रायणा ऽ अस्मिन् यज्ञे वि श्रयन्ताम् ऋतावृधो द्वार ऽ इन्द्राय मीढुषे व्यन्त्व् आज्यस्य होतर् यज
Let the Hotṛ invoke the vigor, the strength, the might, the doors that have strengthened Indra; may the well-guided doors, grown with truth, open wide in this sacrifice for Indra, the gracious. O Hotṛ, offer the clarified butter.
होता यक्षद् उषे ऽ इन्द्रस्य धेनू सुदुघे मातरा मही । सवातरौ न तेजसा वत्सम् इन्द्रम् अवर्धतां वीताम् आज्यस्य होतर् यज
Let the Hotṛ invoke the nourishing cows of Indra, the two great mothers, ever-yielding; like swift winds by their power, may they nourish Indra as a calf. O Hotṛ, offer the clarified butter.
होता यक्षद् दैव्या होतारा भिषजा सखाया हविषेन्द्रं भिषज्यतः । कवी देवौ प्रचेतसाव् इन्द्राय धत्त ऽ इन्द्रियं वीताम् आज्यस्य होतर् यज
Let the Hotṛ invoke the divine Hotṛs, the healers, the friends, with offering; may they heal Indra. The wise gods, the prudent, grant strength to Indra. O Hotṛ, offer the clarified butter.
होता यक्षत् तिस्रो देवीर् न भेषजं त्रयस् त्रिधातवो ऽपस इडा सरस्वत् भारती महीः । इन्द्रपत्नीर् हविष्मतीर् व्यन्त्व् आज्यस्य होतर् यज
Let the Hotṛ invoke the three goddesses, as healers, the three triple-born streams: Iḍā, Sarasvatī, Bhāratī, the great ones; the wives of Indra, rich in offerings. O Hotṛ, offer the clarified butter.
होता यक्षत् त्वष्टारम् इन्द्रं देवं भिषजꣳ सुयजं घृतश्रियम् । पुरुरूपꣳ सुरेतसं मघोनम् इन्द्राय त्वष्टा दधद् इन्द्रियाणि वेत्व् आज्यस्य होतर् यज
Let the Hotṛ invoke Tvaṣṭṛ, Indra, the god, the healer, the well-sacrificing, shining with ghee; of many forms, of good seed, the generous one. May Tvaṣṭṛ grant Indra his powers. O Hotṛ, offer the clarified butter.
होता यक्षद् वनस्पतिꣳ शमितारꣳ शतक्रतुं धियो जोष्टारम् इन्द्रियम् । मध्वा समञ्जन् पथिभिः सुगेभिः स्वदाति यज्ञं मधुना घृतेन वेत्व् आज्यस्य होतर् यज
Let the Hotṛ invoke the Lord of the Forest, the pacifier, the hundred-powered, the enjoyer of thoughts, the strength; with honey, with well-guided paths, he sweetens the sacrifice with honey and ghee. O Hotṛ, offer the clarified butter.
होता यक्षद् इन्द्रꣳ स्वाहाज्यस्य स्वाहा मेदसः स्वाहा स्तोकानाꣳ स्वाहा स्वाहाकृतीनाꣳ स्वाहा हव्यसूक्तीनाम् । स्वाहा देवा ऽ आज्यपा जुषाणा ऽ इन्द्र आज्यस्य व्यन्तु होतर् यज
Let the Hotṛ invoke Indra with svāhā of clarified butter, svāhā of fat, svāhā of drops, svāhā of svāhā-offerings, svāhā of hymns of offering; may the gods, drinkers of clarified butter, be pleased. Let Indra accept the clarified butter. O Hotṛ, offer the clarified butter.
देवं बर्हिर् इन्द्रꣳ सुदेवं देवैर् वीरवत् स्तीर्णं वेद्याम् अवर्धयत् । वस्तोर् वृतं प्राक्तोर् भृतꣳ राया बर्हिष्मतो ऽत्य् अगाद् वसुवने वसुधेयस्य वेतु यज
The gods spread the sacred grass for Indra, the excellent god, with the other gods, rich in heroes, on the altar; they increased him. Chosen, extended, and supported by wealth, the grass, abounding in riches, went beyond for the possessor of wealth; let the sacrificer seek the wealth of the wealthy.
देवीर् द्वार ऽ इन्द्रꣳ संघाते वीड्वीर् यामन्न् अवर्धयन् । आ वत्सेन तरुणेन कुमारेण च मीवतापार्वाणꣳ रेणुककाटं नुदन्तां वसुवने वसुधेयस्य व्यन्तु यज
The divine doors, together with the gods, increased Indra in the assembly, as he advanced with heroic men. With the calf, the young one, and the boy, let them drive away all defilement, O possessor of wealth; let the sacrificer seek the wealth of the wealthy.
देवी उषासानक्तेन्द्रं यज्ञे प्रयत्य् अह्वेताम् । दैवीर् विशः प्रायासिष्टाꣳ सुप्रीते सुधिते वसुवने वसुधेयस्य वीतां यज
The divine dawns and nights called Indra to the sacrifice as he approached. The divine peoples led the way, well-pleased and well-offered; O possessor of wealth, let the sacrificer seek the wealth of the wealthy.
देवी जोष्ट्री वसुधिती देवम् इन्द्रम् अवर्धताम् । अयाव्य् अन्याघा द्वेषाꣳस्य् आन्या वक्षद् वसु वार्याणि यजमानाय शिक्षिते वसुवने वसुधेयस्य वीतां यज
The divine enjoyer, the bestower of wealth, increased the god Indra. One drives away hatreds, another brings forth desirable wealth for the sacrificer who is instructed; O possessor of wealth, let the sacrificer seek the wealth of the wealthy.
देवी ऽ ऊर्जाहुती दुघे पयसेन्द्रम् अवर्धताम् । इषमूर्जम् अन्या वक्षत् सग्धिꣳ सपीतिम् अन्या नवेन पूर्वं दयमाने पुराणेन नवम् अधातामूर्जमूर्जाहुती ऽ ऊर्जयमाने वसु वार्याणि यजमानाय शिक्षिते वसुवने वसुधेयस्य वीतां यज
The divine givers of nourishment, pouring forth milk, increased Indra. One brings forth food and strength, another brings forth abundance and fullness; the new one gives first, the old one gives the new, both giving strength and nourishment; for the sacrificer who is instructed, O possessor of wealth, let the sacrificer seek the wealth of the wealthy.
देवा देव्या होतारा देवम् इन्द्रम् अवर्धताम् । हताघशꣳसाव् आभार्ष्टां वसु वार्याणि यजमानाय शिक्षितौ वसुवने वसुधेयस्य वीतां यज
The divine priests, with the goddess, increased the god Indra. Let the haters and slanderers be struck down; for the sacrificer who is instructed, O possessor of wealth, let the sacrificer seek the wealth of the wealthy.
